If you are looking for 5-star luxury, you will be disappointed. But if you have reasonable expectations, you will have a fantastic stay. Other reviews here are very fair as the accommodation is starting to show its age and the place does have a very slightly run-down feel. But it was all beautifully clean and that is the most important thing for us. The grounds are beautiful with the birds roaming everywhere. Pool and games room are all nice to have.
Woodford Bridge does disitnguish itself with the service. Lorraine and Michelle on the main desk were bubbly, friendly and helpful. Staff in the restaurant were all extremely friendly.
On our last evening there was a mix-up in the restaurant as I got the wrong meal. I complained (very politely) and the restaurant manager bent over backwards to apologise and fix the problem. When they brought the new plate everything was freshly cooked and perfect, including the sides. In most places they just keep the sides warm while they prepare the food again and bring out the old plate again. Not here.

We are currently in the middle of a two week stay at Woodford Bridge. I have just read some previous reviews and they are nothing like our experience.
The spacious two floored house (it isn't a one floor appartment that we are used to at some Diamond resorts) was spotless throughout. It looks to have been recently refurbished with lovely modern furnishings throughout and the bonus of a full sized fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine in the kitchen. The grounds are well maintained with designated parking for each appartment. It would benefit from an exterior coat of paint.
We knew the restaurant and bar would be closed before we arrived. Disappointing but not unusual in the current Pandemic. Reception emailed us detailed lists and contact numbers for many pubs and restaurants in the vicinity and in places where we were likely to visit. Reception answered our phone calls immediately and nothing is too much trouble. The pool is open with timed slots booked a day or two in advance.
We knew that staff would have limited access to our accommodation due to Covid but we have been very well supplied with sealed packs of fresh towels, loo roll, bin bags and dishwasher tablets etc. Sheets can be changed by staff after the first week if required.
The location is beautiful but a car is strongly advised as it is quite remote. A good base for sightseeing in Devon Cornwall.

A beautiful discovery in the wilds of Devon - didn't know places like this existed.
Our one-bedroomed lodge was amazing, very luxurious - marble worktops, lights that sensed you using the stairs, 2 large TVs and very comfortable double bed and sofa in the lounge.
We cooked for ourselves and found enough pans, plates etc.
Our only gripe: We were handed a cleaning rota upon arrival (when towels would be changed if required etc) but it wasn't adhered to. We had a visit from the cleaning staff for the first 2 or 3 days, then nothing.

+1
My husband and I are Diamond Club Members and previously have had some lovely stays at Woodford Bridge Country Club.
However we have just returned from a week there in very different sorts of accommodation. We made allowances for COVID but feel often this is used as an excuse.
Checkin was good and the apartment A17 (sleeps 4) was on the ground floor with an allocated parking space. It was in a neglected condition and in need of updating.
* Damp
* Curtains didn’t fit properly and nets were torn in places
* Floor felt sticky & uncomfortable sofa which marked my skirt. Cobwebs and dirty windowsills.
* The kitchen was in good condition but unfortunately the flat surface next to the sink had no drainer & meant the one thin tea towel got very wet but we requested more which were provided.
* Mismatched glasses and crockery.
* Dirty balcony with no furniture.
* We needed a grater (these are on the inventory) but as there wasn’t one we asked reception - my husband went to collect but encountered a receptionist who was very abrupt in saying they didn’t have one. One was found the next day.
The walk in shower in the bathroom had a shower curtain which was mouldy. There was a note in the bathroom to say -Please make sure the shower is turned off properly. We did this constantly but it used to start to drip again.
Consequently we went out on our third day and returned to find the bathroom flooded and into the hallway. A maintenance man arrived and tried to tighten something up. He said the shower had a problem and was due to be replaced when the upgrade took place in a fortnight. Housekeeping also brought extra towels, turned on the radiator to help dry out the floor. He also gave us a couple of bottles of wine, crisps and flapjacks as an apology.
The next day on our return the shower had been leaking again but luckily only in the bathroom.
I went to see reception as we were now worried this might happen again or even in the night.
Francesca was very understanding & rang us later to offer a change of accommodation the next day which we accepted.
Our new accommodation was a 2 bed lodge T42, which was far superior and the only problem was finding a pair of pants in the washing machine.
The F & H Farm Restaurant on site food was very good only let down by the fact it was not very hot. Would be better if served on warm plates.
Despite the problems we had with the accommodation, we found all the staff except the one receptionist to be friendly and helpful.

