Our group of 8 booked 4 rooms for one night in Gamboa to enjoy this very special little town and to be near the Smithsonian dock for an early morning boat trip to Barro Colorado. As we drove up to the B&B, the owner, Ivan, greeted us with a harsh admonition, "You can't park here. This is reserved for family."...

Our party of 8 rented the whole of Ivan's building. There are 4 bedrooms, 3 of which have double beds and one has twin beds. Unfortunately, the twin bedroom's air conditioning didn't work. The two people who were supposed to stay in that room couldn't tolerate the lack of a/c and moved to the Gamboa Rainforest Resort. Ivan wasn't apologetic...

I stayed at Ivan's in 2013 and was so taken with the hospitality that this was my first choice for a return trip. Thankfully, nothing has changed. Ivan is still the informative, sociable fella that he was the first go-round, Gladys still cooks a lovely, simple dinner, rooms are simple but clean and well air-conditioned and the location is unmatched...if...

I had just one night to spend in Gamboa, a true last-minute trip after working the week in the city. I called Ivan using Skype on a Thursday evening and he advised me how to get to Gamboa using public buses. I arrived at 8:00 PM and was warmly greeted. Ivan quickly got me into my room and oriented to...

I stayed there two nights to walk the local trails and the Pipeline trail. The rooms are small but comfortable with private bath and air conditioning that works well. Wi-fi is fair but Ivan told me it only works well in the first room, so ask for that if important to you. Price seems a bit high and the meals...

We recently stayed at Ivan's for three nights and couldn't have enjoyed it more. Yes, the rooms are small, but you have a comfy bed, a ceiling fan, AC and a hot shower, plus a terrific little patio just outside the room to sit and relax. However what makes Ivan's special is Ivan himself! A knowledgeable and interesting man and...

3 of us stayed at Ivans in January on a birding excursion. Ivans is basic, clean accomodations, warm shower, soft beds, air conditioning, just what you need after a long day of hiking/birding. Wifi was weak signal but did work. Don't expect the hilton, but do expect comfort and security with some local flavor. The highlight of Ivans is Ivan...

My stay at Ivan's was superb. He welcomed me, a solo traveler, with open arms, and did everything to make my stay perfect. He is knowledgeable, chatty, and full of tips of the amazing forests surrounding Gamboa. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable, the airco worked perfectly, the fan gave a fresh breeze, the shower is lovely and...

My husband and I stayed at Ivan's 3/38-3/30/2014. Our room was basic, but clean, air conditioning worked fine, and the shower was hot with good water pressure. Ivan is a wonderful host, highly knowledgeable about all things Panama and especially birds. The food was wonderful and it was very enjoyable to have meals with others who were staying there. This...

Ivan and Gladys are great birders who make u welcome! Their B&B is rustic but very clean! Dinner was ok but not worth the price but considering other options not bad! The double bed is small but the shower and air con made up for it!! Ivan is knowledgeable about birds and the easy access to pipeline road is wonderful!!!...
