Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui is located on Ko Samui, an island in the Gulf of Thailand just a short travel distance by air from Bangkok and across the southern peninsula. The view of Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui is hypnotic, as its set amidst a secluded ocean cove; an eco-friendly colony of cottages, low rise buildings and villas barely displacing the lush greenery on the hills of the island's northeast corner. 3 restaurants serve Thai, and international food and the hotel hosts regular live music for evening entertainment. A Spa with private Spa Suites, Fitness, bicycle rental and 2 public pools are some of the amenities travelers will find here.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Accor Hotels.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.

Had another amazing stay at Garrya Tongsai Bay, this time we had 16 nights.
As soon as we arrived our relaxation began, there is something special about returning, as you immediately know how everything works, so we are able to relax much more quickly.
My husband had a bad back before we left the U.K, following the long flight he was in a lot of pain. Manuel recommended a physio that he had seen and shared his details. We were expecting to go to the hospital to see him and had no issue doing so. However a call to him at 9am with help from the reception staff and he was at the hotel for a concierge visit within the hour, the first of 6 visits. He was amazing and the 6 visits totalled approximately £150, after visit two my husband was almost pain free and the best he’d been in 2 months!! Thank you Manuel! I think this saved his holiday (and mine earplugs didn’t work 😂)
One of the main reason’s we keep returning is for the staff, Garrya Tongsai Bay you really do have the best staff! They go above and beyond for EVERYONE! Extra Special thanks to Tee, Su, Tang, Nok,Kong,Chef Joy,Pu, Paet, Kookei, Hiro, Obb, Barman Ice, Mark, Sakai, Nita. Amazing breakfast farewell and an airport goodbye!
Food is amazing, although it’s still worth getting out and about to local restaurants.
Friday night movie on the beach is such a lovely touch and one of my favourite things when staying at this hotel.
We had our favourite spot at the half moon pool, extra sun-bed mattress was added for my husband’s back and towels often laid out ready for us- we often had the pool to ourselves- people do need to remember this is the quiet pool and also not to use it to wash off after being on the beach .. The pool does need a bit of a freshen up. (i.e paint touch up on the infinity edge and a couple of loose tiles need sticking down)
Most rooms have had a refurb, I don’t think there is a bad room here, although some do have many, many steps.
We look forward to whatever number visit it is for us next year …
Thank you for another wonderful stay, full of fabulous memories!!
You definitely won’t regret choosing this hotel, I just worry it’ll get so popular that it’ll be fully booked when I want to go again! Lol 😂

What an amazing stay at Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui! This was our 14th trip to Thailand and our second on the island of Koh Samui. It's rare to be in a resort where luxury, excellent service, true relaxation and value for money all come together. The staff in particular are dedicated and reflect a service culture we have only experienced in very expensive resorts. It's rare also for both the Hotel Manager and General Manager of the resort to be mingling with guests regularly to ensure everyone is happy. We had a beautiful, newly renovated Seaview Pool Villa, large in size and well appointed down to even providing different sweets at turn down. Buggy's are readily available and we took advantage of most parts of the resort. Highly recommend the BBQ night held down at Fishtails with an extraordinary buffet, live band and fire show. This resort is as good as any of the 5 star high end brands in terms of service, the staff are a credit to the management and we would definitely return again - either on our own or with our teenagers. Kaika, Namo, Tiger, Jobert, Ice and even the security guard just to name a few always remembered what we liked and paid close attention to everyone's needs. Special mentions to Manuel (General Manager) and Mark (Hotel Manager) for taking the time to speak to us and to 'Mafia' the resort cat who was always greeting us with his Xmas collar on.

