Stayed at Mt Irvin Bay Resort during the Easter Weekend with my two children. The staff were very attentive and courteous, rooms were spacious and clean and overall the resort was well maintained and enjoyable. The pool was definitely a plus for my children and we all enjoyed the close proximity to the beach across the road!! The additional activities that were included during the weekend ( egg hunt and petting zoo) made the vacation even more memorable for the children!! They loved it!! Would recommend this resort!!

We had our honeymoon at Mount Irvine bay and thought it would be the perfect place to celebrate 25 years together, but we wish we had gone elsewhere. The whole complex is in need of serious investment and is generally shabby and fraying at the edges. The food is average, and it simply isn’t the luxurious spot it was 25 years ago. Worst of all, instead of putting a hold on our credit card when we checked in the hotel charged it with a substantial amount, and to date has never refunded the money, despite 2 expensive international phone calls and several emails to try and get it resolved. We’ll never be back.

Thank you for your review; we apologise for the negative experience you have detailed during your reservation in February. During your stay, representatives of our management team reached out to you in an effort to address your concerns and enhance your visit. Your concern regarding credit card charges is further complicated by your use of one credit card upon check in and another at checkout. We are confident that your statements will reflect an accurate account of charges outlined on your final folio but will reach out to you soonest. Our current renovation project and planned amenity upgrades will help us to provide the quality experience you remember and we hope to have a future opportunity to accommodate you again.

The hotel is being renovated so half in a tatty mess and subsequently like a ghost town. Despite this we were woken every night by noisy neighbours both above and each side. Our request to be moved to a quiet area of the hotel (as I did on booking) was refused, resulting in poor sleep quality for the week. Broken patio door. Broken front door. Broken toilet seat. Safe keypad was temperamental. Noisy leaking air con with cobwebs on. Golf course is also closed and has been for three years so false advertisement from Tui. I expect far more from a £2300 TUI package holiday, than just lovely breakfast staff.

We really enjoyed our stay in the hotel. The staff are the greatest asset - everyone was so kind and helpful. Breakfast was an amazing experience-we especially enjoyed the coconut bake and local accompaniment-plantain, tomato choka, salt fish etc. as well as the amazing omelette. All our tours were sorted by very helpful Joel who also works in the restaurant. The best part of the stay was meeting the ginger hotel cat , the handsome “Irvine” at breakfast. He’s very friendly and the staff take good care of him - a hotel that loves and cares for animals is top tier in my opinion. There’s a basic gym that needs to be pre booked with treadmills weights, a spin bike and various bits and pieces. The guy who runs the gym was so pleasant and helpful- he gave my hubby personal training sessions each visit at no additional cost. There is a nice hotel bar at the beach. The bar in the hotel does some nice rum punch and prices for drinks are very reasonable. Strictly speaking the hotel is not 5 star as it needs a little refurb in some areas but I have rated it 5 star as I think the rough edges are due to the severe bashing the tourism industry on the island took during Covid and should be ironed out soon as the economy improves. Some suggestions: 1. If you like coffee bring your own as the restaurant espresso machine was broken and remained so for the duration of the visit. Quality bean coffee is hard to come by on the island, there is a very bad tasting brand in the supermarkets. Unfortunately the hotel served Nescafé instant coffee. I would suggest the hotel invests in a few coffee machines and quality beans as expats expect good coffee on a morning and don’t consider Nescafé to be proper coffee. 2. The hotel should consider a basic lift for those less able, there are 3 levels and no lift , that being said the hotel staff kindly help with luggage. 3. The hotel cat Irvine: he’s so handsome and charming. Please take some wet and dry cat food in your luggage for him as cat food in the local supermarkets is a bit more expensive. I bought him a bag of dry food and gave it to the restaurant staff and they give him a bit each day. Irvine deserves a framed photo In reception.

The Mount Irvine experience is all about the outstanding staff. Pauline and her omelettes. Joel and his coconut bread. The team organising dining. The staff down on the beach. They are all a credit to the organisation. Conscientious. Friendly. Caring. And above all, don’t miss the Friday night fish fry down on the beach.

Staff: Those who I had interaction with were very courteous and hospitable. Most of this impression goes to the kitchen staff, they were amazing and I always felt welcome, greeted with a warm smile. The person who checked us in was very informative and polite, even helped with my bags. A separate 10/10 just for the lady who did the omelette station Meal: Breakfast was included and it was very tasty, with fruit options each morning. Building: Large place with a very chill vibe. The room was large enough for double occupancy. There were two beds, not sure why, but we rolled with it. I do dn't appreciate every evening having to go back and forth from the cottage to the reception to because the key card didn't work once the housekeeper used thier card to enter the room. One evening, I had to walk back and forth twice, because they chose not to send the maintenance guy right away. (The cottage I stayed in wasn't in the main building) Also small negative was, once using the pool, they're supposed to provide towels. I went to reception who advised they'd bring it to me at the pool. Stayed for more almost two hours and no one ever came, so I had to walk all the way to the cottage wet and cold, which I don't think anyone would like.

