The Premier Inn Truro Hotel comes highly recommended for its cleanliness, with numerous guests describing the rooms as spotless. However, opinions on service are divided, with experiences ranging from professional to disappointing. While the atmosphere is generally comfortable, some areas are flagged for needing updates. Amenities are deemed adequate, particularly the beds, though there are reports of minor issues.
The hotel's value is a point of contention, with some guests finding it reasonable and others not. Room conditions, including temperature and maintenance, have caused discomfort for several travelers. Nevertheless, the hotel's location earns praise for its proximity to local attractions.

Detailed Reviews
First time staying in a Premier Inn and not impressed. On arrival in the car park the hotel looked very tired, nothing like the online photos. Our check in was from 3pm. We arrived at 2:40 and asked if we could still check in? No, not unless you pay ÂŁ10!! We sat in the car until 3pm. Got in the room to find one hand towel and one bath towel between two of us for three nights and the toilet seat loose and nearly hanging off. Complained to reception who arranged another bath towel but said one hand towel between two is standard. Receptionist said she would tighten the seat while we were out. She did but it was loose again next day. The trim is also hanging off the front of the dressing table something that must just be ignored every day. They also provide clothes hangers but no rail to hang them on. So, you have to hang clean clothes on the coat hooks with your wet coats.

The hotel was the perfect location to spend some quality time with family in Cornwall. The good thing about a premier inn is you know what you’re getting, comfy beds and value for money. The one thing that was very evident at this hotel was a lack of staff, whether that is from staff not turning in for shift or having to close the Beefeater early and the tables not being cleaned all evening due to lack of staff. Receptionist was having to clean rooms due to staff not turning in which then put us off mentioning the leak from the back of the toilet and the soap dispensers not working.

We have stayed in a lot of Premier Inns, but this was not one of the better ones. They have cut out biscuits in the room, no herbal teas, or hot chocolate drinks. The bathroom was quite dire. No towel rail. The fan made a lot of noise, but was not very efficient. Result was after a shower the walls were running with condensation, which also made our toiletries wet. The toilet seat was wonky, as it was not the right size or shape to fit the bowl. Sitting in the armchair, you could see the stains on the framework of the bed. The pillows were worn out as were the pillowcases. The only way to shut the bedroom door was to slam it, so through the night, as smokers got up to go outside, we were woken by slamming doors. Cigarette ends welcomed you outside the entrance, as there was no where to put them. Breakfast had items missing, such as fruit salad and muffins. Staying at other Premier Inns, we realised that the Beefeater charges more for the same food, than either a Whitbread Inn or a Brewers fayre. It also has less choice on the menu, and smaller portions.

Hotel's Favourite
Carnon Downs has become my regular when I'm down in deepest, darkest Cornwall. Always a great welcome from the reception team. Clean rooms & convenient Beefeater restaurant opposite with a covered walkway. Nothing is too much trouble for staff here. Great PI.

We had booked two rooms from 18.07. on 19.07. We had already booked two rooms with connecting doors in advance. When we arrived at the hotel, one of the rooms was already prepared, for which we thank you very much. But then, later in the evening, it turned out that no one had opened the doors of the connecting rooms. The reception said that the key was with HSK and everyone had already gone home. I believe that such keys should be at the reception for the needs of guests, especially if it was requested. It should be noted that the cleanliness of the rooms needs a lot of work. Room number 33 had a very large cobweb on the window curtain and one of the bedside lamps was not working. Room number 35 also had the same bedside lamp problem and the toilet seat was loose. The edge of the table was taped with white tape and the extra piece that was hanging down wasn't even cut off. For the kind of money that had to be paid in July during the proms, unfortunately this hotel cannot offer a relevant service. If you really offered the same price for a room as in London in a four-star hotel with excellent cleanliness, then you should make sure that you offer such cleanliness and perfect order of everything in your hotel as well, so that the guests are not disappointed later. On the positive side, I can only say that the bed was comfortable and the shower was also good. Sincerely, Lolita

