stayed there 4 nights in one of the apartments in a bungalow. we ate all dinners and breakfast there and one lunch. place has a lot of charm with old furniture nice garden etc. Our apartment had a bedroom, bathroom, inside a sitting area where we put the table and I used to work (decent wifi). large outdoor terrasse with a mini kitchen we used to read and for sitting, drinks etc. spectacular view of the ocean in the distance Pool is nice but not huge with plenty of shade loungers etc... The restaurant is operated by the daughter of the hotel owner. Food is good and service adequate. very nice people. Breakfast was good lots of fruits, croissants, etc... OÙne can drive to many places around this side of the island. we are putting this hotel on the shortlist of 6 to 8 places worldwide where we will return for good rest plain good comfort and good service…
I enjoyed to see the Ilet Saint Aubin. It was surrounded by the ocean. The Ilet of Saint Aubin was the attraction. The ocean surrounded it and behind it there were mountains. It was so beautiful! I stood there enjoying the view. Wow!
Unfortunately, we managed only to stay one night at this fantastically relaxing and peaceful place at Martinique’s east coast, but it was well worth the trip there and the money spent! Nothing short of a paradise-like place, with spectacular views, no sounds except for humming from birds and other tropical animals, ocean sounds and an occasional meow from the house cats :) The place is maintained very well in original style as a great mansion from beginning of last century, and gives you a feeling of how life was at the time, in a luxurious way. Service, incl. breakfast, was impeccable. Laura was an excellent and flexible host. We booked a terrasse chamber in the main house, which was spacious and comfortable. Absolutely recommended!
My husband & I stayed here for 2 weeks. Big mistake. We were put in a 3 person self catering apartment, away from the plantation house which was delightful. The apartment was not cleaned throughout our stay, although they very thoughtfully provided a dustpan & brush! We had not understood that it was self catering & the cooking items were minimal. 3 pans, 3 mugs, glasses, 3 knives 3forks etc. 2 electric rings to cook on. No hot water, indeed no hot tap, sink rusty & grubby & leaked into the cupboard containing plates etc. No kettle. The fridge was rusty, no ice cube tray. A patio table & 3 chairs was provided; no cushions to sit on. The sitting room again had wooden patio chairs, no cushions. No table. Very sparse. It also had a single bed & a wardrobe in it. No TV, no radio. No rugs or carpets. The bathroom old, rusty, dirty, hot water at a premium. Bedroom sparse, just a bed & 2 bed side tables. Throughout our stay the bedding & towels went unchanged. We certainly would not stay here again. It was a lot of money & very poor value. It also was a long way from the lovely sandy beaches in the south. There is no beach here. No restaurants open in the evening in this area apart from in the plantation house, which was very expensive. Lovely island, delightful people but stay south for a real atmosphere & things to do.…
We booked a 2-chamber appartment. The view on the Atlantic ocean and the manor house is great. The appartment had a veranda with an outside kitchenette. There is one pan to cook and to boil water for tea. We did not try the other pan (to fry eggs or so). It looked terrible. The dishes were not realy clean, the kitchenette could have a scrub as well. In the appartment and on the veranda You have wooden chairs, but without pillows (seats need it). The bathroom was dusty and maintainance and cleaning poor. The bed was nice, but should have had a moskito-net. The appartment is very sober decorated. All in all you expect far much better from the pictures. Price and value are out of balance and negative.
We stayed 4 nights at the St-Aubin this summer. Our stay at this residence was a wonderful highlight of our vacation in Martinique. More than a hotel, it is the perfect retreat away from the noise and bustling touristic activities out there. The property has a fabulous panoramic view over the bay and lush vegetation of the north of the island. We had a great time just relaxing by the pool, sipping delicious cocktails or enjoying dinner at the bar-restaurant. As a family traveling with a 12 year old boy, we were all delighted by all the aspects of our stay at Saint-Aubin. Can't wait to go back!! Jacqui
We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. After reading the comments, I was a bit curious about this hotel. First, the manager, he has been nice to us, arranging to find a place to eat on our first day (because of the low season, it was not easy), and welcoming. About the hotel, the location is very good, the domain is very beautiful and the view is amazing. The pool is perfect as well. About the room, I think that it could be better. I guess that the idea is to stay in a colonial mood, but some furnitures like the carpet are quite modern. The breakfast on the first day was good, nothing to complain. It's just too bad that we can't order a breakfast every morning. A very good value for the price that we paid!
