My husband & I stayed here for 1 night. It was a very quiet & beautiful place, but it had no A/C. It is a very rustic place & at night I did find ants on the sofa in our room. The room itself was very clean & a good size. I loved just being out at night on the...

Our family of five just stayed here for two nights arriving at 6am in San Jose. A driver met us at the airport and brought us to Cafetal (probably a 30 minute drive), in time to settle in to our two spacious and airy rooms, and then we were able to enjoy our sumptious breakfast! What a great way to...

We stayed in a room above the restaurant overlooking the pool. Great views. Drive to get there was a bit scary up and down steep mountains. Room was noisy at night above restaurant. Very clean. Helpful staff. Included breakfast. Not much to do in the area. It was good for the one night that we stayed there.

This was a lovely bed and breakfast. The owners greeted us as we arrived and let us look at all the rooms and choose which one we wanted. We chose a large red room with a bay window, a balcony, and a huge bathroom. Since we were visiting in the rainy season, the roads were treacherous, not to mention the...

My husband and I had a great stay at the El Cafetal Inn in late February. The staff was so friendly, and the landscape is beautiful. Dinner was excellent and well-priced, and breakfast is perfect on the outdoor terrace. I had a coffee massage as well, and Norma was so sweet. The inn is easy to find when you follow...

It was slow at the El Cafetal--maybe 10 guests--so quiet. They put us in a tower room with the bow window mentioned, so it is larger and has better views than most. I saw another room htat looked packed with a double + twin bed. Our double bed was a comfortable foam mattress and the pillow flat. The room was...

Such a great a place I couldn't rave about it enough!!! We had an AMAZING time there. We kind of never plan so we can never expect and ended up just seeing a road sign so we decided to check it out. We were really impressed when we arrived as the place boasts large rooms of varied selection, expansive views,...

My husband and I had our wedding at El Cafetal a few weeks ago. We had never visited the property in person before deciding to have it there, so we were a little nervous. There was no need to worry as everything was perfect. Lee and Romy, the owners, and all their staff went above and beyond to make our...

I stayed here three days. The views from the foothill on which this wonderful hotel sits are magnificent, in every direction. (Haze shrouded mountains, hummingbirds--was that a macaw?--an Iguana for sure--as well as colorful flowers and shrubs everywhere.) One disappointment (not really): A sign points to a "Monkey" site, but I never saw any. My room was spacious, beautifully appointed...

“Rooms in the pool building are separated from the main house by a steep, long set of stairs. Room 16 in the main house looked like a great room for just a couple, round windows and a larger than average balcony. Room 18 fit our family of 4 perfectly and had loads of storage/closet space”
