Relaxed and cozy environment. Plenty of animals to see and get an idea of living in a farm. Superb swimming pool. 20 minutes from the beach (furnas and Vila Nova de Milfontes). Good for kids. Free parking. Worth the money.

Our extended family of 9 spent 4 nights at Quinta Do Chocalhinho and we can't recommend this place and the magnificent Margaritta, Luis and Teresa enough. We had time to chill out here before embarking on the Rota Vicentina walking trail and we arrived with 2 of our party "the walking wounded" our son on crutches and daughter with a...

We loved this beautiful bed and breakfast so much that we returned twice! We spent three months in Portugal last year (2013) and had ample opportunity to explore many parts of this lovely country. The Alentejo proved to be our favouite place to visit - off the beaten track - beautiful and unspoilt beaches, great restaurants and lots to see...

What can you say when one is welcomed by live acorddion playing on top of trendy lounge music? This shows the attention to detail of Luis, Margarida and Teresa, when welcoming a group of 9 families whose passion is... wine & dine. Quinta do Chocalinho is perfectly located as it allows us to get the best of "two worlds", the...

Fabulous, the owners are spetacular, friendly the best I have ever meet. The rooms perfect and the breakfeast excellent. A very quiet place to go and stay for some days. We can walk, take a good swimming pool bath in summer end rest in front of a good fire in winter nights.

We stayed in four quintas during our trip through Portugal and I guess this one was the best. The welcome was very friendly and authentic. I said something about being tired and immediately got some coffee without asking for it - very nice. We really got the impression that the family who owns and runs this place will help us...

I have just got back from staying at this lovely countryside retreat. The plan was initially to stay three nights but I liked it so much that I ended up staying seven. What makes this place so special, in addition to the obvious charm and amenities (gorgeous grounds to walk in, great pool and indoor space to relax etc), is...

We stayed at Quinta do Chocalhinho in October 2012, having read all of the reviews. It lived up to the reviews and more. The room had all of the comfort we needed and particularly welcome was the fresh fruit and mineral water in the room on arrival. If you can't relax on the patio or by the pool here then...

We've been there for 3 nights, and loved it. It's an amazing place, the apartment had everything we could need in our stay. The breakfast was very good: great eggs, orange juice, homemade cake, fresh bread,... Very peaceful and lovely. Luis was a very nice host. We'll definitely return again, with some Sun now, to try the nice swiming pool...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Quinta do Chocalhinho is a centenary estate located near Odemira, with 10 double rooms and 5 suites T1+1, framed by a beautiful landscape and a very interesting culture.Luís Freitas is the name of the owner, the same as his grandfather’s, who left him these 70 hectares of land, with a very old house, now rebuilt with a drawing very close to the original one. Photographs and oil paintings show the resemblances, and the old pavement that surrounds the house, the schist walls and some “taipa” (lath and mud) walls, make us relive other times. After a happy childhood in this estate, and many years working in different parts of the world, Luís Freitas and his wife Margarida have decided to put all their dedication into this agro-tourism, with body and soul. The furniture has been carefully chosen during several years in the East, and tastefully combined with the rural and sober environment of the house. The rooms are very comfortable, with central heating, TV and private WC and the suites spacious, all with 1 double room, living room with fully equipped kitchenette, private WC, mezzanine bedroom with twin beds, and an exclusive patio by the pool. The breakfast is composed by regional products, and the biological kitchen-garden is loved by the smaller ones as well as by the grown-ups.The house is totally surrounded by olive trees and cork oaks, and a stroll will transport you to the true essence of the Alentejo, amongst old watering tanks, wild boar trails and a wonderful view over the estate. You may also enjoy the tennis court, the salted water swimming pool and a small playground for the youngest ones. Besides you’re only 2 kms away from Odemira, were you can find all the facilities you may need, and 20 minutes from the Vila Nova de Milfontes and its beaches. ... more   less
