We went there for lunch only. Foreboding entrance with iron gates and a winding narrow drive, but a beautiful eco-setting awaits, enclosed in its own valley. To tell the truth we were lost and were trying to find Le Chamarel restaurant, (missed it by about 400 yards !) so buzzed the entrance and invited ourselves in for lunch, which was... More

We spent 4 days at Lakaz Chamarel in November and enjoyed our stay immensely. This is a quiet and beautiful place, with individual bungalows set in a magnificent tropical large landscaped garden. The bungalows are comfortable, clean and spacious. It was lovely sitting on our veranda in the late afternoon, with the lush garden in front of us and the... More

You can be totally happy when you can stay there. This is a great place with friendly people in a garden with the best food and drinks and hospitality all over. All the staff (yes, I mean it, everybody!) does a great job and gives you the feeling of being a longtime friend. The food is very good. You can... More

We spent three days here at the end of a holiday in Mauritius. The set up was different to anywhere else we had stayed and found the room very comfortable and everything we expected. Very peaceful and relaxing and staff cannot do enough for you. Enjoyed the free use of bikes and the chorus of frogs over dinner one evening.... More

We spent the first three days of our wonderful vacation here in this cosy, peaceful hotel. They welcomed us after the long flight very cordially and we felt comfortable right away. The staff is very friendly and always so helpful. The little restaurant serves wonderful food and the setting is very nice. We even did a little bike tour with... More

We've stayed 3 nights as part of our holidays in Mauritius. The setup of the hotel is quite unique in the sense that rooms aren't collated to each other, and are quite far from the reception. That creates a real feeling of tranquility and quiet. Hotel grounds and views are stunning. Staff was quite formal, efficient but still friendly. There... More

We have recently stay at the Lakaz for four days. We found that the staff cannot do enough for you, nothing is too much trouble. All so courteous. If you are looking for a peaceful stay away from the hustle and bustle of life, this is the place. The only noise you hear is from Nature itself and the odd... More

We arrived at Lakaz Chamarel tired after a long flight and in the dark. However the warm welcome we received and the wonderful accommodation that awaited us was the perfect tonic to our fatigue. The bungalows are all set in the forest and provide a true sense of privacy and tranquility. They are nicely furnished in a style that reflects... More

Wonderfully located in the forests of the Black River Gorges, Lakaz Chamarel offers a first class service in pictureasque tranquillity. The boutique style lodge is unpretentious, peaceful and run like a friendly, upmarket bed and breakfast.
