We have stayed at the El Cafetal Inn on numerous occasions and have found this inn to be great value for the price and the grounds are awesome. We have just found out that Lee, the original owner has just taken over the place again and our most favourite cook, Sonya, has been rehired! Sonya makes an awesome breakfast for... More

I am rooting for this place. The new owners took on a lot, since the place had fallen into disrepair when they took it over in January, but they are working hard to get it up to speed and the grounds are extraordinary. So let's start with the grounds. Tropical flowers everywhere. Beautiful orange grove, dripping with fruit, cascading down... More

This is the place to stay for at least a few days. If you are a birding type of person, you should start or end your trip in this hotel. If you are not a birder you should do the same. It is nicely located 30 minutes from the airport. We had accommodation close by and were looking for a... More

We spent the first three nights of our CR family vacation here at el Cafetal Inn. We arrived under less than ideal circumstances - our flights had been changed, we arrived quite late after our driver failed to meet us at the airport and we were all a little cranky. Then upon arrival we learned that there had been a... More

Definitely have the hotel phone number on speed dial if you are driving yourself there! Very nice property, somewhat vertically oriented (lots of steps down to the pool!) Under new, capable management that is just getting a handle on things. Extremely friendly and relaxed. Most rooms are 1-2 people and few 3-4, 5 in a squeeze. I'm diabetic so my... More

We spent our penultimate vacation night at El Cafetal Inn in January 2015 before heading back to the airport. Until then, we stayed in several nice "Eco lodges" across the country, but El Cafetal Inn easily trumped any other place we'd been to so far. Its setting is absolutely stunning, built on a mountain slope with beautifully maintained grounds and... More

I stayed at the El Cafetal Inn in early March 2014. This is the fourth time that we stayed at the El Cafetal and we love it! The mattress in the room is the best that I ever slept on; the ladies that now run the place, Ella and Janette are wonderful and the same has to be said for... More
