We enjoyed our night here, it felt like a mountain cabin with the most beautiful view from the restaurant. Tonya and staff did everything to make our stay very pleasant and the breakfast was AMAZING (think freshest of everything) and the view from the restaurant is quite breathtaking! Highly recommend.
I enjoyed my brief stay here at the Villas de la Colina. Each accomodation was basically a tiny little "villa" or cabin. The views were incredible and the environment was just lovely. The room was comfortable and had everything you could need including a small kitchen, a private bath, television, WIFI and of course a lovely hammock on your private porch. The room had a ceiling fan and when the windows were open the breeze was very comfortable. I even had to shut the windows during the night as the breeze was cool! I enjoyed the variety of wildlife including lots of birds. I believe I saw a few monkeys, but I did not get a good look because it was dusk. The sunsets were great from this point of view. I would call the location "eclectic" and "quanint." It is not upscale, but if you are looking for a basic location that gives you a good experience I believe you will enjoy your stay. When I stayed there was basically no person there, not even staff, so I felt like I had the place to myself! There is nothing close by.…
Pros: It has a (small, subpar) pool, nice people, good food, great views, cute dogs. Cons: WiFi was slow or none existent, rooms are very outdated, pool had not been cleaned in weeks, the fridge was not working, 3 of the light bulbs were burnt out, the water was “warm” but not hot, fan only has one speed and that’s slower than ANTS!! We had an infestation of ants coming out of the drain, like 100s of ants just all over the bathroom, coming out the door into the living area, all over the villa. They did bring us RAID and a dustpan to deal with the dead ants (ourselves). Then after this fiasco we listened to Rooster screaming ALL. NIGHT. LONG. 2/10 would recommend.
The wifi was very slow and poor when it did work. There were ants all over our bathroom and on our bedroom floor. The owner did bring us some raid and a broom which was nice. The pool was refreshing but needed to be cleaned. Breakfast was yummy but we were awaken by roosters at 5am which was not ideal. The views were beautiful and the people were nice but it wasn’t worth the money spent.
This was with out a doubt the most pleasant stay I've ever had. Tannia was helpful with daily planning, fixed breakfast every morning, and provided transportation to and from the airport. The bungalow was immaculate, cool and comfortable. I was treated more as a friend than a customer. I will definitely return for a longer stay next time.
We stayed at Hotel Villas de la Colina as it was a good location away from the airport and en route to Puntarenas and the ferry. Very simple bungalows but they all had amazing views. Our hostess was very pleasant. She made us an amazing hot breakfast in the morning. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
This is a small family owned hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and very accommodating. The hotel sits atop a mountain and commands a breathtaking view. Be aware that while the rooms are fully furnished there is no air conditioning. However, there is a very pleasant breeze which will keep you cool, especially during the evening.
My wife and I stayed in a comfortable, well furnished, two bedroom villa for six weeks in Feb.-Mar. 2016. All necessary cooking and dining items are provided in a kitchen with stove, refrigerator and microwave oven. Shower has plenty of hot water. There are ceiling fans in both bedrooms and living room. Because of the climate and frequent breeze, air conditioning is not needed. The private balcony had a beautiful view over looking a farming valley filled with cows, goats, coffee, and fruit trees, and a mountain on the other side covered with scattered homes and farms. There is a large pool with deck chairs and bathrooms on site. There is a comfortable outdoor (with roof) common area where an optional breakfast is served and guests can lounge in comfortable chairs and read, play games, or just converse. The town of Atenas is about a 15 minute drive, a six dollar taxi ride or a $.50 bus trip. Tannia Suarez owns and manages the property, speaks fluent English and is a tremendously helpful resource for everything from local history, arranging tours, calling a cab, or just about anything that requires a phone and a Spanish speaker. To top it all off, I found the Villas to be an excellent value.…
We have been to many different locations in Costa Rica but always make the Hotel Villas de la Colina our 1st stop upon arriving in Costa Rica. The breathtakingly beautiful location, comfortable accommodations, and service with a welcoming smile are the amazing amenities that come with a stay at this fabulous Hotel. You may chose to stay and relax at the hotel or explore all the surrounding areas (farmers market, coffee plantations and tours, shops) and return to comfort and sunset views from your room. We will return again and again and again! Pura Vida!
I have stayed at this Hotel numerous times over the past several years. It is ALWAYS super. Nothing has ever disappointed. The owner/operator, Tania Suarez, is an excellent proprietor. She can arrange most any experience that you are interested in; from day trips to overnights . Her English is fluent. She easily shares her knowledge about the culture, current events, nightlife, etc. The Hotel is great for singles, couples, families and groups. In fact, there is often a little of all of these at any given time and the mix is lively and friendly. The cabins come in several sizes; very nice pool area (with a barbecue - if you want to use that); crisp and clean interiors, kitchenettes. Check it out!
