We Just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Grand. It is 25 years old and in need of some repairs, there are bricks missing around the pool lack of umbrellas and no tables and chairs around the pool. If you have problems walking or you are handicap, this is not the resort for you. There are stairs everywhere. The lounge covers are badly stained and very few umbrellas and no tables and chairs as the resort shows in pictures. We stayed in room 123, beautiful view of the ocean, you can hear the waves at night which was very nice. The rooms are clean, unfortunately there was no hot water every night when showering for dinner. The door keys repeatedly fail for some reason, this was a complaint from a few guests. The beds are very comfortable as are the pillows. The pool is great, Eruo is a wonderful man, he bartends at the pool bar, loved him!!! Drinks are great, bit of a wait when it gets busy but worth it! The food is great! Pizza, homemade hamburgers, chicken a wide variety of food, the fresh salad is delicious. excellent daily soup. Special mention to Sandra, a wonderful lady at the omelet station, she goes out of her way to make sure your stay is pleasant. Our server in the Buffet restaurant Neisha is a terrific, always there to fill your glass with water or provide you with whatever you need. Neisha or Jaimie are about the only servers you can count on, the table service is horrible, dirty plates not cleaned off the table, no water or utensils most of the time. If you want salt and pepper you must ask for it. For some odd reason you have to sign your room number at the end of each meal before leaving. The chefs in the kitchen are very accommodating also, if there’s something you need and you don’t see it ask them and they get it ASAP! We ate several times at the bistro the menu varies slightly from the buffet. You get table service it’s very nice and the food is good, special mention to Danielle the server in the bistro she’s wonderful. They do not provide bottled water you can drink the water from the tap here no problem. they are trying to be plastic free resort so good for them, just bring a refillable water bottle from home. If you are looking for entertainment there is nothing other than a gentlemen that plays a steel drum for 1 hour on wed, and a singer another night for 1 hour. The resort overall is a 3 star, if they don’t invest some money in this resort soon we would question going back. Rene the manager has only been there for 6 weeks but was very helpful at resolving any issues we had.

If you're looking for a quiet relaxing getaway without the "all day" party atmosphere then consider Le Grand Courland spa resort. The staff make it their goal to accommodate you and always with a smile. We've never met such happy wonderful people! This resort is smaller, I believe only 70 rooms and during our stay there were less than 50-60 guest in total so we were well taken care of at the restaurants and bars. Our stay was the between the18th of Dec.2019 to until the 26th and the weather was hot and sunny for the most part with an occasional 5 mi shower mid morning the first 2 days. There was never an issue with getting chairs around the pool, although they could use a few more if they get busier. The gorgeous beach is public and shared with the locals but never busy at all .This island is heaven on earth and NOT touristy. It is a safe destination and we wouldn't hesitate to walk around anywhere as the people were so friendly and polite. The food at the Courland is excellent and they offer a different variety daily. The breakfast is a buffet where you eat in an elevated open air grand room with stunning views of the ocean and beach. Hats off to "Sandra" our breakfast chef who remembered our names and made tasty omelets daily with an ear to ear smile. This resort is in excellent condition, and our 3rd floor room offered an excellent view of the ocean. Thanks Sunwing for a fabulous vacation!

We spent 8 nights at Le Grande Courlan. The staff we all the best part of the trip. Smiles and friendly. The resort itself was very quiet, but you make your own fun. The pool was never packed. Although a smaller pool than many resorts we have been to in the past, with the number of guests there, it was big enough. The swim up bar was great. Monty was our favourite bartender, but they were all fantastic. The buffet was small but always had a choice of 3 meats (fish, chicken, pork/beef/goat). The chefs would even accommodate to make specific dishes if you weren't happy with the selection. The rooms were a little dated but very clean.
This is a non-smoking resort with only one designated smoke area. The smokers, myself included, were all very respectful of that and there were no butts on the ground.
Spoke with the owner a few times. Travel is down and puts a hardship on the resort. Tobago is a beautiful island and the people are wonderful. Do yourself a favour and get to see this place. We weren't disappointed. A vacation is what you make of it. We had a blast.