Dear AgentFleming, It is very kind of you to write such a detailed review about your holiday experience at Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui. Taking good care of our guests, making them feel welcome and having a pleasant and relaxing time, is the ultimate aim of all our staff. You have kindly made us feel a sense of achievement, and at the same time reminded us that we have to keep up both facilities and the standard of service to a high level, and even make it better year after year, for guests' satisfaction; rest assured I will take great pleasure in personally passing on your kind words to Mafia the cat and all of the Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui team. Thank you once again, and we all very much look forward to having the opportunity to welcoming you back to Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui in the not-too-distant future. A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
Wonderful hotel, quiet and idyllic, with its own bay. The complex is very green. The rooms are very large and tastefully decorated, as are all the buildings. You immediately feel at home. This also has a lot to do with the staff and the hotel manager. They work as a team and look after their guests very courteously, without ever being intrusive. We would also like to emphasize that the hotel has banned plastic. Lemongrass stalks take over the role of drinking straws (yes, it works great!), water is served in carafes, shower gel, shampoo, mosquito spray, etc. are refilled! The hotel has a small, pleasant fitness room and a beautiful spa area. The breakfast buffet is amazing! The selection of high-quality food is enormous. In our opinion, the buffet leaves nothing to be desired. The food in the Fish Tales Restaurant is very tasty, and the food here is also of high quality. The restaurant is right by the sea. Although it has been very hot in Thailand for the last 2 weeks, it was still possible to eat outside. The tables are under a wonderful, shady tree or on a veranda with huge fans on the ceiling. There is always a light breeze blowing in the bay every day. The hotel is located between Chaweng and Fisherman's Village, two places that are very popular with tourists. There is also a smaller village very close by. So for a bit more life you need either a car/moped or, like us, a taxi. Cost: 150 baht to the village or 450 baht to the larger towns.

My fiancé and I were swayed by the good reviews and excited for our stay here. We have been very disappointed by poor service/hospitality, as well as many other things during our stay here. When we arrived, the girl checking us in asked to see my fiancé’s physical credit card, which he had unfortunately forgotten (mind you, we’ve been traveling for a month all over Asia, including Thailand and had not once been asked this.) The girl then got visibly impatient and annoyed with us as we pulled up his bank statements to show that it was his card. She showed us to our room and again was very short and unpleasant when I asked questions. It started off the stay on a very sour note. The staff has continued to be generally unhelpful or else something has been off with them, can’t put my finger on it. On our second to last night (last night), our light in the bathroom stopped working. The door to the bathroom is glass so it illuminated the whole room. It was midnight so we called the lobby and they sent an electrician who worked on it for some number of time but couldn’t fix it. When they couldn’t fix it (mind you, it was past 1 at this point, we were very tired), the front desk just asked if we could sleep like that. I don’t know about other people, but I can’t sleep in an illuminated room nor did we pay for that. We were very surprised by the complete lack of resolve on their end. We pushed back and eventually around 2AM they brought us to another room. They called this new room at 10:30 (the phones are very loud) to ask us if we went to breakfast? Very odd and inconsiderate to wake up us up considering how late we went to bed. The person meekly apologized, but for a “five star” resort we would’ve expected the room to be comped after such a night or at least a meal on them. Very unprofessional.
The grounds themselves are pretty although the pool is very outdated and the AC in the gym barely works (you’d think they have that figured out in the midst of summer.) The non-Thai food is very average and the food & drinks are very expensive for Thailand, as in USD prices. We were staying at another more expensive 5 star resort on Koh Samui prior to Garrya and their prices were much cheaper.
Garrya gets many good reviews, especially regarding their service, so we have been completely surprised by how unprofessional and generally unpleasant they have been. We do not recommend staying here.

Dear 387dorisb, Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m truly sorry to hear about the challenges you faced during your stay. Regarding the request for your fiancé's credit card and bank statements, this is a standard security procedure we follow for guests who cannot produce the same credit card used for booking at the time of check-in. I apologize if this caused any inconvenience. I’m also sorry to hear about the issues with the room and the service you received. This is not reflective of our usual standards. If you would like to discuss the details of your experience further, please reach out to me directly at Mark.Harrison@garrya.com. I would appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns personally. Thank you again for your feedback. Warm regards, Mark Harrison Hotel Manager

