We only spent 1 night at this fabulous lodge but wished it was more.
The room was incredible - it was the lowest price room they had but there were still plenty of special touches. It was roomy and the bathroom was spacious - all of the towels and linen were good quality. It contained everything we needed & we had a great sleep!
The breakfast was wonderful - plenty of choice & everything was lovely & fresh.
The dinner was also quite nice but as it was a set menu my only comment would be that the offer of an alternate meal for us fussy eaters would have been appreciated.
We went out in the evening for a husky safari which was incredible. No northern lights but the gorgeous huskies, their amazing enthusiasm, the knowledgeable guide, the exciting ride through the dark snowy wilderness was more than enough. It was pricey but worth it. One thing that was very odd though was that we had to provide a deposit to use the lodges headlamps. Considering that the room, the dinner & the safari were all quite expensive I actually found this a little bit insulting.
My only other suggestion if you are visiting would be that if you are anything other than an average size make sure you take your own snow gear as the options available from the lodge are very limited.
The staff were lovely and went out of their way to assist when we had an issue with our hire car. Also prior to our stay, all emails and questions were answered promptly.

Dear Chris G, Thank you for taking your time to give us some lovely and helpful feedback, we really appreciate it! We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and were happy with the overall experience, we will make sure to pass your kind comments to all the staff. The headlamps we have here at the hotel are of best quality and we are happy to provide them throughout your stay. The deposit is actually just a signature, no actual charge unless the headlamps somehow end up lost. We do have a wide range of winter gear which we are more than happy to provide for the full length of your stay. Our selection of sizes for winter overalls goes from extra small (150 cm) to 4XL and winter boots from 35 (US 5) to 50 (US 14). We wish you all the best and a warm welcome back, should you decide to visit Rovaniemi again! Kind regards, Team Beana Laponia

My friend and I stayed here as part of a tour that we booked - though you can tell this was geared more towards couples, we will had a fantastic time here!

It was a very boutique place (limited rooms) which meant that we received a much more personalised service and we definitely felt very welcome throughout our stay.

The rooms was great as well - there was a double door, so it reduces the noise from outside, the bed were super comfortable and the bathroom was quite spacious. We had some complimentary drinks and we were given some outdoor clothes and boots which we can use anytime throughout our stay,

We also had the opportunity to use the jacuzzi and sauna one night (private booking), and the staff were really great as they interrupted us towards the end to let us know that there was a prediction of Northern lights in a few minutes! So we rushed back to wear our gear and headed out to see the show! :)

We did a lot of the activities - dog sledding, snow mobiling, free toboggan and free walking trails.

The food was outstanding as well! It was a modern take on the Finnish food and we loved every meal!

We stayed at the Glass Igloo after this but we both agreed that our stayed at Beana Laponia was far better! Compliments to both the staff and the chef. Would love to stay here again!

I stumbled across Beana Laponia’s impressive five stars on trip advisor, got intrigued, and ended up choosing to stay with them based off of their top notch reviews. Their reputation is well deserved.

Off the beaten path, you get an authentic Lapland experience that is personalized and without the gaggle of surrounding tourists. Agree with all reviews Laponia day is a MUST. Don’t worry, they supply all the winter gear you need down to the socks (we would know as our airline lost our luggage) and no experience or athletic ability is necessary.

The Secret of the Reindeer was our other highlight experience. Irene and her husband are like ambassadors, we walked away feeling so much more connected to Lapland, its history, and its people. Later on our trip, a local guide at Arctic SnowHotel commented on how he thought Secret of the Reindeer was the second best experience you could do while visiting Lapland. It’s that meaningful.

You get more than what you pay for here. We will be coming back!

My partner and I had the most amazing 5 day break at this hotel at the end of March, from the moment we arrived until the moment we left the experience was fantastic, the staff were extremely professional and friendly and the food was sensational! The activities and the guides were also great, nice small groups mean it’s a really personal experience - we had such a wonderful time snow mobiling and on the husky safari. The location is beautiful! We were also so lucky to see the northern lights in all their glory just outside the hotel. The staff are great, they were kind enough to let us know when we were eating dinner that the lights had appeared! We really recommend this hotel, and will definitely be back in the future!

My friends and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at Beana Laponia and we absolutely loved every minute! The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly, the rooms are superb (there were 3 of us so we had the junior suite which has its own sauna) and the food is amazing. The hotel provide all the outdoor gear you need, from boots and socks to snowsuits and mittens - they've thought of everything! There's a cosy bar where you can relax with a coffee or drink, and we booked the outdoor hot tub which was fabulous and included the private use of the sauna and indoor hot tub. Our experience included a dog sledding trip, a visit to a reindeer farm, a snowshoe walk and a snowmobiling trip which were all amazing. It was truly a magical experience and we hope to return one day.

What an amazing little place. Everything is perfect with so much attention to detail. We stayed three nights and loved the authentic feel with the freedom to roam around the property and easily find our own adventure (sledding down a hill in the forest, walking across the frozen lake to the nearby village) but also had an extensive choice of activities on offer, too. We loved the husky ride and the snowmobiles (we stopped to see the reindeer in the forest). Also did the spa/outdoor hot tub. I recommend it all.