1.) You should have pre warned me the restaurant was closed, it had obviously been closed from the earlier hours in the day as the sign on reception mentioned only breakfast would be served today. Why could you have not let your guests know there was an issue and to expect to go out for dinner as there was no food on site? After a 4 hour car journey and a 3 hour meeting this was the last thing I wanted to hear when I arrived. A scrap piece of paper was given to me with a list of local eateries for me to go back out and find somewhere for dinner. The receptionist agreed to refund my meal deal and just leave breakfast on, she did not do this and I had to get this amended in the morning by a very helpful lady on reception, but I shouldn't have to ask twice.
2.) Ensure the bedding is clean, after coming back from dinner I wanted to relax and read, on sorting the pillows i noted one had a orange/red mark on it, I thought nothing of it and just turned it over, to find a brown brush mark on the other side. To then find the other pillow cover stained, the duvet stained and the bed sheet covered in various marks. It looked like it had been slept in and just remade - disgusting. I had enough by this point after dinnergate, however there was no one at reception! Fortunately your towels were clean so I used these to sleep on but needless to say it was a crap nights sleep.
3.) Breakfast...was cold, the mushrooms not cleaned as they still had remnants of soil on, the hot water ern was a cold water ern and the tables to sit at sticky to the point my napkin was stuck to the table; so that's where I left it along with my half eaten breakfast and mug of cold tea.
Overall the worst stay I have ever had at a premier inn or any hotel actually. I travel a lot for work and this place had nothing good going for it.
- the ladies at check out - very helpful and friendly.
I expect a response to my complaints.

Booked for one night for convenience to the royal general hospital for admission in the morning. Arrived wanted to freshen up and no water reported to receptionist who said would check . We went and had something to eat in the beefeater to come back and was told the water was off due to a main problem. I asked the receptionist if she could provide water to drink as thats all my elderly mother could drink was told to bring a kettle down and where was she going to get water from bearing in mind she could of gone across to beefeater and get bottle water . 4 hours without water . Eventually when it came on realise 1 bath towel between two of us when reported it to reception was told they had plenty of towels should of gone down to reception why should we when the room should of been prepared . The staff on arrival was rude not bothered probably tired like the building . The bath dispenser was on the side of the bath and the saver tap was rediculas a trickle if you can call it that .witness a member of the cleaning Staff park in disabled bay . I contact customer service team and the supervisor wouldn’t speak to me on the phone left it to the customer advisor to explain the matrix said I could only have a good will payment back from both room absolutely shocking customer service . Maybe there spending money of advert certainly not customer service .

I stay in Premier Inn's around the country very often for my work. Truro is in by far the best location and the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly except for a single miserable man who was on nights. The building is one of the best also with individual ductless air-con units. I would recommend Truro premier Inn to anyone who wants to visit the area but have a limited budget!

First time staying in a Premier Inn, all of the staff we met were incredibly welcoming, helpful and friendly; the room was very clean and warm, the beds (twin room) were extremely comfortable, and the hotel although apparently busy, was peaceful at night, with hardly any external noise heard in the room. We chose the continental breakfast option and again the staff in the adjoining Beefeater were welcoming and helpful, and the breakfast and drinks were very good. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone needing an easy, cost-effective place to stay, and would not hesitate to return in the future. Thank you to all of the staff for making our trip away such an enjoyable experience.

The reception staff were lovely and our room was very good. Clean and tidy and all in working order.
We had booked breakfast on both days we were there and had our elderly aunt and uncle join us for breakfast on the Saturday morning. The breakfasts was really awful. Cold sausages and mushrooms congealed baked beans the bacon was all stuck together. The toaster takes 4 minutes to toast bread.
The freshly ordered fried eggs arrived very promptly and the coffee machine made great coffee.
The service from arriving to leaving was substandard. I had to clear the dirty dishes off the table myself to be able to eat the next course.
We are forgiving souls and every service business can have a bad day.
On Sunday we went to breakfast with some apprehension. And if it was possible it was worse very much worse. More cold servings beans mushrooms tomato all cold. Fresh sausage but stuck together and cold bacon. The ordered fried eggs took forever to arrive and only arrived when we were almost finished with breakfast. When I complained the lady simply shrugged and walked away. I then pointed out when we were leaving that the food in the servers was cold and told that I am the only complaint they have had.
Other patrons shared our disappointment.
This is a good hotel that needs serious attention to the restaurant people and food. We will return but will not use the the Beefeater.

Sorry only just seen this message. I'm unsure (as drove) but did see alot of buses and another village close by had bus stops
There are frequent buses from outside the railway station to take you right into the city centre, for less than ÂŁ2.
