This hotel has a perfect location, right near the center of Saint-Martin-de-Vesubie, but set off from the road in a large garden. Our room was well-decorated in a charming traditional style, with a nice view. The bathroom is modern. Excellent value for money. What really makes this hotel special is the owner, who has lots of advice about local sights.

My hotel in Saint-Martin-Vesubie fell through and I was fortunate enough to get a last minute reservation here. The proprietor was so patient when I couldn’t find the place, even though it was exactly where he said it was. Great bathroom. Nice grounds and view. Very convenient location.

We had 2 rooms here for 2 nights. Rooms clean and beds VERY comfortable.Owned and run by a family there for some generations. Like French hotels used to be: we like that, though critics would say some of the public areas had seen better days.. We paid 47 euros each for DB+B; we went to the hotel opposite for our second evening for nostalgic reasons.

Riding with my bike the Great Alps Route and stying in dirty campin places like just in France gib, this Hotel was not the cleanest, but very friendly and honest, the host told me to look the room first, before I checked and he was a very nice guy and I had a very good night sleep!

La Chataignerie is a nice old hotel in Saint-Martin de Vesubie. It must have been a very poche place in the past, but has lost most of its grandeur. It is however still a nice hotel to stay, situated on a big terrain in the centre of Saint-Martin de Vesubie. Beautiful surroundings, friendly people, reasonable rooms for reasonable prices, and very good breakfast, served outside on the terrace. That is what holiday is all about!

I had a bad feeling as i walked up the driveway. It was 4pm, we were ushered through the dining room to store our bikes by a not very welcoming owner. We walked past dirty plates and leftover food from what could have been lunch or even breakfast. Rooms were tired and old, carpet dirty and just a worn out old building. 10 people in our group and not one person was comfortable.

We spent 2 summer nights on different occasions in this family run hotel. Very simple but nice, hilarious host and nice dinner in case you choose to eat there. Quiet, located in the great atmosphere of the Alps and close to everything in this small village.

We came upon this family-run hotel by accident, having been forced down from the mountains by the threat of thunderstorms. We heartily recommend it. If you are looking for the last word in mod cons, it may not be for you, but if you are looking for accommodation that is comfortable, unpretentious and reasonably priced in a hotel with character, it should more than fit the bill. The rooms were spacious and well equipped, the bar was relaxed, and the evening meal was excellent value. The staff were attentive and helpful, and we particularly enjoyed the patron’s deadpan humour. The hotel turned a misfortune (being forced down from the mountains) into a pleasure.