Room was really nice, food was delicious and the staff were always friendly and helpful.

Overall, this was a magical holiday for two dog-lovers who had never before been to Finland. The setting of this hotel is truly beautiful- with husky kennels on sight and uninterrupted views across snowy planes. The staff (particularly Toni) were fantastic in terms of friendliness and likability.

My main point to highlight to anybody considering Beana Laponia is the value for money once you arrive at the hotel. It is in the wilderness and, though this adds to its mystique and character, it also means you are somewhat held captive to some extortionate prices.

Examples of this include: €138 for a one way airport transfer per 2 people (despite the fact that there may be 8 people in your bus meaning the hotel profits €552 for a 45 minute transfer.)

While the indoor hot tub is free to use for 2 hours per day, the outdoor hot tub is not- and guests are charged €70. This is not a large sum of money, but one cannot but help feel slightly fleeced.

Dinner is £96 every evening for 2 people. This in itself is not extortionate. However, we were given the same menu (with 5 main course choices on) for 4 nights running. The portions of meat and potatoes were generous however.

Furthermore, I would not recommend the reindeer safari- for which we were charged €292. It is short, and (sorry for the harsh tone) dull.

I have stayed at some amazing luxury hotels worldwide and charging so much for extras when you have virtually no choice but to pay always leaves a sour taste.

Having said this, as dog lovers the husky safaris were outstanding; and having the kennels on sight was a really special experience. The dogs themselves are clearly well-loved and cared for, and we found them to be friendly, affectionate and incredible animals. The safaris feel really authentic and unique- with the hotel running their own trails and the dogs behaviour reflecting the hotels passion for alaskan huskies.

Staff were lovely and overall quality of the hotel was good. I would recommend it if you ignore prices and I would also recommend to the hotel that they provide more information on the website. This would at least mean no guests would be taken by surprise!

Where do I start!
My family and I (6 adults) spent 5 nights here to experience a White Christmas. Pick up from the airport was good, monitoring the late flight in and pick up of the rest of us from the hotel was no problems. Brenda was the van driver and all went smoothly.
Greeted by the owner, Mulla upon arrival.
10 of the 11 rooms were booked with a total of 17 guests.
Beana Laponia is 4 years old. A boutique hotel in a renovated former foster kids hostel.
Beautifully finished with floors warm and practical for ice and water, murals of huskies on the walls, many individual seating areas, rooms warm, spacious and comfortable. Complimentary and fast wi-fi. Licensed to serve alcohol. It is unashamedly marketed for adults only. Not a cheap experience but worth every cent.
Buffet breakfast with a la Carte hot food. Lunch and dinner a la carte from local produce. The meals were first rate with a changing menu. Petri is a first class chef.
All rooms are issued with a 5 day itinerary outlining what and when you are participating in activities, including personal time in the sauna and spa, indoor or outdoor!
All guests are then kitted out in warm water proof overall suits, boots and gloves for outdoor activity, with balaclavas and helmets provided for the snow mobiles activity.
Tobogganing, visit and pet the dogs whenever you wish.
Two to a snow mobile and changing drivers half way through we had 3 hours on the mobiles.
A short bus drive into Santa’s Village for a 2 hour visit one day. Located right on the Arctic Circle line. This could be removed from the itinerary as it is targeted more at children. Feasted on salmon cooked over an open fire by Aki for lunch at Husky Point, outside of Rovaniemi. The family farm and original dog kennels. Petted some pups and Alaskan Huskies and had a short presentation by Aki and Joona on husky racing and the preparation that goes into competing in the events. Terrific.
A short reindeer sleigh ride and feeding some reindeers then back to the lodge.
A snow shoe trek to the top of a hill at 10 pm possible northern lights viewing and around a fire in a Sami tee pee some stories about original life in the far north of Finland.
Dog sled mushing for 24 kms could have gone for 240 km's.
Absolutely sensational. Driving our own sled was fantastic.
It is the little things which show a lot of thought and makes the experience so much more memorable and enjoyable at Beana Laponia.
-mulled wine and with a shot of vodka if you wish at break time in the tobogganing.
-mulled wine and a chocolate bar at break time in the snow mobiles which was taken in the husky enclosure visiting the dogs.
-a tray of delicious chocolates to select from at lunch and dinner on most days.
-one night the guys placed, I would estimate, some 30 or 40 candle pots around the outside of the lodge along the road/path merely as it looks nice from inside.
-food is laid on with most people cutting back on the number of courses.
-a small gift on Christmas Day.
All the staff were great and work really hard during their peak season. Many hotels to choose from so strong competition.
Hotels and tour companies try to align nationalities where possible for language benefits.
Thank you to in particular.....
Jasmine - reception and dining
Monica - dining
Anna Marie - reception and dining
Katia - dining
Mulla - owner and manager
Joona - son of owners and activities. Legend on the snow mobiles.
Toni - (honorary Aussie). Activities and together with Vincent took us sledding.
Petri- chef
Aki Holck. Owner (and for his dogs) who is racing in Norway in March. Good luck.
And all the rest of the team we often didn't see. All were so generous and patient with their time for us.
