The pictures you see online are not what you get. I was horrified when I went entered the property. Paint was peeling, dirt was heaped in the corners, and although the owner said there was air conditioning in the living room and bedroom, I sure didn't see them. I also requested ocean front property, but we never aw the ocean there. We stayed just long enough to make accommodations at another hotel. The owner said this was a 3-star accommodation. NO WAY! It's no wonder she required full payment 2 weeks ahead of time. She refused to refund any money at all even though we didn't stay there. I trusted VRBO before to screen their accommodations, but never again!
This place is a dirty dump in a slum area. I don't know where the pictures online came from, but they weren't from this place! Paint was peeling, dirt was thick in the corners of every room. We stayed 30 minutes--just long enough to book the Marriott. The owner claims there were window a/c units--one in the living room and one in the bedroom, but apparently, I need my glasses changed. I sure didn't see them! But even if I had, if I had known this was what was offered, I never would have booked. I couldn't leave fast enough. It was so hot in the unit that I was wet with sweat within 5 minutes! This was in January! Can you imagine what it would be in July and August? Run, don't walk, away from this place! That's what we did!
Conceptually hotel has great value and abilities to give traveler that many hotels on island don’t have. Private pool, kitchen and separation from others. Close approximation to couple beaches, It would be mind blowing if units would be maintain and had updates to have higher level of furnishings. We had unit that they use as photo model but those photos were done 20 year ago. It need modifications and some renovation
The villa we stayed in was pretty nice overall. The owner of the unit was very nice and helpful, however, the management at the site apparently does not know how to run a hotel. Our pool turned dark green. This is algae. There is mainly only one way for that to happen. The filtration system either does not work properly or is only turned on for a very, very limited amount of time. Either way, we lost at least two full days of using the pool at a place called; Pools and Pavilions. My younger son got a pretty bad rash on his body from the pool and had to take Benadryl and cortisone cream and is still on it. The grounds of the hotel need massive work and the place needs a major facelift. The place is a throwback to the 60's and never updated. Also, it should be noted, the island is like a 3rd world country. We used to travel to St. Thomas a lot back in the late 90's and it was wonderful. I don't know what happened to this island but good luck if you travel there. The price of gas, food, t-shirts, ice cream, etc. is totally out of bounds. If you think that the price of things here in the states are bad; and they have gotten bad over the past 6 months, its nothing like St. Thomas. We went out for ice cream one night and got four cones and it came to $34!!!!! I never saw a simple hamburger for less than $14 and if you want a cocktail, take out a home equity loan. When travelling home, the airlines at the St. Thomas airport said that my airline ticket was not in their system and I had no seat. That took over an hour to fix. The couple next to us in line was from South Dakota and they told us they flew in on Wednesday and left on that Thursday. Less than 24 hours. They said that they never saw such a bad island like St. Thomas. They also thought that it was like a 3rd world country. All I have to say is; Good luck if your traveling there. You will need it and bring TONS of cash or credit cards, you will need it.…
I booked a unit at Pavilion and Pools for 5 days through Airbnb. The unit where we were supposed to stay got " water damage", therefore, we got offered another unit and were told that the units are the same. Nothing even close. On a third day of staying there I was pretty much done. The unit that we stayed in didn't have simple kitchen supplies (only one small pot and pan), holes in a walls, ants, old disgusting furniture and damp smelling bedding, small barely working air condition unit and water damage on a walls from pool which looked like didn't get any maintenance attention for a while. When I mentioned situation about the pool to service desk they told me that they will contact pool service but nobody came. The washer and dryer didn't work in laundry room so we couldn't do our laundry. The pictures on Pavilion and pools are misleading. I wouldn't never stay again in that place and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.…
Rented a villa on Airbnb stayed a month. The island was still rebuilding from the restaurant. Great location you can walk to the beach and bars. The restaurant wasn't open yet when i was there but it looked awesome.
