La Pierre Bleue is a lovely and quiet place, with Richard and Silvana as the most thoughtful hosts. Richard gave us good advice on hiking routes and other activities, as well as restaurants. They serve a good breakfast based on homemade products. Highly recommended 😊

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your words of praise! If we have contributed to make your stay pleasant (in our mountains hit by the storm Alex but still beautiful), then we are delighted, because that is exactly what we are looking for. Hoping to see you again one day or another to spend good moments together, our warmest greetings.

As we were tracking in the Vesubie area we decided to stay at the Pierre Bleue. The hosts are wonderful warm people, very helpful. The place is beautiful, with a great garden, great breakfat and homemade confitures, in total, I warmly recommend it, would go back again.

We stayed at La Pierre Bleue for 4 nights in July 2009 as the last stop on our South of France trip. We wanted a few days in the mountains - St Martin was recommended by a TripAdvisor forum, and then I searched the internet for somewhere to stay. I'm not quite sure how I'd come across La Pierre Bleue but thought that it looked nice and was reasonably priced from its fairly basic internet site.
The house is situated a little outside the main village - only 10 mins walk or so - with secure parking. It doesn't have a sign so you need to take a little care to find it. It is a beautiful house and rooms are available throughout the summer season and for a limited period in the winter. Our room looked up the valley, was tastefully furnished and had a small, modern bathroom. Breakfasts were a communal affair - sharing croissants, bread, juice, yoghurt, coffee at the large outside table with whoever happened to get up at the same time. Here we met other residents who we then proceeded to bump into throughout the day on our walk in the mountains, making us feel very at home! We got the feeling that St Martin was a holiday destination mainly for French people which gave us a few challenges in the language department, but it has also kept the area natural and unspoiled.
The owners offer table d'hote 4 times each week, and when we were asked if we wished to join, we were happy to give it a go. After our first expereice, we couldn't wait for the next time. The food was delicious, and included in the price (€25 during our visit) we had home made aperitif, wine, per dinner nibbles, 3 courses, coffee and a digestif...and a lot of fun chatting to the other guests.
The atmosphere at la Pierre Bleue is really relaxed and welcoming, the setting beautiful, and the accommodation standard very high. We would love to go back!

The owners serve wonderful meals with fresh fruit and confitures made from the garden. Veal for dinner and home made peach wine etc as aperitifs. The rooms are clean, patio overlooks the valley, and the atmosphere is comfortable.

It would be hard to find a better place to stay. We were bicycling the mountains, got caught in a huge downpour late enough in the day that we could not get back. A sweet and friendly young woman at the office of Tourist Information helped us look for a place to stay. We were lucky, the Pierre Bleue had an opening, it looked excellent, so we went. And it was excellent!
The room we stayed in was perhaps the loveliest we have ever stayed in; my wife loved the elegant bathroom and I loved the balcony and the bed. I have a few photos, which I'll try to attach. We had no clothes along except the bike jerseys and shorts we had been wearing, but the host and the other guests treated us as if we were in splendid attire; we never felt self-conscious but instead felt like we belonged, including effortlessly finding a spot for wet bicycles.
Our French is quite limited, but that was no handicap due to efforts, again, of hosts and guests. We ate a classic French dinner with them, a superb dinner highlighted by the host's impressive efforts to find and cook the finest in fresh things: heaps of hand collected Morel mushrooms, homemade walnut wine and a homemade wildflower liqueur, roast duck, local cheeses and much more. To use the sophisticated language of a restaurant reviewer, "Wow. It was awesome!"
All of those we shared the dinner with were sweet and interesting and I wish I had their email addresses; we parted as friends. We even got knowledgeable advice on where to aim our bicycles next, over some high passes and where to find a tiny road with sweeping views of the Mediterranean, down more toward St. Tropez. We took their advice, rode those places, and can affirm that the advice was perfect!

We only spent one night, but enjoyed the nice room, good breakfast and very helpful and kind hosts. Richard gave us good recommondations on restaurants and hiking, and even suggested a really nice hotel in Vernante for our further travel. The only thing we missed was aircondition in our room. Everything else was really nice!

It was not easy to find a comfortable and elegant place to stay in this part of the Mercantour. But Richard and his wife did a good and personal job with this bed and breakfast offering table d'hotes every 2 days.
Style is rather romantic and might not suit the 'Condé Nast Traveller' but it has character and rooms are spacious with en suite bathrooms. Breakfast is as you wish, with all you need homemade. The only thing I missed was a fresh baguette allthough there were different kind of toasted breads offered.
However this is one of those places where the hosts enjoy telling their stories and exchange your experiences around the table at night with a glass of wine. Something you might want to know when turning down the invitation to join the table d'hotes.
Richard also offers first hand hiking information so you are sure to take the right path as hiking or climbing is what you are here for!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your words of praise! It is true that instead of the white baguette from the bakery made with industrial flours, we prefer to serve our homemade rye sourdough bread with organic flour for breakfast and meals. If, despite this, we have contributed to make your stay pleasant in our mountains, then we are delighted, because that is exactly what we are looking for. Hoping to see you again one day or another to spend good moments together, our warmest greetings.

We loved the La Pierre Bleue. Richard was an amazing host. The gardens surrounding this property were beautiful and breakfast was delicious. Homemade jams were so good. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this place.

We had a wonderful stay in this charming and beautiful house, only a short walk from the centre of St. Martin Vesubie. Richard was an excellent host (and speaks brilliant English) - giving us helpful tips on good walking routes and places to eat in the village. If you are there for one of Richard's meals, definitely book a place! He is a first rate cook and the evening we had was one of the highlights of our holiday. The house itself is extremely charming with a lovely outdoor seating area. I highly recommend this accommodation!

My husband and I spent a week at La Pierre Bleue B&B in September 2017, and found it to be perfect. Richard is an excellent host, and the delicious breakfast included home-made jams and marmalade, as well as lovely varieties of bread. The B&B is in a quiet location about 5 minutes walk to a range of restaurants and cafes. The views from our room were stunning. Richard helpfully made good suggestions for our walks in the mountains, and also gave us an aperitif with home-made dips before our meal out one evening. All in all a super place to stay. Thank you Richard for making our holiday so good. Amanda and Robert Lambert
