Nice apartment with spacious rooms, airco and fridge.
Spiaggia di Tuerredda, probably Sardinia's best beach, is only a 15 km drive.
They have an impressive pool which is quite big.
You need a car as there is nothing withing walking distance. Just down the road there is a beautiful beach.
If we pass through this area we will definitely stay here again
1. the staff/management is completely apathetic - forget any particular attention/customer service, as soon as we arrived when asking information on the area the person at the reception started immediately to talk badly about the area and Sardinian people (he is not from Sardinia) being extremely dismissive of local traditions and cultural events - it was extremely inappropriate.
2. we were allocated the room for people with disabilities, with no mention of it when we checked in or earlier when we did the booking that that was the only option. The bathroom was terrible and (unless you have special needs) extremely uncomfortable, with an old shower that had a plastic rail and old curtain (all grey at the bottom). the room in itself was big but the exact opposite of cosy: nothing on the walls, one of the walls was ruined and had a long line painted over in a slightly different color (maybe because of humidity), of three lights in the bathroom only one was working, there was no suitcase stand, towels were old and some threadbare. The room was quite stuffy but impossible to keep the window door open as there are no mosquito nets, so the only option is to have the very noisy AC on for a while.
3. the swimming pool was not cleaned very well, in particular in the area with the water massaging jets where there seemed to be a vast collection of dead insects in the sitting area/steps of pool. The lounge chairs are old, extremely uncomfortable and there are no cushions that you can borrow to put over them in order to be comfortable. some of them are broken.
4. worst of all was the breakfast - I felt that for the price we were charged it was shocking to have such a poor breakfast composed by the usual array of small hero jams and nutella (that you usually find in cheap hotel, in the small plastic containers), pastries and bread that were obviously frozen and then warmed up with the microwave and turned out to be extremely chewy, no fruits, the usual thin slices of cheese and ham that again you would expect to find in a much cheaper hotel. This place is in Sardinia, an Italian region with an amazing array of cakes, breads, cheeses etc and a fantastic culinary tradition. Whenever we stayed in other places in Sardinia we were always presented with fresh fruits, breads, different types of cheese and cold meats, fresh cakes or traditional biscuits etc. these are not expensive things to offer to guests (you only need to go to any bakery to realize how cheap things are) and it really felt as they were doing everything they could to cut the costs.
5. we booked this place (and not a fancy resort by the beach or a flat in one of the villages) because we wanted to relax and it promised to be quiet. However, one evening we had to go out and ask people who were outside the restaurant to stop making so much noise (there was no concern from the staff of the restaurant of the fact that people were singing/screaming well past midnight). Our last evening, it turned out to be a Karaoke evening...and we were never told!!! so after 12:30 we went to talk to the restaurant manager and asked him to turn down the music, then we had to call twice after 1pm before they eventually reduced the volume to a level where you could at least try and sleep (with some background music of course). I have to say that we would have never chosen this place if we had known that 'animation' or any type of such activities would be 'on the menu' - we try and avoid it as much as possible.
Anything good? the lady who was doing the cleaning was extremely nice and helpful.
I found it to be characterless / souless to a large degree and struggled to see where it hoped to strike in the Sardinian hotel market.
To be fair The rooms are 'nice' but not exceptional, and compact, the fact you have your own 'mini garden' is a nice touch.
However the rooms and facilities are way off making this anywhere near a luxury resort but it would appear that the owners may have the impression it is, and appear more interested in the expensive restaurant.
Breakfast was 'ok' but tinned fruit and an 'allocated' croissant per person on a 'allocated table' at breakfast summed a lot about this 'resort' up for me Im afraid - Simple things like only teaspoons put out at breakfast and watching people trying to eat cornflakes with a teaspoon, having to ask for a bowl or glass for fruit juice because no one had bothered to notice there were none out summed up to me that this resort is trying to portray its something its not
I found the reception / 'welcome' at reception very unenthusiastic and 'unwelcoming' and to be honest the food and drinks way over priced.
This is the only hotel Ive stayed at in Italy where they ask for full payment on ARRIVAL !!
In terms of value for money I would put this 'resort' near the bottom of anywhere Ive stayed in Sardinia Im afraid - Dont get me wrong its not hideous but offers little for the tariff in my opinion comapred to other places I have stayed on visits to Sardinia
Travellers should bear in mind, and the hotel cant help this is that, if approaching from the Caglari/Pula direction there are over 100 ! bends of a mountainous road to negotiate (including 40+ sharp/hairpin bends) in the few miles into Teulada - This makes travelling to & fro the hotel to beaches etc very teduious and if you are not going to utilise the expensive restaraunt you face the mountain rollercoaster each evening too !
The service is very friendly and we were uprated to a family room.
Unfortunately the air conditioning and the fridge were out of order.
We spent time in the swimming pool and we have to say that it was dirty.
Furthermore, there must be a wasp nest nearly as they were a lot flying around the swimming pool and having a bath in it!
Ultimately, I won't recommend this place until it is not renowned.
staff is very helpful, rooms are quite large, extremely clean and efficient bathroom. garden is fine.
cuisine was of acceptable level but breakfast was relatively poor.
- dune di is arenas biancas
- tuaredda
- baia chia
- porto zafferano
- etc...
The rooms are extremly clean and the staff very friendly and available to answer all your requests. The structure is simple (it's a 3 stars) but nothing is missing: space in the room, garden, swimming pool (even with jacuzi area), good food, etc.
The resort is also close to Porto Teulada where you can enjoy daily boat excursions (very very nice) of the beaches only reachable via sea.
There is no entertainment during the evening, but the view of the stars is amaizing and there are some villages close by for a walk (Porto Pino on Thuesday, Pula in the weekend, Sant'Antioco).
The car is a must. Enjoy your holidays!