For my honeymoon, I booked a "beachfront suite," described on the resort website as (verbatim): "An oversized indoor bathroom, a terrace completed with sun-loungers, a dining table and our signature 'bath with a view' tub" Pictures show a beautiful outdoor terrace with tub overlooking the beach/ocean. My wife loves a bath, and we were both sold on the resort by this "tub with a view" amenity.
We arrived on the first day of our 3-day stay, and our room did not have a tub on the terrace as described. We were obviously quite disappointed by this misleading description and contacted the front desk. The receptionist told us that we were mistaken and should have looked at all of the possible floorplans before booking, rather than trusting the description and photos. I asked to speak with a manager, and she told me she was the manager. I encouraged them to change the website to more accurately describe this room and avoid disappointing future guests, and they said they had reviewed the description and will not change it.
The options given to me were to 1) stay in the room, 2) check out the following day for a few hours and then check into a different room with outdoor tub, or 3) pay an extra 6000 baht ($175) to upgrade to a different room and avoid the check out / check in mess the following day. Ultimately I opted to pay the extra money because I did not want to ruin our honeymoon.
This immediately ruined the mood of this leg of our trip, which we hoped would be the most relaxed and enjoyable part of our honeymoon.
I give the resort 2/5 stars because the other staff was friendly and amenities were overall good. I cannot recommend this resort to others based on my experience. I felt misled and frankly scammed by the description of the room.

We stayed a week at this beautiful hotel, on the island of Koh Samui. The hotel is located in a small bay, surrounded by lush tropical nature, hidden in vegetation. The welcome was really delicious, they immediately made us feel welcome and their kindness is really immeasurable.
Our Seaview Hillside Pool Suite was a beautiful room, very large, equipped with a living room with sofa, TV and minibar (+ tea/coffee set), comfortable king bed, a walk-in closet area and the huge separate bathroom between toilet room, sinks and bathtub and shower area. In front of a small patio with deck chairs, table and chairs, and drying rack. A few steps from the pool with umbrellas / sunbeds, with an attentive and constant service that spoiled us every moment! Staff always extremely friendly and helpful, they spent several times during the day to fill glasses with fresh water, brought fresh and fragrant wipes, popsicles, drinks and prepared the beds with soft towels, plus they gave assistance to those who wanted to try sports activities.
In the structure there were 3 restaurants on Reservation where you eat great (really top Thai cuisine), a beach bar, a Spa, a yoga room, gym near the pool, and being located on a small hill there were small electric cars to take guests around the structure.
The breakfast was exceptional, many baked goods (sweet and savory), fresh fruit, wonderful smoothies made at the time by the very nice lady (whose name unfortunately I can not remember), also present a kitchen that prepared dishes on request. Large area of savory food, fridge with sweet products, and hot drinks served at the table. On the last day they also prepare a special dish to greet you (+ flowers on the table).
We were really sorry to leave because the place is really lovely, the kindness of every single person on the staff is really amazing, we felt really welcomed with affection by everyone. Thank you for the wonderful stay!!!
Obviously, highly recommended!

We as a family stayed in this resort for four nights and it was a very comfortable stay. The resort is just 15 mins drive from the airport, check-in and check out was very smooth. We reached the resort at 1 p.m. and our room was ready unlike many other properties where room is not provided before 3 p.m. even if it is available. The welcome drink was amazing, breakfast spread is decent, but the view from breakfast area is outstanding. There are two pools— one for adults and one for all. The resort has a private beach where they organise private dinner too on request. Food quality is very good and cocktails are worth trying. The resort is another 15 minutes drive from the central area where one can enjoy variety of food, spa, and cocktails. There is a nice shopping mall known as central samui with good shops. The resort is an idle place to enjoy time with family. The resort is designed in a up and down manner but buggy is always just a call away. The most important thing which we all loved about the resort is their staff specially - Daniel, pear, pare, and all others with a smile on their face and giving their 100% effort for guests to have a comfortable stay. Rooms are spacious with all the necessary amenities one could ask for. The only thing which I felt needs renovation is the bathroom with all the modern facilities which are available in other five star resorts. Except this, I think everything is absolutely fine. It is a definitely a place where families or friends can have a gala time.

