Booked in without reading the reviews and was really worried when I read a few of the negative comments. Worries completely unfounded! Had a wonderful stay!!! The staff were friendly and helpful; the room was nice; sure the TV was small but I didn't come...More

We stopped by here for lunch yesterday and we're not impressed at all really. The fish was over cooked and overpriced. The setting was nice but there are a lot better places for food further down the beach.

I was there for a day out with some friends and kids. Service was good, and staff was always concerned about customers. Food worth the price. Not so expensive. Nice and clean place. Also quiet one can relax there. All basic facilities are there.

The hotel doesn't help organize anything. When asked, they will refer you to the driver guys outside the gates. I suppose they are fair enough, we shopped around a bit on the Internet and got quotes from various operators. We were very happy with the services of Tumee, contact srilankan-tours at hotmail for prices.
We went to Uda Walawe and had a great elephant experience there, absolutely recommended! Tumee organized the whole trip, a lovely hotel by the national park, a guide with a car in the actual park and everything. Also we had a few stops on the way, and could have had more if we wanted (we did not due to me being a bit unwell).
Graham, the elephants moving from one national park to another sounds very strange.
Also, some people warns about the elephant orphanages, that the elephants easily becomes too trustful of people to function in the wild. We saw proof of that in Uda Walawe, so I would skip that part.
Also I recommend a trip to one of the turtle sanctuaries south of Moragalla, and a daytrip to Galle. We took a tuktuk to the train and train to Galle which was very nice. Crowded but intersting experience. A car doesn't cost much though, and can make stops on the way.
