Perfect place to stay for photographer of videographer alike who wants convenience of viewing Mt Fuji. You just need to cross the street and Mount Fuji is visible clearly. On top of that, the shuttle bus (red line) will also alight you right in front of the property, convenient! However, if you are particular about upkeep, amenities - then this is not what the property is offering. During our stay, I had to deal with insects, giant moth and spiders. The bed arrangement doesn't smell and look like the most hygienic too. In conclusion, the place is old - but the only motivation to stay here is the view of Mount Fuji!

Firstly, if you are looking for the best Kawaguchiko view of Fuji over the lake, this place is it. They have a small tunnel way under the road (the road can be busy on clear days), which takes you to the lake shore for uninterrupted views of Fuji over the lake (bring bug spray). Having looked around the area, I would say this is the best spot for sunset and sunrise photo’s of Fuji anywhere on the lake. Stay a few days for a better chance of clear skies. We stayed in one of the small cottages close to the road. It was small and self contained with its own parking space. The walls were thin, and unfortunately our next door neighbours were very loud. At check-in we were given one sheet each and a small pillowcase, which we returned on checkout. We were asked if we needed towels, which we did. Although their paper work says they rent the towels, we were thankfully not charged. They also loaned us umbrellas without charge. There was an additional fitted sheet (not a full duvet cover) on each ‘duvet’ already in place, but along with the fitted sheet on the mattress and wash cloths in the kitchen, these appeared not to have been washed between visitors. We found some long black hairs in the bedding, and in the bathroom. The small pillow cases fitted a small cushion on each bed. As there was no second sheet for the mattress topper, we used our travel towels to create a barrier between us and the bedding which was not clean. No matter how we constructed the beds, we could not find a comfortable solution. This was because the mattress gave way and bottomed out under our bums. I have a spinal problem, and found the bed really painful, so on the second night I slept on the floor on an inflatable camping mat I had with me. Luckily, despite the questionable cleanliness in some places, the floor was remarkably clean. My friend cleaned the very compact bathroom before use, which has a suprisingly powerful shower for its simple looks. The kitchenette was modest. We had to unplug the tv to run the water heater, but it worked and enabled us to make coffee. The top dish on the shelf had a layer of grease on it, so based on the lack of cleanliness, and the lack of a clean cloth or sponge to wash up with, we elected not to cook. The living room was traditional Japanese with a low table and thin cushions, so we took it in turns to sit on the stairs. Outside, there were BBQs with lake views, which would be perfect if your were there fishing. The area was covered, so is usable even in the rain. Totally new beds and bedding, a full laundry service between guests, and more thorough cleaning between guests would radically improve this place, which does have excellent views. But as it is, next time I would stay in the town in a better quality hotel.

The location is excellent, in front of the retro bus stop #20. We stay at the 2nd building, E type room. You can see Mt. Fuji with the lake view everywhere inside & outside the room. The owners are very nice, letting our group check in early.
