2021 Travellers' Choice Best of the Best
Flanked by water on both sides, Curtain Bluff sits on a rocky promontory (bluff) that juts into the sea between two beautiful beaches. One is calm, ideal for swimming and watersports; the other beach is washed by ocean surf. 72 Rooms and suites, all with staggering seascape views, are spread out along the Surf Beach and up the bluff. There are two restaurants: the open-walled Tamarind Tree serving breakfasts and candle-lit dinners, and the Beach Cafe & Bar, where barefoot-casual lunches are enjoyed one step from the sand and a few feet from the water's edge. The resort's exceptional facilities include a championship tennis center, a fully equipped watersports center (scuba, Windsurfing, paddle-boarding, waterskiing, Hobie Cats and kayaks), a squash court and fitness center. When it's time to relax, there's our tranquil spa overlooking the sea, a beachside swimming pool, a beach bar, and hammocks swaying in the shade of coconut palms. With the exception of a few above-and-beyond luxuries (Cuban cigars, vintage wines, spa treatments), everything is included in the room rate, making it one of the best values in the Caribbean.

Curtain Bluff is superb for its tennis facility and tennis training staff. It is ideal for a leisurely well earned vacation week. It is a COVID pandemic free. The staff was courteous and efficient. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The food delicious, well prepared and served. This is my third trip to Curtain Bluff.

A superb individual hotel which has perfected the all inclusive concept. Everything is included from fine dinning to scuba diving and all stops in between. The food is truly memorable with ever changing evening menus featuring luxury ingredients such as lobster, scollops, filet steak and more, with interesting and imaginative combinations. Lunch and breakfast are also very good. All meals are a la carte and all are served. No queueing for picked over buffet meals at Curtain Bluff. The rooms are excellent all have stunning sea views and every comfort you could reasonably expect in a 5 star hotel. Activities abound, tennis, squash, sailing, kayak, paddle board, yoga and many more. The two beaches are lovely, one calm as a mill pond and ideal for swimming and children playing, the other on the windward side of the Bluff is rougher but still great for reasonably confident swimmers. I could go on and on about this beautiful hotel but I will with the best, the staff from Managers to Garden Boys are amazing and they make the hotel extra special. They offer warm and friendly service without ever slipping into over familiarity, their smiles and laughter sum up Antigua and make this a truly world class hotel

We normally stay in luxury chains because you know what to expect from them so we were a little nervous coming to Antigua because there are no familiar 5 star hotel brands. We needn’t have worried because Curtain Bluff is as good as any Four Seasons or St Regis we’ve stayed at. It has beautiful rooms, an amazing location and great service. We also normally avoid all-inclusive hotels but I have to say the food was exceptional at Curtain Bluff. We always ordered from the a la carte menu and we were never disappointed. This hotel is run by a family who obviously put a lot of love and effort into creating a beautiful environment for their guests. Last night we were invited (along with other guests) to the owners house on the cliff edge for champagne, cocktails and food. When was the last time the owner of your favourite hotel chain invited you for drinks at their house? This is quite a chilled hotel and the majority of the guests are retired or families so if you are looking for more of a party vibe there are better options on the island. We will be in Antigua for a month so we feel lucky to have found this gem on our first week because it gives us more time to return for a longer stay before we leave.

We just returned from a wonderful week at Curtain Bluff. I am picky and did lots of research prior to booking. It was a fabulous resort- top notch. Everyone was happy and helpful always wanting to please us. Our children had the best week. There are plenty of activities for all ages. Beach is gorgeous. Don’t hesitate to book! The food is amazing and our premium suite was awesome!

I had been twice to Curtain Bluff in short business trips in the past (although it is certainly not a business hotel) and I was so positively impressed that I decided to take my wife and daughter to a holiday there. It was a very wise decision. Since then, we have become regular visitors. We have just returned from our first vist there in the COVID era and I can confirm they are better than ever and you couldn't feel any safer. I have been to many resorts and islands in the Caribbean and I don't think there is anything like Curtain Bluff, the perfect combination between a boutique hotel and an all-inclusive resort. Location is superb, not far from the airport, in a quiet part of Antigua, flanked by two beaches, one rough, ideal for surfers, and a very calm bay, perfect for families and water sports. The resort has very extensive grounds for a relative small number of guests so you will never have to reserve loungers or wait for tables, tennis courts, etc. Food is outstanding, all a la carte, except the exceptional lunch buffet (where you also have a la carte options). The menus include many options and the food is always presented very nicely, warm and promptly. A 5-star cuisine in the Caribbean!!! I could go on and on about the positives of CB but let me concentrate on the two highlights: the people and the value for money. The team is large and of incredible nice disposition and superb training. It is headed by the omnipresent owner/founder, Chelle, the General Manager, Rob and the Resident Manager, Wendy. They lead by example, greeting everybody, making everybody feel part of a family. Logically, everybody else follows the lead. You don't need to wait for a waiter, a beach assistant, a bar tender, they will always be there with a smile and a nice disposition. And then, it comes the issue of the cost. Yes indeed, it is a boutique five star resort and is priced accordingly and competitively. But, when you carefully run the numbers and realise you don't have to pay extra for speciality restaurants, premium dishes, motorised water sports, premium drinks, sea view rooms (all rooms have sea views), room service, not even tips (the inelegant, uncomfortable and embarrassing practice of all day long tipping does not apply there), you come to the conclusion it is actually good value for money. If you have reached this point of your reading and haven't booked Curtain Bluff yet, do hurry up, you don't need to do any further research, you have already found the best resort in the Caribbean
