Detailed Reviews
We had really been looking forward to our stay at Outrigger as part of a multi-centre Thailand trip.
The bedrooms were large, airy and maintained to a high standard ( we upgraded to a pool room upon arrival).
Unfortunately the rest of the resort needs some investment to bring it up to a "true 5*" accomodation.
Staff were great, meals at the Edgewater Restaurant were expensive and service was impacted by a wedding on one of the evenings. Breakfast was also below the expected standard.
Location wise the hotel is slightly out the nearest resort but this can be overcome by using the Navigo app to book taxis.
Sad to say we wouldn't return, so somewhat disappointed overall.

We hdd a 6 night stay at the SAii resort in Koh Samui this summer. We had a fantastic time. Having read a few mixed reviews, we were unsure quite what to expect but can safely give our experience 5*s! Here's why...
Room
We stayed in a plunge pool villa which was lovely. The room was large and tastefully decorated with a very comfy king bed. The bathroom had a great waterfall shower and separate toilet cubicle. Inportantly, the air conditioning was highly effective! We were given 3 fresh bottles of water per day per person which was ample for us.
Amenities
During our stay, we made use of the spa facilities on site with a massage each (we had to pay for this separately). I also attended a complimentary yoga class and my partner used the air conditioned gym.
The communal pools were lovely, of varying depths and with pool access to the bar. There were only a few sunbeds around the pool so we were occasionally searching around for somewhere to sit.
Food and drink
We really enjoyed dining in the SAii restaurant Miss Olive Oyl. The food was excellent, fresh and tasty, and there were a lot of options (Thai and "Western" food). In terms of setting, the tables set out on the deck looking out onto the sea were particularly spectacular! The buffet style breakfast was also very good with some dishes made to order and all the "full English breakfast" staples alongside traditional Thai dishes.
We really rated the delicious cocktails available from 11am. There is a happy hour between 6 - 7pm which we made good use of working our way through the menu!!
Location
Perhaps the only downside of the SAii is its location. It is slightly "out of the way" and we were not very impressed with the local strip of shops (a 15 minute walk away) although the beach there was nice. Taxis were needed to get to further away, larger towns.
The beach at the SAii is fairly picturesque for a walk or photo but we did not swim as it was very rocky which was a shame.
The hotel did put on a discounted transfer to the Bophut Fisherman's market which was well worth the trip.
The location did not bother us as we wanted a very relaxing and peaceful break so enjoyed spending time at the resort but if you are looking to spend a lot of time out exploring local towns, this resort may not be as well located for you.
Service
The service at the SAii was top class. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. At check-in, we downloaded a resort app on which we could live chat to staff with any problems or requests; anything we put in the chat was replied to very promptly.
Overall, we loved our stay and would thoroughly recommend this resort for anyone looking for a relaxing visit to Koh Samui. Thank you SAii for this fabulous week!

I will start with the positives. Everyone is very friendly. The massages at the spa were excellent. I got the aromatic massage and my husband got the Thai massage and both were outstanding. They knew what they were doing, obviously were well trained an unstinting in their effort to give us a healthy and relaxing experience. The property is very beautiful and the room was spacious. The restaurant consists of several rooms and locations, including our favorite, a deck directly on the beach. The staff soon knew our preferences and rushed to make us comfortable. Now the negatives: masses of mosquitoes. We used their mosquito coil, kept the fan and a/c on, and I rubbed myself with lotion, nonetheless I woke up the next morning with bites all over my legs. Finally, the stretch of beach is nice. There were red-flag conditions all over Koh Samui during the week of our stay, so swimming was not possible, but one could walk on the beach and look for shells, pieces of coral etc. BUT there is also a lot of trash including medical waste. On my last walk I saw syringes with blood still in them. So you really need to wear shoes when walking on the beach, and keep an eye on what your children pick up.

