Very nice room, modern hotel, excelent sea views, large terrace, excellent breakfast, garages+outdoor parking, wellness and spa, good location for travel, hotel bus to Fuchsal...., cold water in the pools
A lovely gem on the west of Madeira. The hotel was always, clean, a lovely fragrance flowed around the corridors, dimmed lighting in the main parts of the hotel was a delight, especially after being outside in the blazing sun. The staff were always pleasant and delightful to chat with. Their care for the patrons was above and beyond, meeting our needs at all times. As an e.g, a patron dropped a piece of cutlery from their table, whilst my brain was trying to work out what had fallen, it was being replaced, excellent service at all times. Big thanks to Katie, who worked in the Trapaiche area, a most pleasant, smiling, helpful member of staff, the ‘Good customer service award’, definitely went to her. I would definitely recommend this hotel for peace & quiet, and a relaxing break.
perfect hotel, nice view, excellent team and service, the restaurants are good and serving tasty foods, the bars are cool and you have a great view with the perfect drinks The spa areal is magnificent.
We had a lovely stay for a week. They hotel has high standards and is a real 5 star. The staff were friendly and spoke good English. I would say it is mostly couples that come here, but we wanted peace and tranquility and if that is what you after, this is the place to go. We only paid for breakfast and ate lunch or dinner in the nearby marina (10 mins walk) which has 5 or 6 restaurants. They were all good and round the same price €9 to €13 for a pizza. The pizzas were thin and crispy, some great combos to try and the ice cream is sublime, no artificial stuff and one of the places makes it on site. Thankfully most of the previous reviews are mostly spot on, but the dark corridors or reception didn't bother me at all, I found it kind on the eyes from the brilliant sunshine. I used the gym daily which has enough machines for a good cv workout and some light weights. Never had more than 2 in it. The pools are quite small, but it was not ann issue as it was quiet when we were there. The food is nice and plenty of choices for breakfast. I am glad I did not eat there and found breakfast and a big meal at the marina was enough. Done a day trip to Funchal €20 return for adults and pottered around there, plenty to see in the hustle and bustle of the capital. The hotel is in an enviable position if you like peace and would definitely return, it is so relaxing. Over the road about 40m from the reception is another of the hotel bars where they do simple bar snacks, what a place to dine next to sea. The sea was safe to swim in, the water was nice and clear and ok once you are in. The sister hotel has a small beach next to the marina and this is where the local supermarket is, I think it would most people happy for a week and is reasonably priced for an isolated island, the only thing I seen that was expensive was toiletries, speaking of which the hotel has large bottles of shower gel, moisturiser, shampoo and conditioner if you need to cut down on your flight baggage. Our daughter had her birthday there and the hotel made a small and very neat cake, which was a lovely unexpected touch and very well received. Thanks again Saccharum hope to see you 2023.…
Fantastic hotel Just that our room was very dark This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in and it is well deserving of its 5 stars In fact we have already recommended it to all our friends If you want to go big game fishing this is the ideal place to stay. Very close to the Marina Well done
A beautiful hotel, a place to relax catch some ‘rays’, excellent staff service. Great assortment of food in the restaurants, during the evening there is live music in the Fly Bar. This place oozes charm, ambiance, low lighting, just the place to unwind.
We have just returned from a 4 night break. The area is quiet, but the hotel surpassed our expectations. From reception to housekeeping everyone was helpful and courteous. We loved the infinity pool and the spa was the best I have been to. First class without being snobby. A lovely experience.
Had an absolutely amazing time at Saccharum. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. The hotel was clean, room was spacious. The facilities were great, restaurants and bars were great with a varied selection. We would definitely come back again!
Very modern hotel, with welcoming front of house staff. Very clean and nice sized bedroom, following an upgrade for a sea view, the alternative looked bleak - facing flowers and concrete and very dark. Lovely breakfast, with substantial choice. Nice variety of bars for drinks. How could this experience have been improved? - Improved lighting during the day (hallway and reception area) - Room service (waited 30 minutes for a tea bag, and gave up waiting and went to the beach) - Irons for the rooms - Staff variable for breakfast, you’re either offered tea or coffee straightaway, or need to ask after 10 minutes. All or nothing service at present - Parking cost on booking could be made more transparent Main criticisms: no swimming pools of such, but lovely pools, but you cannot swim a half decent length, as very shallow. An early night is rarely an option with live music (loud bass) every night till at least 10 pm / 11 pm.…
From first stepping foot into this hotel the experience begins. The reception staff are very welcoming and it soon becomes apparent that this is a very different hotel experience. The whole concept of the hotel stems around the sugar factory that it has been built on. There are bits of machinery strategically placed in the hotel with a whole area dedicated to what had been at the location previously. The lighting and atmosphere of the hotel creates the theme of the hotel and the rooms are truly luxurious and modern.