Great location with lots of space, sunset views and lush tropical vegetation. Really friendly, professional staff and a great breakfast. Rooms very comfortable. Lobby is fantastic - very open and breezy - and a good sized pool. Local beach has everything. Big Up Mount Irvine Hotel and Big Up Tobago too. 😎 Michael from London

We stayed at the Mount Irvine Bay Resort in Tobago for 10 days. The Hotel was approximately 20 minutes drive from the Airport and was in a nice location by the beach with an impressive lobby and nice garden with water features. Unfortunately when we arrived at the hotel there was no one there to greet us and we had to wait 10 minutes by reception for a staff member to turn up and check us in, however they were apologetic and very friendly and offered us a free cocktail before escorting us to our room. We had booked the Superior Room which had two double beds but the room but was spacious and clean. There was no Kettle but a coffee maker so it took a lot longer to heat water for tea / coffee but the TV worked fine and the room had the added bonus of a large fridge to store our drinks and snacks in. There was also an Iron and Hairdryer. The bathroom was spacious and shower took a while to get warm but as it was hot everyday we mainly had cool showers anyway. There was a balcony with a decent view although next to a path leading to the beach so we often had people walking past. The patio door was also a pain as it sometimes got jammed but the balcony was a good size. The hotel is a short walk from the beach (less than 4 mins from ouR room) and sun beds and beach towels were provided free by the hotel. The beach was nice and relatively clean. There is a bar (part of mount Irvine hotel) but it was often unstaffed and whenever we wanted a snack they never seemed to be open for food so we ended up walking a couple of minutes further up the beach to the Anchor Bar which is very good as served food until 6pm and you could sit on the beach with your snacks listening to music. Good Vibes, good food and good music!! We used the Spa which is separate from the hotel. We had a pedicure and massage with Hazel who was very accommodating. We only used the Pool a couple of times but it was always clean and never got busy so there was lots of seats at the poolside. When we wasn't at the Anchor Bar, we ate at the hotel. I think we only had three evening meals. One was Valentines day where they had a piano player which was nice and a set menu which was steep 500TT dollars each. Another time we ordered the Chefs special only to be told it wasn't available which was disappointing. There was a Lime and Tapas night which was the best evening food we had and there was a DJ too so this was a good night. Just a shame this was the only evening entertainment during our stay as it was very enjoyable, Other than that it was difficult to get food during the day from about 10-7pm as the bar was often not staffed I'm guessing due to proximity to the carnival / empty hotel. There was an added bonus of a Hotel Cat called Irvine which seem to take a liking to us and even waited outside our balcony once before dinner! The breakfast however was a different story. Lots of choice of food, lots of staff, food was very nice Pauline made the best omelettes and always made us feel welcome with her smile. Coreen and Ms Demster were there every morning to greet us and very helpful and Joel was on hand each day to explain the specials and gave us some great tips for places to visit and even gave us a lift to the shops when he passed us walking to get some snacks. A real credit to the hotel those four members of staff. Also have to mention Chris the Hotel Supervisor (I think) My wife wanted to attend church so he rang around finding a suitable one and arranged a taxi to pick us up. Very appreciative of that. The Hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the nearest shop and similar walk to nearest ATM which unfortunately was in the opposite direction Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Mount Irvine we just wish there was some more entertainment in the evenings and more options for snacks as we spent a lot of time at the Anchor Bar and had the beach bar have the same vibe we would've spent more time there instead but overall we really enkoyed our stay here and would come back here

We spent a wonderful two weeks at Mount Irvine. We loved the location. Sure enough, some parts of the property are a little dated but we did get the impression that management and staff are doing their best to bring the grounds and the golf course back up to standard. Furthermore, the friendly staff and service level were beyond our expectations. On arrival we were surprised that we had been upgraded to a suite overlooking both the gardens and the Sea. The historic and impressive Sugar mill restaurant, were breakfast and dinner are served, was a great place to start the day and have a friendly chat with the staff. We also quickly became best friends with the resident cat, that was allowed near the restaurant but never was a bother. After breakfast, when we would stay at the resort, there was a choice of spending some time in the lovely, well-maintained pool, go for a stroll in the surrounding gardens and golf course or go to the beach. The beach is an easy 2 minutes downhill walk. The beach facility was superb; we felt very safe and well looked after by the staff. The beach is not exclusively for hotel guests, which we enjoyed for we liked watching the local families having fun at the beach in the late afternoons. Great opportunities for snorkelling- even better than Buccoo reef or other snorkelling spots like Speysite. We found out that the best area for snorkelling at the Mount Irvine beach facility is apposite to the lifeguard tower at Anchor bar & grill, a little further down the beach. Be aware of big stingrays in the shallow sandy area near the rocks that divide the Mount Irvine beach section from the section were Anchor bar & grill is situated. After returning from the beach the pool area was quite nice to enjoy breath-taking sunset views while enjoying a sundowner. The Sugar Mill restaurant menu for the evening meal was limited, however the food was very good and the friendly staff heart-warming. We learned that the new GM has plans for upgrading the service level and announced changes in the menu. We were impressed by the friendly and helpful staff. We truly connected with some staff members and felt like leaving friends behind when we left. We would love to return. Thank you Dornette, Corenne, Virgil, Lawson, Mo, Sanchez, Annel, Polly, Ryan and other staff members not mentioned for a memorable vacation.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Despite the stark appearance from the outside, our 'cottage' was modern, clean, spacious and had everything that we needed. The pool was excellent. We really enjoyed our breakfast, especially with Pauline cooking omelettes and Joel serving - both always with beaming smiles. Staff provided us with a great packed breakfast when we had a very early morning tour. The menu for the evening meal was limited, however the food was good. We love bird watching and discovered a large variety in the greenery at the edges of the hotel grounds. If you're a tea drinker, you may want to bring some teabags with you as they weren't always restocked in the room. All the photos attached were taken in the hotel grounds.
