By chance we came across this wonderful B&B in the charming villiage of Thiesi. Authentic and friendly are two words that spring to mind when I think about Thiesi and its people. In the heart of the province of Meilogu, this small town with its interesting architecture and murals was a definate highlight on our trip to Sardinia. The area offers splendid scenery and activities ranging from hiking and climbing to visiting ancient ruins or just soaking up the local flair. The owners made us feel very welcome in their well equiped, spotlessly clean B&B and not only gave us a multitude of tips and advice on things to see and do but also invited us to join them and their friends to a traditional folklore festival which was very an aboslute blast! See you again soon!

This B&B alone makes it worthwile visiting Sardinia - and trust me, we saw plenty of marvellous things in this Island. The B&B is family-owned and family run by Demetrio and his wife Checca and they literally make you feel at home. Not only for the clean and cosy rooms, their kindness and their knowledge of the surroundings. At breakfast, for example, you feel like being at the home you always dreamt about: all the pastries are homemade (no prepackaged things here - and yes, they actually bake them at home!). Generally speaking you can tell that the owners run the Mesaluna because they love doing it - not because they have to. And this is what it makes it so special.

Based on the very good reviews on tripadvisor we decided to book a few days in early october 2009 at Sa Mesaluna. We were not disappointed! In fact - being part of a 5 station sardinia roundtrip - it ended up being the best place of all (and the others were not bad either - thx to tripadvisor ;-)). As others have mentioned Chicca and Demetrio do everything to make the stay comfortable and relaxing. From the very warm welcome, over the good & clean rooms (an additional kitchen for the guests to use - if you want to eat for yourself "at home") to a refreshing breakfast (f.i. fresh and tasty prickly pears opened by Demetrio at the breakfast!). In Short: everything. The stay itself is good located, quiet, parking place in front of the door and the supermarket approx. 100 meters away - if you are so inclined ;-) Thiesi itself is perfectly located to explore the surrounding areas. If you want you'll get first hand hints & stories about the area, history & what not from both. Though i have to mention being fluent at Sardinian would be good. We were "not fluent" :-/ ...however, you'll manage to get along with english quite well and Demetrio speaks some german as well.. :-) So if you plan to stay in Thiesi: search no further :-)

We stayed at Sa Mesaluna in Aug 2003 and went back again in July 2004 because it was such a wonderful place. Chicca and Demetrio are amazing hosts and do everything to make you feel welcome. The rooms are top standard including air conditioning and excellent bathroom facilities. Breakfast was very healthy in traditional Sardinian style - the local cheese is divine. There are many things to do and see within minutes of Thiesi. Alghero and its beaches can be arrived at via a scenic route that is worth travelling and the town of Sassari with its wonderful shops is within easy reach. We will go back again.

Hola!
