We stayed in Guesthouse Virkið for one night. The room was one of the most modern we stayed at during our trip to Iceland and had both TV and internet in the room. The room was clean and spacious, as was the bathroom. The view from the windows isn't perhaps as picturesque as you find in other guesthouses but it...

The big draw here is that you can have a private bathroom in a clean and friendly accommodation that is well priced. The breakfast spread is bountiful and varied. The hostess is accommodating, very helpful and friendly. A bonus is that there is a superett just below and you are located in the midst of a functional working seaport. But...

Its is kind of in the middle of nowhere. We got there by accident actually. From the outside it doenst look like much but basically you will get a avery nice room, like a regular good hotel. Good beds, very clean and enough space for your clothes. In a very small city, a fishermen village. Not much to do there....

Don't be deceived by the outside of this guest house. It is located over a hardware store and a grocery. The actual accomodations are top-notch. Rooms are modern and spacious. Ours was a corner room with many large windows, facing the glacier, and an arctic tern nesting ground. Hostesses Erla and her mom Kristin treat their guests very well. The...

We stayed here one night on our tour through the Snaefellsjökull National Park. Situated above a (medi-) supermarket. Lovely and clean rooms. Some with view of the Snaefellsjökull Glacier. Lots of birds flying around. Both to be seen from the balcony while basking in the Midsummer Evening Sun. Very friendly Lady Host. No in-house restaurant in but Olafsvik, with several opportunities,...

Stayed just one night but wish it had been more. Family run guesthouse with lovely big airy rooms, very comfortable bed, everything spotlessly clean, and a great breakfast next day. Lovely owner who was most helpful. Don't be put off by the outside of the property . Yes it's above a shop but behind the front door you will find...

Don't judge the building from the outside, it's beauty lies inside ;) we stayed there for two nights, large room, everything new. View on Saefellsjökull. Great breakfast buffet, reasonable price, friendly owners (family business). Rif is very small, there is one coffee house we did not visit. In Ólafsvik there is a great restaurant called 'Hraun' which was delicious. Good...

We stayed at the Virkid on the second night of our 14-night tour of Iceland in August 2014. As other reviewers have commented, Rif is just a speck on a map in the Snaefellnes peninsula and the guesthouse is located above a convenience store but the accomodation was one of the nicest on our tour. This was our second night...

As Ralph L stated, the first impression when you arrive is a bit weird as the hotel is above a super-market and not necessarily very welcoming ... but the rooms make it all up: big, modern, spotlessly clean and nice bath-rooms. There are some common balconies from which you can get a nice glimps of the nearby waterfall, church and...
