Hellisandur was our last destination for our Iceland trip. The hotel was clean and warm. We had experienced the amazingness of hotel breakfast's during the previous week, so we were a little disappointed in the lack of eggs. The hotel staff was friendly and the location was extremely easy to find.

Not only is this hotel very overpriced, but because it is not staffed for most of the day, it is difficult to access your room or make any reasonable requests.Given the price, we expected a very nice hotel and room, but in fact the hotel and room were quite shabby and worn. Lastly, the hotel advertises itself as having a...

On our road trip from Reykjavik around the Snæfellsnes peninsula, we needed a place to spend the night at approximately the half-way point. Our choices were limited but we found great value at the Hotel Hellisandur, located near Snæfellsnes National Park. The oddest thing about the hotel was the fact that it is semi-automated in that it has no reception...

This is the simplest hotel ever. It has nearly no staff, but if I would lover the price, and make it warmer and more nice. Paint and blanket would do the trick. Maybe better breakfast also, would do the trick. The room for disabled had a huge sofa that took up lof of space...but the bathroom had all the things...

Upon arrival, our first experience with this hotel was not very good. We arrived with a tour group around 5:30 p.m. and the only person there was one of the workers who spoke very little Icelandic nor English as he was Bulgarian. We were quite surprised, as they knew to expect our arrival. As some of us proceeded to enter...

Rooms are clean and comfortable, a little dated. Self check-in worked out well. They provide you with two codes a week prior to your visit, one for the building and another for your room. Nice location right outside of Snaefellsjoekull National Park.

Totally unimpressed. There are no staff on check in, it's all done by email. There was a problem accessing our room and we had to phone someone for help. We eventually got in and when we phoned back to let them know, there was no answer. There was no coffee facilities other than a carafe that had been sitting in...

After a very disappointing experience at another self-service hotel belonging to the same hotel chain as this one, we were quite wary about what we would find here. As it turned out, however, we were very pleased. Especially considering the size of most of the hotel rooms we had in Iceland, this one was quite spacious and comfortable and the...

I'm used to two queens or a king bed, a full sized tub/shower and washcloths. The bed was two twins pushed together. We got that at a couple other hotels too so it must be a European thing. There was no tub and the shower was maybe three foot square. Once again that was the same as the other hotels...

Everything is alright with this hotel, automatic entry with code, small shower with no ventilation fan. Clean, standard breakfast offers tasty blue berry yogurt, the room where you can hear the sea... Nothing bothers me. What does is its hard to find a help here if you have any question. If you happen to see a staff around to ask...
