Tanagra Wine and Guestfarm is quite a find and Faraway Cottage, situated seemingly in the middle of nowhere (but in fact within easy distance of the homestead, McGregor and Robertson), is even more so. This beautifully appointed cottage with its deep bath and accompanying stunning view, beautifully kitted out kitchen (beware - no oven), comfy beds with crisp white linen,...

We stayed 3 nights with some family (who live in SA) whilst visiting from the UK. Bottlebrush cottage is lovely, so well laid out and equipped whilst basic! the pool was welcoming and we welcomed the new year with a braii. Lovely area and welcoming owners. Wine very tasty but grappa just a bit too strong for my tastebuds! PS...

We spent two nights at the Hill Cottage at Tanagra Wine Farm and wish we could have stayed longer. The owners (and cute dogs) are amazingly friendly; they even offered us an extensive wine and grappa tasting upon arrival. The Hill Cottage itself was perfect – not only was it located in a stunning setting amidst the vineyards, it was...

Everything makes you feel at home here. The owners Annette and Robert make you very welcome and are very accommodating. We stayed in the Garden Cottage, whilst rustic, has everything you could possibly need including a welcome bottle of Cabinet Sauvignon 2012 which was so good it did not last very long. The whole area is spectacularly beautiful and the...

We stayed for 2 nights in Faraway Cottage. It is one of the best self catering cottages I have ever stayed in and the fact that it is off the grid (using solar and gas) makes it even more amazing. The cottage is equipped with everything you need, the bed is so comfy, the bath with a view is a...

What a find ! we stayed in Faraway and unfortunately just for 2 nights. Can't find anything to critise, we loved the comfy beds, the great showers and the beautiful views. Its a real retreat to get away from it all. We will definitely come back. The owners are a lovely friendly couple, they gave us a warm welcome and...

We just recently spent a weekend at Tanagra, and what an amazing place it is! Everything contributed to this wonderful weekend. Tanaga is located just outside McGregor, a small town in the Western Cape. It is the perfect getaway! The owners are exremely hospitable and not at all overbearing. We stayed in Hill cottage which has an amazing view of...

Just like the first time we stayed in Faraway Cottage, in January this year, our late spring stay started with torrential rain plus thunder and lightning. There's something very elemental experiencing everything nature can throw at you when one's staying somewhere so remote. Faraway still excels in its architectural design and we fully support the eco credentials. However, it would...

“If you need anything, just ask! Our king size bed had a net, but recommend bringing mosquito spray. A torch or night light is also a good idea as it is very dark at night. Limited cooking facilities. We stayed in the Garden cottage.”
