This is in a wonderful position, with stunning views to the west from the terrace outside the main building, and also, but to a lesser extent, to the east. Evening meals were good but half-board is overpriced and with little choice in the evening. Breakfast could have been much better. The locally-produced Il Poggio wine is lovely. The area round...

Spent 2 weeks on an RCI exchange late Feb-early March 2017. Location is driving distance to many hill towns, Florence, Siena, Rome, and all of what Tuscany is noted for. RCI rates this as a Gold Crown Resort, Why? I have no idea. 1 bedroom, 1 bath units are really basic, A hard split mattress, uncomfortable, older furniture in living...

November is slow season and the farm and nearby village were both very empty and quiet. Nearby Radicofani was an easy day trip. Siena is a long drive but possible to visit as a day trip. Also, Orvieto was a reasonable drive for day trip. Just walking around the grounds and village was enjoyable. Breakfast and dinner on meal plan...

As the name suggest.. IL POGGIO, the Summit, The roads are winding, steep without light, so extra care has to be taken driving to the resort. The units, pleasant and welcoming, so are the people that run the place. The rural greenery easy on the eyes. Their winery cellar with their selection of local cured meats and cheeses... a delight!

This was our first timeshare spot and we were very pleased. The spot is beautiful, the half board was worth every penny, the staff were friendly as were the people in the village. My only complaint was that between four and seven each day our room was quite chilly. I guess this was the same with everyone, so just know...

This is a rustic resort about an hour’s drive (yes, you need a car) from more popular areas: Orvieto, Cortona, Pienza, Montepulciano, etc. While the accommodations are simple, it really offers a slice of Tuscan life. The staff are very friendly and try to accommodate as much as possible. The food is good: soups, vegetable tart, and Tiramisu were excellent,...

Beautiful place and the sunsets were breathtaking! The apartment was well furnished, but the beds were very hard. The walls are very thin so we could hear everything next door so beware if you are on your honeymoon! The meals were adequate, but we ended up eating elsewhere for many of the dinners since we wanted to taste Italy. I...

Family run farm. Produced their own wines, cheeses and hams. Very basic but adequate breakfasts. A battle to get them to cook eggs which were an extra charge at breakfast. Rustic style rooms very clean with daily towel change. Food in the evenings was good and well presented, but could be improved with a few more vegetables.

Rustic elegance on top of a Tuscan hill with views that span 30 miles and sunsets that we will never forget. We enjoyed the off-the-beaten-track location and active farm setting which allowed us to make day-trips to many gorgeous hilltop towns, including Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, Orvieto, Siena, and San Casciano dei Bagni. We also made a trip to Florence which...

My several attempts to modify our reservation months in advance fell disattended or, worse, ignored by the personnel. Apart this inconvenience the site is amazing, located on top of a hill with a breathtaking view.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On a hill near the medieval town of Celle sul Rigo, between Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana, stands the Il Poggio Holiday Farm. The Farmhouse, the central building of the farm, offers a peerless view that spreads over Valle del Rigo, the Radicofani stronghold, Monte Amiata, Monte Cetona, up to Valle dell’Elvella which is bordered in perspective from the town of San Casciano dei Bagni. The Il Poggio buds from the join of two family farms grown up in the spirit of tradition. In 1987 it starts to be in business by doing the first refurbishments of the rural buildings. ... more   less
