A very professional set up is this place. We stayed in the carriage which has an ensuite and was comfortable enough. We couldn't get the package as we booked fairly late. I would suggest it would be great value if you can get it. We had a good dinner on the Friday (reasonably priced ) and afterwards sat around a...

We camped with power in a lovely bush setting. Wi Fi was available at a cost but telstra worked and we were able to use the phone and our wi fi. We went on the guided tour of the lava tubes and it was very good. It was 2 hours and the guide was very informative and it went quickly...

We didn't choose to take the lava tube tour but did hike several nice trails here and took the Wildlife at Sunset tour. Our guide was very congenial but there wasn't really much to this tour. As we drove out to see the bats that were the "highlight" we saw lots of wallaby, roos, and wallaroos which Ian discussed and...

We recently stayed in one of the railway carriages for one night as part of the self-drive package which included 2 lunches, sunset tour, dinner, accommodation, breakfast & the Archway Explorer Tour. Excellent value for money! All the staff were friendly, our guide for the tours was very knowledgeable, food in the restaurant was delicious with large servings. We had...

We have recently visited Undara Volcanic Tubes and had a really wonderful experience. Spent two nights camped there. Our guide was informative and funny, interacting with the tour group. Some great walks of varying fitness levels and a walk around a crater. The tour in the lava tubes was very interesting.

Had booked for only 1 night in a powered site at the park but stayed an extra night as there was too much to see and do in the complex. Amenities were individually contained ensuites and well maintained. Washing machines were only $2 per load, the cheapest I have ever come across. Dinner menu is not extensive but tasty and...

The converted rail carriage was very comfortable and secure. The restuarant served good food and a range of beverages. The bush breakfast was a highlight and would be a fantastic experience for those travellers who weren't into camping. Toasting your own bread and Billy tea went down well with the eggs and sausages. A local blue wing kookaburra added entertainment...

Take no notice of the 2012 reviews, this is a really lovely place to stay. They have kept the area as close to natural as possible, so you really have a sense of being in the outback, yet there are ensuite style amenities, and a huge resort style bar and restaurant, open to the surroundings, just a few minutes walk...

This place is well worth the money. We also stayed there in the newly renovated train carriages and it was lovely. Comfy beds, new private bathroom and no t.v which was a welcome change. We went on two tours the Archway Explorer and the Sunset Tour. Both were spectacular. I HIGHLY recommend the sunset tour. When its right on dusk...

Visited the lava tubes and enjoyed the experience. We took the "Active Tour" and found accessing the tubes challenging but once inside the tubes the challenge was well rewarded. I found our guide very informative and friendly. We stayed overnight in a refurbished rail carriage which was different and added to the experience. The restaurant food was not expensive and...

UNDARA EXPERIENCE – AUSTRALIA’S ACCESSIBLE OUTBACK! Only 3½ hours drive from Cairns and four hours from Townsville in Tropical North Queensland Australia, Undara can be easily accessed via the Savannah Way by conventional vehicle and is situated right on the edge of the Undara Volcanic National Park. The Undara Lava Tubes are a world class natural geological phenomenon. Huge tubes formed approximately 190,000 years ago; molten lava drained out under a thick cooler crust, leaving a series of long, hollow tubes. Today, Undara’s highly trained Savannah Guides conduct small group tours from the natural Bush Resort, into the lava tubes where visitors marvel at this incredible geological wonder.
