We stayed here in the Summer of 2019, when my wife was 3 months pregnant. The hotel is situated approximately a 5 minute brisk walk from the disney village and then a further 5-10 minutes (longer if stop for shops!) to the entrances of the parks. Check in was very easy as used the Disney Express Luggage Service. With a pregnant wife, this was worth its weight in gold. As such, all our luggage had already been taken to our rooms and we were able to go straight to the park from the train. So when we checked in, it was the evening and understandably the check in area was a little busy. However, it was straight forward enough. I was a little disappointed as I had asked for a room close to the reception, as my wife was pregnant, so whilst they did give a ground floor room, it was one of the furthest on the floor from the reception. The room itself is rather basic, but of course has small disney touches on it here and there. The toilet and bathroom too is basic, but clean and fully functional. We did not eat at the hotel, but we did enjoy the bar on two occasions which has a nice relaxed grown up (non disney) vibe. The pool area is also very nice. The pool has indoor and outdoor sections and is large enough to enjoy peacefully, while children are playing in other parts. You cannot drink around the pool, they are very strict with that. That said, if you wanted total peace and quiet, this pool is not for you, but then neither is Disneyland! All in all, not the most lavish of experiences, but a beautifully presented hotel, with clean and functional rooms, and most importantly a great location near the Disney Village and entrance to the park.

I understand that covid19 has made running a hotel an impossible task at the moment but my overriding issue with my stay here has been that I have paid full price for a drastically reduced offering and nobody seems to care. We arrived accepting that the 4 days park entry now didn't include the things that make DLP extra magical, like the fireworks and the parades. We also arrived accepting that the dining package wasn't as good as we had paid for too, there's no buffets & the table service menus are fairly limited. But the hotel then had no swimming pool use, which was one of the main things we were hoping to use to fill our time after the park and restaurants shut early (plus i specifically booked a hotel with a pool because my kids love swimming!) The rooms were stripped bare, we had no working TV to keep up with the changing news situations & when the new lockdown/confinement regulations were announced on our second to last day, it was clear our feelings of being more like prisoners than hotel guests was justified. I paid full price for this break, and had already cancelled & rearranged throughout the year (I booked this break in 2019) but with flights booked seperately, I was running out of luck with getting refunds and rescheduling opportunities so we had to go for it. To make matters worse, when the new lockdown/confinement was announced, it came into effect on our last day, when we were going to spend a full day in the park before a very late evening flight back to the UK. The park would be closed for the foreseeable so, as check out is 11am, we politely asked if we could stay in our room as we had nowhere to go with 2 children for 7 hours before leaving for the airport. I didn't see this would be a problem as there won't be anyone needing the room after us seeing as everything is shutting down, but a manager bluntly said no we couldn't. Not even a couple of hours. No. No reason why, just no. We were told we could wait in the foyer, so after staff rudely kept walking in our room from 8.30am onwards, we had a few hours sat in a corridor in the foyer following a doggy bag breakfast with 2 children (1 who is autistic) because the restaurant is shut now too. How magical! The corridors are nicer than the awful rooms are though so it was OK for while, someone sympathetically brought us coloring sheets & crayons, & balloons, before someone else who worked there asked for the details of my booked taxi, while assuring me they weren't kicking us out. I presumed he wanted the details for the security lodge to let the taxi through at our booked departure time but no HE ACTUALLY PHONED MY PRIVATE SHUTTLE TAXI AND TOLD HIM TO COME RIGHT NOW! My shuttle phoned to confirm and this hotel guy came again to tell me they weren't kicking us out but could we get all our stuff & wait outside in the car park?! In the 2 minutes it took to get our coats and bags together, someone else came to tell us to leave immediately while we were clearly going as fast as we could. This man then escorted us out in stern silence like we were criminals or something? This is absolutely disgusting treatment & you should be ashamed of yourselves. We had less than 2 more hours to wait but they decided to kick us out within minutes whilst telling us "we're not kicking you out". Absolutely unreal! Nobody mentioned any of this when we asked about our options the day before. I'm shocked how anyone thinks its acceptable to take someone's personal details of a transfer booking & then walk away and phone someone's private transfer company to tell the driver they must come immediately, without even consulting the customer. I assume they talked to the driver on the phone like dirt too as he arrived 45 minutes after we were kicked out in bemused state. A final thing to say is that the restaurant staff are an absolute credit to the company. They stayed happy and pleasant and professional in the darkest times for them personally. It's a shame these are the people that are left on the front line fire fighting the corporate greed and inhumanity behind the scenes.

