You need to try Ritz Carlton Ko Samui, a beautiful place and relaxing. The only thing you need to walk or wait for the buggy. I talked with the Executive Chef, very friendly and helpful, asked the Indian chef to take care of my family. The Spa is Amanzing, very relaxing after a day on the pool. Thank you, Christopher, for the Mocktails, special from Lychee.

We arrived for breakfast at 7.10 am. Only ONE waiting staff on duty. It was 15 minutes before she knew we wanted breakfast. We are Titanium Elite members. We wrote a letter of complaint to the Resort Manager and did not receive a reply. This hotel is worthy of only 3.5 stars. Very poor beach and sharp coral can cut feet.

Ritz Carlton Carlton, koh samui is amazing property to relax, eat and enjoy. Resort surrounded by beautiful oceanfront view. Shook restaurant is the best to have breakfast with variety of morning bakery and food from different cuisine like Indian, Thai, continental. The ranch restaurant is best Al a carte restaurant to have best steaks, fresh seafood with tasty sidings and tempting plating. Met the person who is behind the scenes of the culinary creations, chef Ivo Rodrigues, He is very humble and professional chef and have very good knowledge about multicuisine. Service was good and the staff was very courteous and helpful especially from house keeping and service. Strongly recommend to visit.

Dr. Aravind Gubbi wrote a review 18 May
Bengaluru, India46 contributions20 helpful votes
Kind Attention: Mr. Mahmoud Skaf, General Manager IN CHARGE (Remotely Operating the Ritz Carlton Resort, Koh Samui, Thailand My name is Dr. Aravind Gubbi, a Marriott Bonvey Member, Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologist and a Senior Specialist with an experience of over 25 years in the field of Gastroenterology. My wife Dr. Anitha is a Consultant Paediatrician. My Son AMIT is in his Final year of BBA-LLB (Law School) and my Daughter Maanya turned 15 just a few days ago is in Grade 10. WE ARE FROM INDIA, a country that resonates good culture and extends incredible Hospitality! We, as a family, travel across our country six times a year and the rest of the world twice a year and we prefer to stay most of the time in MARRIOTT group of hotels across India. I organise various Medical events and conferences at Marriott Hotels (Sheraton Grand Hotel in Particular) in Bengaluru, Karnataka State, INDIA and I'm very well known amongst your peers down here as a doctor who endorses the Brand ‘Marriott.’ Most of our family dinners, friends offsite meetings and functions are organised at Sheraton Grand Hotel, Bengaluru. This year, our children decided to travel and explore the South east region and Koh Samui, Thailand was their choice. My son and daughter went through the website of RITZ CARLTON and were deeply spellbound by the location, the infrastructure and the facilities available at the property. Under instructions from my children, I booked the Ritz Carlton Hotel for 3 nights by paying a sum of THB 77,000 (approximately USD 2236 and about Rs. 1.90 Lakhs) with Complimentary Breakfast. I mentioned our proposed visit to the General Manager of Sheraton Grand Hotels, Bengaluru, A very good friend of ours, who promised us that the Hospitality at Ritz Carlton, Koh Samui will be Supreme and he volunteered to write an email to the General Manager of Ritz Carlton, Koh Samui mentioning about our Visit and stay. I received an email from the guest services 3 days prior to our arrival at Ritz Carlton welcoming us and asking us for any priority services. I in-turn diligently reverted, mentioning that we are delighted to visit this esteemed property to ring in my daughters 15 Birthday and requested for upgradation of rooms if possible. I also mentioned that 3 of our family members are STRICT VEGETARIANS and insisted that priority be given for vegetarian food. Further, I also requested for breakfast on Arrival since our departure was very early in the morning at 6 am. Guest services promptly replied back saying there's a dedicated Indian chef in Ritz Carlton, Koh Samui and PROMISED us to extend the best of services. WE WERE THRILLED AND COULDN'T CONTAIN OUR EXCITEMENT TO VISIT RITZ-CARLTON. We travelled the whole night changing planes from Bangkok to Koh Samui and checked in at Ritz Carlton at 9.45 am. The front desk was courteous enough to check us in, upgrade our room and the bed was decorated welcoming the birthday girl. We were so delighted. My children, wife and I were very hungry and went down to the Restaurant for breakfast. We were surprised to see that there was not a single Vegetarian food for Breakfast. I spoke to a few Thai Chefs and they were helpless and offered to prepare veg noodles / fried rice ! I insisted on speaking to the Restaurant Manager and waited for over 20 minutes without him/her coming over. I saw the Executive Chef named Mr. IVO RODZIUS who was busy talking and laughing with a couple from the UK and patiently waited for over 15 minutes. We were so hungry that I sent words through a steward requesting for a one on one meeting. Both the Executive Chef and I sat down for discussion. I raised my strong objection to not serving us vegetarian food. He apologised saying that the Chef who prepares vegetarian food was on LEAVE FOR 2 DAYS. His gestures and attitude towards us being vegetarian was questionable. He promised us to get the Chef back the next morning and asked us to adjust for a day. I