Marc and Nicole are as friendly as everyone says and make you feel at home. Nothing was too much trouble. I had delicious vegetarian food prepared for me on each of the three nights that I stayed which is such a lovely find in France. The restaurant hummed each evening so I think that Marc cooks a pretty good steak as well! There is a lovely swimming pool too. Rooms are simple but spotless with homemade jam, yoghurt, fruit and bread for breakfast. Highly recommended.
Having discovered this wonderful place we made a detour for a one night stay both on the way to the Languadoc and on the way back. Marc and Nicole could not be more accommodating. They make a big effort to make you feel welcome. I don't eat meat but that is not problem. They suggest several other delicious alternatives all of which turn out to be wonderful. They serve a range of wines and a good very reasonably priced house wine which we always choose. The rooms themselves are spacious and very good value for money and there is a good sized outdoor pool. There is ample outside parking and they will store your bikes safely upon request. This hotel is well located for walking, cycling and visiting numerous tourists attractions. We are already looking forward to the next visit when they open again in the spring.…
Unfortunately, we only had the pleasure of spending one night here as we were on route to our holiday destination. I cannot speak too highly of this hotel. Our hosts were helpfulness personified, and made us all very welcome. That they both speak English was a bonus. We had an evening meal which was cooked to perfection, and a lovely breakfast. Next time we are in this part of France, we will certainly book here. Pat Johnson and family
Marc and Nicole are excellent hosts in this quiet Logis near Ste Foy LA Grande. It is a very hands on operation and very friendly. As you would expect, Marc, the chef, is very well informed about the local wimes. It is in rather flat countryside not far from the river Dordogne. Do not expect anything flash, or 5 star, this is a very lovely simple hotel/restaurant in a bucolic setting. We love it and will no doubt return soon.
We found this hotel by chance in June 2013 en route to our holiday home in the Languedoc. By turning off the Autoroute at St Andrea, past Libourne and heading inland towards Bergerac you not only get a scenic drive past the famous vineyards but there is the added bonus off not having to tackle the Autoroute around Bordeaux. Hotel L'Escapade is very convenient and relaxing stop. There is a very warm welcome from the owners Nicole and Marc. The rooms are spacious, the pool a lovely start to our holiday on a hot day AND the food is wonderful. I am not a meat eater but this was not a problem even at very short notice. Wine s very reasonably priced whether you choice a carafe of local wine or a bottle. Theres is the choice of eating inside or out as you wish and according to the season and weather conditions. Breakfast was equally delicious. This will now be our regular twice yearly start to our holidays further south. When I retire in the not too distant future we will certainly be spending a few days there to visit the local area.…
A lovely little hotel in a remote location. This was its only disadvantage as it is a car or bike ride from the village. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast good and the restaurant excellent. Nicole and Marc were very welcoming and obliging. We were only sorry we did not not have big enough tummies to enjoy more of their lovely food!
We found this restaurant by accident because it does not come up on TA under a search for restaurants in Port Sainte Foy-et-Ponchapt. We hadn't booked but Madame Nicole provided us with a choice of tables. Monsieur Marc, her husband and chef de cuisine, also greeted us and he provided us with a description of the specials. Service thoughout the balmy evening was steady and timely and without haste. The food is exactly why we come to France. It is traditional, hearty, very well cooked, well seasoned and with flavoursome sauces. Just excellent. There is a very good wine list at reasonable prices. The menu was 28 Euros and a la carte choices were around the mid 20 Euros. If I have a criticism it is that the portion sizes could have been reduced a little - my waistline is suffering somewhat from our stay in France.…
I have been a very long standing customer of L'Escapade in Port Sainte Foy close to Bergerac and I have to say that the owners Nicole and Marc have always been fantastic hosts. I have recently come back after a long time away from the region and the place is as superb as it then. The welcome and friendly service always there from the time you call the hotel to when you leave. I am so looking forward to coming back! It was great seeing you again.
My husband and I have stayed there on a few occasions, it is a lovely hotel (logis). The food is excellent and owners are lovely people. The owner Marc is a fantastic chef, his wife is English. Well worth a visit. We would recommend staying in this area too, it is ideal for different lovely scenic venues. There is golf nearby too. Lots of areas to explore on foot and by car. The famous cheese Chaumes is made nearby too.
This Logis is worth more than the two fireplaces and pots it has been given. It is a truly lovely hotel and the restaurant is great. The location is quiet and the rooms are very comfortable. The old building has been renovated to a high standard. The food in the restaurant is delicious and service is unobtrusive but always there. I would certainly return and recommend it wholeheartedly.