The hotel is in a beautiful location, right on a lovely beach. The beaches in the Caribbean are all public, but this beach was never crowded. The staff are fabulous, especially Euro at the pool bar and Sandra at breakfast. The whole hotel is ‘tired’ it needs major upgrade work, and the rooms, although spacious , are jaded , especially the bathroom. Despite this, the cleaning staff keep them spotless. The wall by the side of the pool was falling to bits and full of litter, although the pol itself was very clean, with a lovely swim up pool bar. There is a pathway leading to the beach from the hotel, unfortunately spoilt by having to walk past a very smelly open hotel sewer! The food was awful the first week, for example ‘spaghetti pie’ consisted of overcooked spaghetti in a congealed stodgy cheese sauce - not good enough for a 4* resort. The second week was better, but still no vegetarian food to speak of in as much as vegetarian protein sources such as pulses were absent. One day ‘black beans’ were offered on the menu, but actually there were none! The breakfasts were good with an excellent variety of choices. A lot of guests said that they wished to serve themselves, the food was served by a chef wearing gloves, and kept covered. I think that this was a much more hygienic way to serve buffet, especially in this age of Coronavirus. We also went to the bistro , which was part of our all inclusive package. The food here was good, but service painfully slow, for example on Valentines night it took 90 mins to be served a very simple starter. The whole evening was made worse by an altercation between some fellow diners who were clearly not impressed with the wait or the food, and liberal use of the F word did not add to the romantic atmosphere!
It was apparent to us that the staff were unhappy with the management, and that corners were cut all the time to reduce costs, including paying very low wages, and diluting the alcohol. With better management and attention to detail and decor, this hotel could earn its 4* status easily.
The spa is run by a different company and is immaculate, with lovely staff and fabulous treatments. Go down there to see what the rest of the hotel could be upgraded to.
Would I return here - to Tobago yes, but to this hotel , no unless upgraded and the staff treated better by management. Tobago itself is beautiful, and the people adorable, so I would return to a different hotel.

We stayed at this resort from January 16 to January 30 The check in was quick and professional, we had a nice room with beautiful ocean view. We booked our excursions through the front desk. All the front desk girls were very nice but Natasha ( front desk manager) was exceptional my husband had a good time teasing her and being teased back. She made our stay even more enjoyable. Michelle ( bar and restaurant manager) makes the best drinks, she is very hard working lady never stops working. Rayanne another hard working employee in the restaurant always on the go and doing her work with the smile. Ryan ( resort manager) is a hands on manager he is involved in every aspect of the hotel from interacting with guests , dealing with complaints even taking sick guests to the hospital and staying with them. He came to say goodbye and wave when guests were leaving. In all our travels we never met such a welcoming atmosphere from them. The resort is not perfect but with this wonderful people leading the way this resort will improve in every aspect.
The island is beautiful, unspoiled beaches, rain forest. Must go to Pigeon Poin the sea is come and warm with beautiful turquoise waters.

We also booked a Bioluminoscence trip with Frankie Tours that was the most disappointing experience we ever had. They advertise to take you to No Man's Land beach with bbq style buffet and bonfire under the moon and stars, and to see the Bioluminoscence. What a joke that was we paid 80 US $ each to get take out dinner no bonfire the most disappointing was when the tour guy took a broom to splash the water repeatedly saying" you see the light " . Seriously between myself and my husband we spent 160 US $ for this . In my words this was a total rip off. We were with another couple from UK they were also dissatisfied .

Would we go back to this resort? Definitely if the price is right.

This hotel totally lacks any form of management resulting in the following consequences :-
1/ The food on offer was appalling never very hot, terrible presentation with waiting staff who could not really careless resulting in very little service at your table even when requested so it was quicker to get your own coffee, wine etc. & would you believe never any salt & pepper on the tables!
2/ We had a room issue & complained many times to the front desk manageress before we eventually got an unacceptable response 2 days before we were due to return home.
3/ Drinks were acceptable but suffered from too much ice which obviously saved them from putting too much alcohol into the glass! The Breezes bar had one very good & nice barman but he left only to be replaced by a barman who would have cracked his face is he ever smiled!
4/ Our room 213 was nice & spacious, clean but in need of a bit of updating especially in
the bathroom.A /C & ceiling fan very efficient but very noisy. After a room clean we were sometimes left with no towels & this required 2 phone calls to get them delivered to our room.
5/ The hotel advertised 2 restaurants but The Caribbean Bistro was closed so all meals had to be taken in The Pinnacles restaurant which was a disaster for reasons as stated in 1/.
6/ The hotel was in a very secluded position with well maintained grounds but with many steps to get down to the sea & up again! No activities etc.near to the hotel so nice & quiet. If you want sun loungers around the hotel pool then you have to reluctantly put your towels on them before 6 a.m. This is yet another example of poor hotel management in preventing this awful practice.