So before arriving i had read a few recent reviews and they were mixed reviews so I wasn’t entirely sure about what to expect. On arrival checkin was quick and easy and on first impressions the hotel was lovely. Very small a boutique feeling to it. We are a family of 3 and travel at least 3/4 times each year and we are accustomed to generally stay in 5 star hotels.
On arrival they advise us that the telephone system isn’t working and all communications are done through the app. I’m the first hour we need to contact reception to advise that the toilet is blocked and they send somebody straight away. This then continues the next day with another blockage and they then advise not to flush toilet roll in the toilet and to place it in the bins. Which is fine but there is no sign or notification advising to do this anywhere in the room so I guessed it was just our toilet that this was happening to and this was the resolution.
We ordered room service the first night and food was fine but no body came to collect the plates from the room that night or the following day. We had to take them back to the kitsch ourselves.
Our rooms were not cleaned properly when house keeping came to clean the rooms and the table where we ate our dinner the night before was left dirty with red ants crawling all over the table when we returned to our room later that day. I spoke to the manager at the time Tak who was quick to resolve the matter and was very good in apologising and provided us 5000bht credit which is like £120 not much but fine all the same.
Service in the restaurants is not very good or attentive. This morning I came to the pool and asked for pool towels the person working here aknowleged me and said yes I will get some. 3 hours later I’m still waiting. We ordered food at the pool side again trying to get someone to take our order took a lifetime. Waiting would have been fine if the resort was packed but it wasn’t! When to food arrived they didn’t have any side tables to place the food on which is odd and again once we finished the food sat on our beds for about 1 hour before I saw so many ants I had to take it back to the kitchen myself. So disappointing.
Beach is not great either it’s quite stoney not the beautiful sands and clear sea you would anticipate.
I know most of the issues are first world problems! But when paying for a hotel on holiday all things matter big and small and we have experienced all of them. I’m not happy with the hotel and little compensation provided I would not reccomend.
We are used to larger hotels like anantara, shangri la etc and didn’t expect the small boutique hotel to be on that scale but expected to customer service of people working here to the same standards. Most people working here seem to not want to be working and customer service is awful they say they will do something doesn’t happen and is never acknowledged.

It’s kind of incredible that the ratings are so high for this place. Staff and management were unwelcoming, inhospitable, and generally unhelpful.
When we checked in, the room we were assigned had amenities and objects missing (such as soaps, towels, pillows). The patio and pool attached to the room also was not cleaned, as it was blanketed in dirt, branches, and leaves. The best part of the whole experience with the first room though, was that this room also had blood on the floor that did NOT belong to us. When we addressed this with the front desk, rather than them immediately changing the room, they had sent a man to clean it with a rag and a bottle of water, which is not how you clean biohazards. We had to bring this up to the front desk, again, to finally get our room changed. It should have never taken that long to have our room changed in the first place, and for that price and a 5 star accreditation, I expect more. I should note two more comically awful points.
Additionally the room we were switched to had it’s plunge pool turn brown out of nowhere, which they said was because of chemical treatment, but regardless made it unusable and unsightly. And lastly, the hotel next door had DJ blasting loud club music near the beach, that you could hear from the lobby, which is a considerable distance away.
We wouldn’t have left so miserable and upset, if the front desk/ management teams weren’t so unhelpful and objectionable. The only staff members that were hospitable were the gentlemen in the restaurant. You can reference the pictures attached to the story of our stay. But seriously avoid it, it’s not worth the money.

SAii resort makes our stay in Koh Samui amazing. The staff here are phenomenal. They are exceptionally helpful and friendly. They offer the very warm and personalized service which you cannot even find in Four Seasons.
We initially wanted to book the beachfront Villa for a whole week, but due to limited availability, we had to split the week on the beachfront villa first then a pool villa with garden view. The reservation team noticed so they offered special rates and arrangements so we could take the best experience out of the hotel. They went extra miles to make us happy.
The whole environment of the hotel is tranquil yet lively. You see the many stars on the sky while chilling in the garden at night. And you sleep with the soothing insect sound. In the morning, you have breakfast by the sea, watching the waves and hearing the birds chirp. It’s the most unforgettable memory we take away from Koh Samui. SAii provided us a perfect stay. I would highly recommend it to everyone!

The Villa was nice and spacious with beautiful garden; in brief the hardware is good. However; their software or services need substantial improvement on their training. They also need close supervision and monitoring from the residence manager and GM to keep up with their 4 or 5 stars resort.
They need attention and consideration in providing services to customers. Tablewares and utensils shouldn’t be asked when they served foods. Waitress must put the menu on the correct direction for customer to read not upside down. I asked for a box to pack my breakfast in the early morning for my boat trip; she gave a box without disposable spoon; luckily I carry a set during the COVID-19 for health safety. Many simple and small things do make a lot difference. Their staff require service mind attitude.

