Porta del mar is a small family-run resort of 8 stone villas in rustic style and 5 newly built deluxe apartments. All villas/apartments are suitable for summer holidays with direct access to our infinity pool and to our private sandy beach. Amazing sea and pool views obtained from the gardens and inside the rooms! The villas are self-catering and accommodate from 2-6 persons (one or two bedroom villas). They all form a horse shoe design, facing towards the sea and are traditionally and nicely decorated. They have spacious living rooms, large bedrooms with queen-size beds or twin single beds, all with solid, wooden ceilings and air-condition. Fully equipped kitchens include cooker, big fridge/freezer, wooden table that seats 4-6 and a full range of utensils. The apartments are tastefully furnished and decorated in earthy tones, aiming at offering the ultimate comfort and luxury, ready to accommodate couples of any age or families of up to six people. They are situated next to the “Porta del Mar” beach villas with same panoramic sea views plus infinity and splash pools. All bedrooms are spacious and are equipped with extra-large King size double beds, 43’ Led TV sets plus en-suite bathrooms. All bathrooms (with shower room and bathtub) are equipped with bathrobes, flippers, bath amenities, ample closet space, iron, iron board, and hairdryers. Window glass-doors are leading to spectacular views over either the pools or the sea. The living rooms come with comfortable sofa bed, a 43’ Led TV, tea/coffee maker, safe and working desk, while the two bedroom one comes with proper kitchen with fridge, cooker and all the utensils. All rooms are air conditioned with cooling and heating function. The villas and the apartments are situated directly on our sandy, quiet beach and are surrounded by well kept and relaxing gardens. The beach is safe for children and the waters are clear, crystal and rather shallow. Everything you need is within short walking distance from the villa (groceries, bakery, taverns).

I booked this property based on the reviews and wasn't disappointed. Much has been written already, so I will try not to be repetitive. We stayed in the modern two-bedroom apartment and the pictures do not do it justice in terms of size. It is large, well-appointed and good value. The kitchen even had a juicer in the cupboard. The food was very good and the wine list had some excellent Greek varieties. The restaurant/wine is by no means the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. The only suggestion I have for Costas is to perhaps add a good quality local village wine to the list, that's representative of the island. Service is very good and all the staff are courteous, helpful and professional. Anna and her brother were particularly hard working and on the ball. I would definitely return when in Zante again. The location is remote, but all the better for it and the use provision of paddle boards and kayaks is a nice touch; the kids loved it. Hiring a car is probably recommended if you don't plan to stay at the resort all of the time.

Fourth time in this cool place. Why??? Well: the people here are wonderful, they welcome us every time with joy; the place is superb, on the seashore, with typical Greek architectural constructions, having all the comfort, with generous and cool green space, with a beach perfectly protected from the abundance of noisy tourists but at the same time characterized by fine sand and clear water; all guests are well-behaved, always careful not to spoil the comfort of others, whether they have small children or are just fun-loving couples; the food is tasty, authentic, fresh and not boring and the selection of Greek wines is amazing, carefully chosen by the passionate son of our host, Costas (full-fledged sommelier, WSET level 3) and carefully kept in a well-built cellar, being perhaps the main reason why we don't really like to dine elsewhere. If it suits you, you like it and you want it here, call Thassos directly

Really a lovely place. Every morning breakfast with a most fantastic view. In the evening same view but with totally different colours becaus of the sunset. But what really makes the difference are the people who are running this place. They make you feel special and will do anything to give you wonderful memories.

This is a lovely family run hotel. Very good and friendly service. Food in general very good. Room was lovely, told we had bottled water in the room but only for day one! So easily could have been 5 stars. Our room was the only one that did not include breakfast. Which was odd. Also if you had a coffee from behind the bar at breakfast it was an extra €3s. Neither of these were we told about. Unfortunately meal times were ruined by en invasion of wasps and not a lot was done about it.

Happy to get abroad, we found this hotel and weren't disappointed. A family run establishment where everyone seems to be involved and it has a mixture of hotel rooms and appartments. We had the latter for four and it was no more than twenty yards from the pool and close to the beach. The food was first class and the service excellent. Whilst it might seem a little remote, for us oldies it was great. Will come again.

Four of us visited Porta del Mar in mid September. It is a gorgeous place. We took room 10 which is a brand new two bedroom apartment. It was very spacious, beautifully decorated with no expense spared. There were two balconies overlooking the pool. Lots of areas with loungers leading down steps to the small Sandy beach. Food was very good indeed. We ate in several other places and Porta del Mar beat them all hands down. The menu was fantastic with interesting daily specials. The outside tables overlooked the sea, under trees and umbrellas…..very pretty setting. Staff were really really good, Costas, Anna, Irini many thanks. We had most to do with you, but all the other members of the extended family were fab, helpful efficient and friendly. We have just booked to go back there next June.

This place is a hidden gem - stunning authentic accommodation with amazing views & lovely staff. It’s tucked away and a place to just relax & enjoy the great food & views. Just a short drive from a resort if you want more restaurants but you don’t want to leave the place that often