But there appears to be improvements on the horizon..............!
In view of the many complaints from guests there were signs that things were beginning to get better. One example was that the hotel decided to open The Caribbean Bistro a day before we were due to leave but only in the evenings. However we decided to give it a try & booked a table the night before. On arrival we were nonchantly told that someone else just turned up & took our table ( good management eh! ). By this time I had had enough so we planted ourselves on the only available vacant table. Staff were speachless but eventually served us with a very nice meal.

This hotel together with the Grafton hotel ( Stalag 17 ) next door appear to be owned by an Indian consortium & it is our opinion that they don’t pay their staff a decent enough wage for them to be interested in their jobs.

Take our advise & stay at The Coco Palm Hotel instead - it may cost more but you won’t be wasting your money.

Great pool and nearby beach, overall a nice holiday. Easy to tour the island from hotel. Negatives are facilities and rooms very dated and in need of refurbishment. Very limited sunbeds (40) for the whole hotel and these had towels on them by 6.00am!! Food choice limited and often overcooked. Drinks were reasonable but bottled water was excluded on all inclusive and service quite slow. Our room was kept clean. There were no lifts and ramps were also quite steep.

There are approx 80 stairs down to the road that separates the resort from the beach with no ramp alternative.
The resort does not offer chair or umbrella service on the beach.
The poolside chair pads are badly stained and are not taken in at night so when it rains they are soaked in the morning.
There are an insufficient number of pool umbrellas as evidenced by approx 5 empty umbrella stands left out among the chairs.
The unused patio that overlooks the sister resort and stairs to the beach road is bordered by a low wall intended to have decorative plants but is almost bare except for many cigarette butts that were never cleaned up during our stay. This same patio has an open drain trough with an unprotected hole.
The lone poolside bartender was great but appeared to have no assistance. Several times each day he had to run to the inside bar to replenish supplies which could take up to 15 minutes each time. He also had to walk the entire pool area looking for used drink glasses. And he could offer no explanation for not keeping soda water at this bar.
We thought the food was good but I suggest yogurt could always be offered at breakfast.
Also the resort could include a washable reusable water bottle at check-in for guests that don't bring their own to get water from the fresh water dispensers.
I hope the resort acts on this constructive review to improve their guests experiences and encourage repeat visits.

We stayed here for a week for our honeymoon. When booking, we were asked if we were celebrating anything special and we mentioned this. We received nothing special/additional.

The staff are extremely helpful. They truly shine and are the best thing about this resort. They really go the extra mile for you here. We were told that housekeeping would be every other day but they cleaned our rooms everyday

The breakfast was really good (the chef comes out from time to time for feedback). During the week, you order the meals and they're prepared for you so you have to wait around 10 mins. They might not have some items on the menu. During the weekend, breakfast was buffet style (since there were more guests).

Bars are closed because of covid 19. I only saw the bar by the pool open once on a Saturday evening and the other bar only opened on weekends as well. The WiFi reception is very weak in the rooms. Lovely pool and they offer tennis rackets at the front desk.

Our room had a lovely ocean view but the bathroom fan didn't work, the only thing that i didn't like (other than the poor WiFi). There's a safe, an iron (no ironing board), a mini fridge, desk, porch set. Also to note, the walls are thin.

First off, the package offered post quarantine was a deal. That being said, it shouldn’t mean lower prices means lower standards.
A storm had cancelled my flight and getting back the package which I had already paid for was quite the hassle, not to mention a refund was not in the discussion. While I was able to badger my way back into the package which I originally booked, the car which came with the package was quite late, leading me waste most of my first day. Anyway, over the 3 days we stayed, house keeping never visited, never emptied the bins or gave us fresh towels. Plus we repeatedly complained that the hot water was not available and it was never checked nor did we get a discount for this inconvenience.
The hotel seriously needs to address their falling customer service standards, as it takes away from an otherwise great location.

Hello, great question - it is recommended when the hotel is busy that you make reservations at either restaurant, this can be done through out today. Hope this helps. Le Grand!