What a special place! I have never been to such a relaxing and soothing location and we have traveled a lot . We feel secure knowing we are supporting a eco friendly resort where working alongside nature is a priority. Since, becoming part of Garrya unfortunately the prices have increased but I suppose that is expected and obviously hasn’t put us off as this is our 3rd visit.
The last two times we came we brought our teenage daughters and booked Akorn Villa, which is a two bedroom seaview pool villa and it is just gorgeous, spectacular views and a luxurious Villa.
The grounds and rooms are stunning but what makes this place truly special is the staff. Many staff members were there when we first visited on our honeymoon 20 years ago and there are some new faces too. Reception staff are always there to help and go above and aboard to assist you, Da (who had us in stitches) Noey, Kate and Nok were particularly helpful and always smiling. It was nice to see Mark the hotel manager who we met 20 years ago and meet the new general manager Manuel, both are very visible talking to guests and hands on, mucking in to clear plates in the restaurant when needed etc.
If you walk down to the small but beautiful and complete private beach, one of the pool staff are there to give you a glass of iced water huge towel for your bed and a rolled towel for a pillow before you have time to put your bag down. They will also help you to take out any of the water sports equipment and show you what to do if you need help. My husband loved the little catamarans boat and they would happily drag it up and down the beach for him most days.
The food was so good I looked forward to every meal time. Everyone at the restaurants were just so lovely Grouf , Aek, Kookie, Tiger and Sakrai. Joy and Pong made the best omelette and the perfect poached egg every time. They all make such an effort, I got a birthday cake and card on my birthday and a lovely pastries for our last day.
Not forgetting all of the staff in the background maintenance men were just brilliant, we had a problem with our air conditioning one night and they were at our room fixing the problem within minutes. And the buggy men and women who will happily drive you around the resort or bring you to your room if you have come back to the hotel from a busy day.
Choengmon is the closest town only about 10mins walk from the hotel, the hotel also offer a shuttle bus, it has a number of restaurants but we preferred if not eating at the hotel to travel to the Old Fishing Village which has a brilliant night market or Cheweng which is much more lively and selection of restaurants and shopping. We have been there for Songkran (Thai water festival) the last two visits and it is so much fun down in Cheweng the atmosphere is great. Be warned if you go out expect to get wet!
We can’t wait to go back to be honest. The staff seem genuinely happy to work there and want their guests to be happy. We will be returning!

We booked a Seaview Pool Villa which is absolutely huge well furnished and modern.
Breakfast was excellent with every conceivable food on offer, separate egg, waffle and juicing stations & well spaced out seating area. The main pool is very big and a welcome relief from the heat Restaurants are excellent with friendly staff who can’t do enough for you I enjoyed testing my phrase book Thai on the staff Aroy Mak Mak ka (very tasty) Big shout out to Thunder on reception and Ice in the restaurant in fact everyone was fantastic We also met the general manager Manuel at breakfast who was genuinely interested in our stay
The Gym is compact and well equipped with modern equipment
Previous to the stay at Tongsai Bay we were based in the sister hotel Banyan Tree resort for a few days I can honestly say both resorts are flawless with Tongsai Bay taking the edge on breakfast and general mobility around the resort You can actually walk quite easy around Tongsai Bay whereas with Banyan tree resort is very very steep and buggies were essential
I would definitely come back and recommend You won’t be disappointed

The villa was just lovely. Clean, spacious, lovely outside area with pool and outdoor fridge and sink. The housekeeping service to the rooms was outstanding. It is a hilly walk but if required the hotel provides transport around the resort. We were very grateful that we were able to stay in the room for a late checkout (if the room wasn't available, the hotel provide an area where you can shower before leaving.) When at a pool with spent most of our time at the half moon shaped pool. It has a lovely view, plenty of loungers and towels available. The wildlife around the resort is lovely. So many birds, butterflies, frogs. You get a real sense of the eco philosophy of the resort. I went on the nature walk one morning (definitely take bug spray), but it is worth it for the view at the top (it's not too far/long) As long as you go knowing the sea can be quite rough and shingle you won't be disappointed. We only stayed for breakfast and bar food at the beach. It was all good. We would walk down to the Tongsai Road to the bars down there and get a songthaews to The Fishermans Village (really easy to get back as well - agree price before getting in). We also got a songthaew into Chaweng one day. Finally it was my birthday while we were there. It was a lovely surprise to get a cake at breakfast (and wine sent to our room).
