We booked a two night golf break in August. On arrival at the hotel we were surprised to find the revolving doors to enter the hotel were extremely dirty, covered in finger prints, given we were in Covid times. The outside of the hotel was covered in cigarette butts. In reception there were trolleys with dirty washing and plates. Our rooms had not been cleaned and were of a poor standard. When we reported this they didn't seem bothered and did nothing about it. The food in restaurant was very poor and service very slow. At breakfast there was not social distancing and no acceptable table cleaning was taking place between guests. Trolleys piled high with dirty plates were along one whole side of the restaurant. We made the decision it was not safe to stay any longer so after our golf that day we checked out a night early . The reception staff did not seem at all surprised, and made no attempt to apologise for the appalling standard of cleanliness of the hotel and rooms. They were displaying the Stay Safe certificate to say they were Covid compliant, this clearly isn't the case. As we left the reception was full of customers complaining about the state of the hotel. No manager would speak to anyone. I have been telephoning and emailing the hotel, head office and customer services of Britannia hotels/Meon Valley since 15th August and still have had no response. They should not be on booking sites and I would strongly advise anyone NOT to book any Britannia Hotel. They should be shut down!

The staff here were really nice and helped me to check in early. I was staying for a wedding up the road so returned fairly late. I was shocked to find the previous guests baby bottle. But when I went to bed and laid the pillow down I was met but dirt and grime. As it was late I went to bed anyway. When I checked out I told the staff who weren’t bothered and I barely got an apology. I emailed head office who on two occasions told me this was acceptable. Really disappointed. I wouldn’t stay here again and would advise anyone who does checks the room.

The heating failed in the rooms. We had to sleep in our clothes and even then we were cold. Some guests checked out to find other accommodation. No offer of temporary heaters, no apology. Look under the bed to see when it was last moved for a carpet clean. Anniversary night away ruined. Keep people informed of what's going on and what you're doing to rectify the situation and you might get some good will, sadly I can't offer that.

Extraordinary. Reilly is polite, kind always ready to help, the premises are extremely clean, the atmosphere is lovely, and the food is both delicious and beautifully presented. Thank you Reilly for good service 😊😊.

So we stayed at this hotel prior to going on a cruise out of Southampton. We went to reception and checked in and was allocated room 0302 we dropped our bags and went to the bar to have a start of holiday celebration drink and a bite to eat we came back to our room about 5 pm and noticed that it was freezing and no heating was on. I rang reception 3 times but no answer so I decided to pop down and see them I explained to the lady at reception our room was very cold and no heating was on, I was told that it’s on a timer and due to com on at. 5:30 pm I did think this was strange as today was one of the coldest of the year but went back to tell the wife that it would be on at 5:30. We gave it to 6:30 before I rang reception again this time 4 unanswered calls. I didn’t have to get changed to go down to reception as I was sat in my coat in my room lol. I went to explain the heating still had not come on. As I was explaining to the lady at reception another four separate guests came to say the same. It was clear there was a problem with the heating at one side of the hotel I asked if we could change rooms to be told they where fully booked. I asked if I could speak to the manager to be told there was no duty manager until 23:00 hrs. I asked if we could have a heater or blankets to which they said if they could find them they would bring them up. They obviously couldn’t as we didn’t get one. I also asked if they could let us know if they got a cancellation so we could be moved but it appears that didn’t happen too. We had no sleep at all in a freezing room !! And no help from staff I would avoid at all costs
