Macaw Lodge offers comfort in the depths of a natural environment The rooms in the grounds are individually placed and have great views Our lodge was near the main house and looked over the lake and main house beyond It was attractive but others have more natural views over the treetops Good idea to prepare your luggage in advance with...

A beautiful designed building using local materials. Open tread spiral wooden staircase leads to bedrooms. Spacious bedroom with ceiling fan, went to sleep to the sound of many frogs croaking! The bathroom is roomy and imaginative and has used local polished stone. Home cooked food,no choice. Scrumptious bread and hibiscus jam. Thoughtfully designed gardens around lodge with a large pond.Trails leading...

We had a fabulous two nights at Macaw Lodge, terrific rooms with huge windows, not glass just mosquito netting, so it was like sleeping under the stars and with the circadas and frogs. Great walk to the waterfalls and plenty of exotic birds to spot including toucans and many hummingbirds. Three nights would have been fantastic. You couldn't get more...

We enjoyed our stay at Macaw Lodge. The food wasn't the best we had during our Costa Rica holiday but the home made ice cream made up for that. The best rooms in the main lodge are those overlooking the lake but you can also hear everything going on below you. There are several cabins separate from the main lodge...

Off the grid👍, sustainable farm. Food was top notch. The grounds were peaceful and relaxing. Nice hammocks. Enjoyable hike to a gorgeous waterfall and swimming hole. I would highly recommend this lodge to others.

Great place for relax and detox time. Eco-friendly lodge with awesome gardens, trails and a waterfall. Bungalows have a great view to the mountains. Excellent and healthy food. Road requieres a 4WD, but it is NOT dangerous, just bumpy.

This was a complete surprise given the countryside we drove through. Quite a drive to reach but worth it. Greeted by Jessica who was very knowledgeable about the lodge, gardens and its history and so enthusiastic about how it is run and its future plans. She showed us around the area where they grow their own cocoa , veg and...

Don't be put off by the rough ride to get there - it is worth every bone shuddering mile! You are greeted with a warm welcome. Has a 'family ' feel to it from the start of your stay. From treks through the jungle to simply relaxing to admire the beautiful gardens or watching the abundant birds. The highlight was...

“Our room was fine and overlooked the lake and main house beyond It was private but we thought it unusual there were no blinds to the full length windows in the bedroom There are other lodges in the grounds with views over the treetops towards the mountains. A more natural outlook where apart from daylight issues the absence of blinds would not pose any concern Tell reception if you want to use the cooker as matches may be needed ”