This was our second visit to P & P...quite a few years and a couple of hurricanes between. The last time we stayed on the side away from the main road but this time we were close to the road. Here's my overall goods and bads. It's a long walk from the parking lot to the units on the far end...is what it is :). Access to the lower exit to walk to Sapphire Beach was excellent, also made loading our rental car on our last day a lot easier :) The unit, like most of them, is showing it's age a bit but all in all it's still pretty great. Having your own pool right outside the bedroom was great, water was clean and clear...but also colder than we expected but hey, it was the first week of December. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was great other than too few electrical outlets. Closet and chests for storing clothes was good, Kitchen was good overall but did lack a lot in utensils and such...poorly equipped but it worked OK for us with a few purchases at the grocery, the living room area was good with the exception that the furniture was extremely uncomfortable and way outdated...as in the 60's. The couch was about to come apart (see pics) and the one chair was like a brick, TV was great, breakfast/dinning table was fine even though the chairs were a bit different. Overall, the interior was great except for the living room seating area. The overall condition was good...not great mind you but good. There was evidence of some wood deterioration around the windows...LOTS of glass by the way. Pool area was great, lounge furniture was fine, towels and such were also good. My one real disappointment was the "privacy". Our first visit gave us an extremely private outside pool area so that you could pretty much go about as you wanted. This unit was open to the tree side at ground level and on more than one occasion the maintenance guy just walked right up...plus men working on the wall or even trucks driving by had a pretty full view of the pool area...so no going about "au natural" unless you want an audience. The lack of privacy to us was a bit of a big deal with no real way to fix it. The overall facility is still being rebuilt in places following the 2017 storms...which we were aware of when we booked...no on-site restaurant or bar type thing but hey, the grocery sells all kinds of good food and good liquor so not major. I love the place and the concept...just wish we'd have the level of privacy that we had on our first visit. I do recommend P & P but would suggest that if you want any outside privacy that you should stay away from the row of units on the front side. All that said...it's a great place to fall in love or rekindle your love...but then that's what USVI is to me anyway!…
The staff and place is perfect. We stayed for three weeks in unit 118 couldn't have been better, was comfortable, well maintained, with our own pool. The location is nice with two beaches in walking distance and caravan trucks to take you around the island or just to Red Hook for access to ferries or harbour.
We rented #117. These units are individually owned, so I can only speak for our unit. We loved it. It was clean and very nice, a great value for the money, although not at all fancy. The best asset of this property is the private pool with each unit! It was so nice to literally walk out our back door and step into our very own pool. We rented a car, which I highly recommend. Moe’s Market is nearby, so we had ready access to supplies. We grilled steaks and veggies one night on the deck by the pool; it was so nice. You will be entertained by the wild free roaming chickens and their crowing rooster. Our girls really enjoyed feeding them off our back deck. There are two TVs with a good channel selection. The partially outdoor bathroom has a large garden shower. We loved the tropical plants. The kitchen has basic utensils with a microwave, full size refrigerator, toaster, regular cooktop and oven and a coffee maker. There are plenty of towels, but we did use the coin operated washer and dryer on the property during our 5 night stay, since there is no housekeeping service. I’m not sure if we could have requested housekeeping for an additional fee, because we did not inquire. The location is great, with Sapphire and Secret Harbor beaches nearby. It is about a 25 minute drive to the airport and to Magens Bay. The restaurant that was apparently located on the property is closed, so you must leave the property for restaurants and bars. I highly recommend this villa for a relaxing, comfortable, safe vacation spot. St Thomas is so beautiful and so much fun. The damage from the 2017 hurricane is still evident, but they are coming back strong. There is certainly plenty to see and enjoy in spite of the damage.…
This was our second time visiting St. Thomas. We renting our car at the airport and this location was very easy to find. Each unit has its own private pool with large solid fencing for complete privacy. This made for spectacular Sunbathing! There was a security guard on duty by the lobby making the place feel very safe! No ocean view but short trip to many beautiful beaches all around the island ! We actually were there June 2017 before the hurricane, it was So Beautiful !