was amazed at his answer (ADJUST FOR ONE DAY). Meanwhile, we started eating bread, bun, fruits for breakfast. We could see FLIES sitting on the Bread / Buns and fruits that were displayed. When I wished to speak to the General Manager of the Hotel, I was told that there is NO GENERAL MANAGER AT RITZ CARLTON, KOH SAMUI, Just a Resort Manager called Ms. Tanzie Wong. This Property is managed by a GM remotely from a different city !!!!! Having left with no options, we rented a Car and went out into the city searching for Vegetarian food for LUNCH and DINNER. Upon our return to the room at 9.30 pm, I dialled the guest services and requested One Banana and One Apple to be placed in the room. To my Surprise, the Room service executive entered our room with 2 fruits and a Bill to sign for the two fruits. I sent back the Two fruits refusing to sign only to get a phone call minutes later from Ms. MINT, apologising and sent us a bowl of assorted fruits as Complimentary. I have never ever come across any hotels in India and Abroad charging a fee for One Banana and One Apple. The next morning at breakfast, A chef from India introduced himself and offered us Vegetarian food. Upon Serving, the taste was not up to the standard and when i questioned him, he explained that THERE ARE NO GROCERIES / INGREDIENTS like Rice / Wheat, Sooji / Rava, Spices / Masalas etc to prepare and he had to compromise with what's there in the hotel to prepare. He mentioned that the Hotel has ordered for the Groceries and Ingredients which is in Transit from Bangkok, expected to reach the Hotel later that night. I staged a Protest and insisted on speaking to the Resort Manager. Ms. Wong presented herself and apologised. She sent Mr. Chris, Assistant Manager who offered us a 30% discount during dinner at Barbeque. The Executive Chef was nowhere to be seen. The Indian Chef promised us to prepare Spinach Curry and rice for evening dinner. Having left with no options, we rented a car and went out to the City for vegetarian Lunch. We decided to visit the Barbeque Beach restaurant for dinner. Three of us ate just the Spinach Curry and Rice for dinner. My son went and tried the buffet. Following morning at the Breakfast, the Indian Chef walks up to us and tenders an apology saying that the groceries and ingredients to prepare vegetarian food has not arrived at the Hotel and is IN TRANSIT. We just smiled and went ahead eating a few modified vegetarian food of no great quality, bread, bun. We could see FLIES sitting on the Bread / Buns and fruits that were displayed. We again went out for Lunch. The same evening, we decided to visit the Thai Restaurant and the hospitality was supreme. Complete credit and appreciation goes out to Miss. Khun Penn for taking care of us so well. The food was good. We departed to Bangkok the very next morning at 6 am. The reason of writing this long REVIEW is for few questions that ponder me and I’m sure it ponders you as well. 1. Do you expect such a hospitality extended to us by RITZ CARLTON justified? 2. Why is that RITZ CARLTON do not Respect Vegetarians and INDIANS. 3. The attitude of Executive Chef Mr. IVO RODZIUS and Resort Manager Ms. TANZIE WONG were extremely Pathetic. Is that what they have been taught to behave with guests? It was their Hospitable duty to walk and talk to guests and to understand if the Guests were happy with the service or how could they do better! THEY JUST DIDN'T DO IT ! 4. Do you expect Flies on Bread and Cut Fruits in a Premium Luxury resort called Ritz Carlton? 5. Is RITZ CARLTON so poor to charge for One Banana and One Apple to guests? 6. Is Ritz Carlton so poor not to buy groceries and ingredients to cook vegetarian food? 7. Does Ritz Carlton, Koh Samui do not entertains guests from INDIA who are Vegatarians? (The behaviour of resort manager and Executive Chef clearly did indicate the same) How Unfortunate, our Family holiday to ring in my daughters 15 birthday turned into a nightmare!!! We expected the best Hospitality from Ritz Carlton, being a Marriott Brand that boasts of the same. We paid a premium money to stay there as guests for 3 days. We feel deeply hurt and terribly bruised! Such a wonderful property, excellent location, beautiful infrastructure, Awesome ground staff (Buggy drivers in Particular) BUT, VERY BADLY MANAGED BY BREAKFAST RESTAURANT STAFF AND GUEST SERVICES STAFF. Shame on you and your team RITZ CARLTON, Koh Samui. You have failed miserably. If you have any concern for the management of MARRIOTT to whom you are working for, Fix this issues immediately, else it’s a Black remark on brand MARRIOTT. I’M POSTING THIS EXPERIENCE OF OURS ON VARIOUS SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM AND TRIP ADVISOR for the information of general public. From a family who always believed in brand Marriott, but were treated horribly by Ritz Carlton, Ko Samui, Dr. Aravind Gubbi and family! Bengaluru India.

The service of Ritz is always beyond your expectation indeed. My wife and I decided to extend one day trip on Samui and We exchange one night stay in Ritz with our bonus of Marroit. We will leave Samui very ealier next morning around 6:00AM,so we could not book a breakfast in hotel. But when we checked out in the morning we are surprised that the reception girls already prepared 2 packs of breakfast with everyhing there: Bagel, Fruits ans Springs, so touched. It was a very nice goodbye to Samui and Ritz. Hope see you all soon.