We had the most amazing stay at this property during our honeymoon. We stayed at one of the oceanfront suites with plunge pool. We initially were by the pool but asked to be moved further away for privacy and the staff were very accommodating. The suite was beautiful inside and out. By also having the suite, we had a free hour of drinks and apps everyday as well as the choice of dinner, massages, or cooking class each day. The massages were great and the spa is stunning. They are more expensive than other places on the island but the convenience, privacy, rooms, and staff were all worth it (and still cheap!). The property itself is beautiful with fantastic views of the ocean/beach/sunrise (you will miss the sunset here beware) as well as the pool and trees/landscaping. Breakfast and dinner were also very enjoyable. The staff went out of their way and we really enjoyed interacting with them daily. We didn't even leave the resort in our 4 days. We were intensely relaxed and comfortable here!

Thank you for your time in writing and sharing your glowing 5 star review on this forum. The team and I are truly honoured that you choose to spend your honeymoon with us at Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort. I am delighted to read that our team provided you with prompt and efficient service to allow you to be more comfortable during your stay and that our Ocean View Beachfront Suite packages delivered amazing value and benefits including: Complimentary mini bar, replenished daily Evening Chef's platter of canapes with 1 hour of cocktails Round trip airport transfers Plus....daily choice of one of the following: A Thai or aromatherapy massage, serviced either in the suite of at Navasana Spa OR Flexible half board 3-course lunch or dinner/themed evening buffet OR Cooking class in Bluefire Cooking School. We do have stunning sunrises each day which makes up for the fact that this side of the island misses out on sunsets. If you are wanting to view both, we are able to provide a number of close view points where one can witness beautiful sunsets daily while sipping on cocktails. Thank you kindly for highlighting our hosts for their genuine Outrigger hospitality. I can't wait to share your positive feedback with them. We do hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you once again to our piece of paradise here in Koh Samui. Kindest Regards Leah Matters

Lovely peaceful resort situation on the coast of koh samui about 10 minutes from Chewang
We visited in March 2020 and had the room with a swim up pool (see photos) the room and pool were lovely and a short walk from the main pool and beach area. The resort was peaceful and staff we very friendly. The food was amazing but expensive compared to the restaurants outside the hotel. Happy hour for drinks was 6-7 daily, drinks again were a lot more in the hotel eg a Singha beer was 160tb compared to 80tb elsewhere.
We would definitely come back here again and recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday / honeymoon destination.

Response from Leah M, Resort Manager at Saii Koh Samui Villas
Responded 20 May 2020
Gemma, thank you for choosing to spend your Koh Samui vacation with us at Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort. We are delighted to read that you fell in love with our dreamy resort and location. Thank you for highlighting the friendly service of our hosts, room features and delicious dining experiences. I am excited to share your glowing feedback with our hosts and Executive Chef. We are certainly most fortunate to be located only 10 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from Fisherman's Village and Chaweng. The team and I thank you for the kind recommendation and I do hope to welcome you once again in the near future. Kindest Regards Leah Matters

The villas were very comfortable and the beds and pillows lovely. The private plunge pool was way too chlorinated and I stank of bleach on coming out so only used it once. However there were other pools which overlooked the ocean and were perfect. They did spray for mosquitos whilst I was there and using the sun beds in my garden area did mean I got bitten, there are lots of sun loungers overlooking the sea with a good breeze that keeps them away. Breakfast was good, ample choice. I was underwhelmed with the restaurant food and cocktails which were overpriced. On the upside the staff are really lovely and helpful and couldn't have been more caring but this place is expensive and I would have expected more, a fruit bowl in the room, some nuts with the cocktails, the little things that make a difference.

There is nothing around . Walking is about 2 miles to any action . The main road has a 7/11 shop , massage places a couple of little restaurants . If you want action don’t stay here it’s really out the way and the beach is horrible
Hello, confirming the previous replies, plus the fact that we have also themed nights with buffets in high season.
Best regards,
Alexandre Frenkel
General Manager
We paid 300 bhat for a taxi from chaweng to the hotel . The hotel runs a shuttle to fisherman’s village and chaweng it’s 100 bhat per person each way
