Cenova is a quite astoundingly beautiful location and the Hotel Negro is its perfect complement. Our room was simply furnished but very comfortable, spotlessly clean, great value and with amazing views across the valley. Luigi Negro the owner is very welcoming and produces wonderful food, beautifully cooked and in prodigious quantity accompanied by his own wine. He emphasises the "legere" nature of the cooking, having quite a few words to say about the excess of butter in French cuisine (an ancient Italian/French rivalry it appears!). The lovely pool was also a godsend as the temperatures were well into the 30's. We were only there for two nights but were able to sample a couple of the walks in the area - up to the lovely little chapel of San Bernardo (take path S1 rather than S2 as the latter is not so well maintained and suffers from a few rockfalls onto the path). The path down to Lavina was a no-go as it was too overgrown.…
Lovely hotel, with excellent Ligurian cuisine, in a fantastic mountainous location. We had a very warm welcome, and the prices were amazingly reasonable. Lovely swimming pool We are looking forward to returning soon.
I stayed here for one night whilst cycle touring in this beautiful region of Liguria. Despite me not speaking any Italian the proprieter was very friendly and spoke a little English. The room was quite small but was comfortable and had a lovely view across the village and valley. The bathroom was fine except the hot water ran out very quickly. Dinner was very good, in particular a delicious starter of pasta with homemade pesto. The owner's home made wine was also excellent and reasonably priced. A decent breakfast of croissants, rolls, jam, cheese, ham, etc. and good quality English tea! Recommended.
Lovely hotel perched up against the mountain, lots of steps so be warned. Very friendly owner and staff, food was very good!! Very quiet location (apart from the church bells) so the ideal place for rest, nature, beautiful environment. Only half hour from Imperia, so beaches & restaurants are easily accessible. Small winding roads to get there. So loads of charm, affordable, very comfortable. For tall people (in particular) beds are a bit short and bathroom small so can be a bit of a challenge ;-)