In 2010 we visited and after having seen it in all its glory and sparkle during its early years, seeing it as it had ended up was quite upsetting. The facilities were run down and some of them were absolutely disgusting and unhygienic. Not only that the characters would shun the adults over the kids, where as Walt Disney wanted his parks to be for all ages, even the big kids among us. After that visit, if I am being honest it put me off wanting to go back, however DLP always held a place in my heart having spent lots of happy holidays with my Nan. We found a good deal and having heard that Walt Disney Company had taken back full control we felt maybe it was time to give it one more chance. We’d originally booked to stay at Sequoia Lodge but sadly Covid struck and our original plans had to be changed. As SL was to be closed when our trip was rescheduled for, we were upgraded to Newport Bay Club and given a Compass Club room. Having stayed in NPB back when it first opened in 1992, I was excited to re-experience the hotel and create new memories with my family. On arrival the security was top notch and we all felt incredibly safe. It seemed very clean and as we were staying Compass Club I was escorted to the private checkin area, my parents were taken through the ‘secret door’ and offered refreshments while I checked us in. The staff were superb both in the checkin room and in the lounge, they were friendly and so helpful. We felt like royalty with the treatment we received, we took our luggage up to our lovely suite. As I’d mentioned the trip had originally been for my Mum and Dads wedding anniversary when we went into the room there was a little card and balloons. The room seemed extremely clean and I was told that due to Covid they wouldn’t be coming into clean the room unless we asked for it and if we required clean towels and complimentary teas, coffees and toiletries we would be left alone with the room. We were all quite happy with this, as our room felt more like a protective bubble that way. Throughout the hotel there was hand sanitizer stations & the elevators were one family per ride. Face masks had to be worn at all times except in your hotel room & when you were seated to eat. The lounges breakfast was lovely you had personal service & they were attentive. The staff seemed to enjoy talking with you as well, which was nice compared to all those years back when you were made to feel unwelcome. All in all a fab trip & we can’t wait to return.

Just returned from a short stay at Newport Bay. The staff went out of their way to make our stay magical. We were upgraded to stay here due to our original holiday being cancelled in March. It was for an Anniversary celebration and there was a lovely surprise when we entered the room, balloons and a card. Whilst the room wasn’t cleaned during our stay I felt safer due to Covid-19 knowing no one had entered the room. They had left plenty of towels and we were told to contact Customer Service/Housekeeping if we needed anything extra. Will definitely be returning next year.

Hello. We had booked the Disneyland Hotel however due to the Covid 19 lockdown we were given Castle Club at Newport Bay instead. What a lovely surprise. Not a hotel we would have chosen first HOWEVER..It was truly lovely. Lovely bathroom freebies, free snacks in the room waiting for us and lovely staff. One thing I will mention On arriving in our room and putting our clothes into drawers etc we noticed the drawers were very fast to open and would then make a loud bang. We weren't concerned.. Only we had a call from reception saying they'd had a complaint that we were making a lot of noise. I did feel so embarrassed as we'd only just got there and felt to blame for a complaint. I did explain on the phone etc, but it did put a damper on our first few moments there. Perhaps this is something you can look at? I didn't care, but the person next door cared enough to complain. (I thought it was over the top personally) Over all. I'd love to thank the staff that worked in the castle club from Sept 8th until Sept 13th. They were amazing :)