Not what we expected at all.
One of the bathrooms was filthy, hair in the bath and a lot around the plug, worse the toilet brush container was covered in black mold which was beginning to grow up the wall and then the shaving mirror fell of the wall when my husband touched it. I reported this to reception, they apologised and said they would sort it while we were out for the day. They did not, maintenance put a new toilet brush in the en-suite which was not the filthy bathroom and apparently fixed the mirror in the en-suite again not the mirror that had fell of the wall. When we arrived back after a lovely day out straight away I noticed things had not been sorted. My son who has special needs rushed to get to the toilet and likes to get his pyjamas on as soon as he can which is when I also noticed the filth around the toilet base as well. I rang reception to ask why the jobs hadn’t been done which is when I was told maintenance had been in the en-suite?
Then I started to really look there were cobwebs everywhere. If this apartment had been cleaned before we arrived I’d be surprised. I didn’t sleep much worrying about the muck and in the morning we decided to cut out holiday short and just go home. I couldn’t stay any longer, I feel ill thinking about it writing this review.
We have stayed at this resort before which was lovely, but this time it was not. The other thing that was really disappointing was the on site bar and grill was not open, and staff didn’t seem to know if it would be open and when? although all the literature given and sent to us by email was telling us we could get a meal and a drink from 5pm. Apparently the bar is not run by diamond resorts any more, not a problem you’d think but I don’t think anyone was talking to each other to find out if the answer could be something other than I don’t know? I know this seems not to be a great problem but when you travel with somebody that has special needs having a bar and restaurant on site is a must because then we don’t have to sit in our room all evening.
All in all very disappointing and we shall not be returning to Woodford Bridge.

We have stayed here 3 times previously and we seemed to have found our way, know what to bring for easy self catering although all the kitchen stuff is there.
Waitrose down the road, pubs along the way, not use the amenities such as bar, pool but walked along the river. (We are here on business).
Always had an apartment so this time a 2 bed house was a pleasant surprise. Bathroom upgrades so all new looking and fresh.
Roomy
Warm even in January, just check the hot water has been switched on as the first bath was Luke warm till we checked the Emerson tank to find it switched off,
2nd bath steaming.
Absolute bargain price 😊

Firstly, staff were very pleasant and I was very impressed with the booking service when having to change my booking at the last moment. We had a really great breakfast in the restaurant (extra) and were made to feel very welcome.
However, it’s not cheap, £180/night, although in high season we felt it was way too much for the standard of the rooms. We had a Room laughingly described as a club suite. Largish room but if putting in a microwave (!) and a brabantia kitchen bin made it a suite then the definition isn’t right. Quite old fashioned rooms with dark furniture and worn velour green armchairs. It was all just a bit tatty. Lino in the bathroom all wrinkled up where not been fitted properly, noisy fan ((my pet hate), toilet flush almost impossible to push and heated towel rail not working. Also no air conditioning but it was cold out so not a problem. Generally needs a refurbishment.
Public areas seemed clean and tidy as was the bedroom, just expect a bit more for that sort of money.

Check in was quick and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. The 2 bedroom accommodation is a great size and the beds are very comfortable. We had a problem with the hot water but a maintenance person came and fixed it within 10 minutes. Lovely to see the peacocks and peahens wandering around in the mornings particularly. The resort was well managed throughout the snowy period with most of the roads and walkways being kept safe and clear. The only slightly disappointing thing was the limited hours of the bar/restaurant (not open until 5pm) especially due to the snow and the difficulty of getting about the local area.

On balance this was a nice weekend break but I wish we’d have known that there is only one restaurant on the site and it’s not part of the hotel and run separately. The menu is limited and it’s expensive and the restaurant is not open for breakfast so you can’t have breakfast on site. This means driving to another location (cafe/bakery) etc, the nearest of which is a good 10 mins drive away. This is an odd set up given that the hotel is in the middle of nowhere and means you have to leave early rather than enjoy a leisurely breakfast and then a dip in the pool. The room was clean and well appointed but it was really hot and stuffy and we couldn’t find a way to turn the heating down and being at the front, opening the window meant a lot of road noise from cars. The pool, sauna, gym etc is fantastic and the surroundings, gardens and stream are also lovely. Th pool is for members only for the first and last hours of the opening times and we were informed that we needed book an hour slot to use the pool but when we phoned to do this we were told we didn’t need to. The staff were pleasant and polite too. In summary, the lack of food options for breakfast means we probably wouldn’t go back.

Woodford Bridge should be ashamed of itself. It is happy to employ local people to scrub it's bathrooms and clean up after it's "Diamond members". It is happy to let local people pay exorbitant water rates because of the tourist industry. It is happy to recommend local attractions to it's "Diamond members". But God forbid it lets local people pay A LOT OF MONEY to take out annual membership of the only leisure centre within a 20 mile radius, because, and I quote, "the pool belongs to the ,"Diamond members"!!!!
Shame on you Woodford Bridge. I used to have membership of the leisure centre and most times when swimming in the pool I would be the only person in there. You must be one of the only tourist businesses in Devon that has more money than you need. Thank you for your complete lack of interest in the local community you trade with and use. If you change your mind, let me know because after all is said and done the pool is very nice.

Have any of the apartments have walk in showers as I find climbing into shower over a bath difficult
Certainly the apartment we stayed in had walk-in shower & bath. Clearly I cannot speak for the rest of them. I'm sure if you contact them direct they would be able to help with this.
Yes loads in the trees by the units. Also peacocks that wander around the grounds.
Hello,
Thank you for your question.
At this current time we do not offer local memberships to our leisure center.
This was our first visit to woodford and although we didn't use the leisure facilities we understood they were free to use, maybe contact the hotel, the staff are very helpful.
Yes, a very small shop just inside and to the left of the swimming entrance.