My husband and I travel eight +/- weeks a year. We stay in all types of accommodations from tents and very basic residences to luxury hotels. We have found that the attitude, hospitality and location make our visits memorable and almost always pleasurable. Our review of Le Domaine Sainte Aubin is meant to be constructive. The positive- it is beautifully located with our villa overlooking a vista of fields and in the distance, the ocean. The bed comfortable and the terrace a lovely place to relax. That being said, there is so much that could be improved, beginning with the accommodations. A coffee pot would be nice. We can’t remember ever staying where morning coffee in our room was not an option. We were not interested in spending 30 euros for the two of us on a continental breakfast. The most interesting and less than attractive aspect of our stay was that the owners appear to be operating a business with out a passion for making guests feel welcomed. One would expect that the newly constructed “bar” would have an overhang and stools for guests and offer the opportunity for a drink and conversation with the people running the hotel. Although Laurent and his wife and daughter were accommodating in responding to our requests (wine glasses, an adapter and a replacement light bulb), they appeared to have little interest in seeing that we learned what the area had to offer. Laurent is all business. I don’t believe, (admittedly, in the limited occasions we interacted with him), did he smile. His wife asked us to please let her know what she could help us with, but the general sense is that they are not geared to the hospitality industry. For example, the directions to their place, in CAPS, suggests that they are frustrated and maybe annoyed at people having some difficulty finding the place. The entry way is less than welcoming, the buildings need attention and the furnishings tired and cushions moldy. Interestingly, the notes regarding the property we received upon checking in, asked that “damp towels not be left on the furniture as they would be stained in an indelible way”. Frankly, we did not see how the upholstery could be any further damaged than in the condition we found them. Additionally, the WIFI was non-existent in our room and did not work for my husband in the outside main reception area (noted by owners as being reliable) on the one evening he attempted to use. Kindly, however, the next morning Laurent offered to hook us up to his personal internet directly with USB. Not necessary as the WiFi did function that am in the designated area. (As we are not big breakfast eaters he allowed us to purchase Nespresso alacarte- expensive at 5.15 euros per cup). In this day and age most travelers rely on having a good connection to WIFI. Fortunately, our business allows us to work when traveling but requires working WIFI. Overall, We believe the owners are trying hard to make their venture successful. Unfortunately, without some improvements in the accommodations and a more genial host we do not see this venue attracting repeat and or new business. The above is meant to be helpful. We wish you the best! …
We stayed 5 days over new year eve in the domaine saint Aubin. We liked the beautiful main house with the surrounded guest houses. Our room was in a cottage near the main house, we liked the size, the Terrasse and the view. Some things could be improved: - as we are in the north of Martinique where not so many restaurants are open on bank holidays we would appreciate more proactive support for making reservations elsewhere because restaurant in the hotel was closed on 1.1.18 - in general more proactive communication with regard on the activities here nearby, some tips and recommendations for restaurants. The printed paper in the reception area from 2015 might not be up to date and looked very unprofessional. - the breakfast could be improved as I think more self service for example with some fresh fruits is better than throwing the served bowl of fruit from a can in the garbage, because nobody ate it. The same for the bread, for some people it is too much and for some too less. - People who expect a perfect equipped room with shiny new furniture would be disappointed, for us it was ok as we know that in humid climate it is hard to reach that. Nevertheless, in some cases I would appreciate more care for chairs and the using of suitable pillows with water repellent properties for outside. - more flexibility with regard on lunch or dinner, you have a pool, provide some little snacks for example chips or nuts, cocktails and drinks. I guess many people expected that. All in one we can recommend the hotel, we had a nice stay. …
This hotel is filthy. Toad droppings across all the tables on the veranda. A dead toad in one of the bathrooms. Dirty sheets, dust everywhere. It's disgusting. The one member of staff I encountered was the female owner. When I complained about the squalor, she explained it away by saying 'This is the Caribbean'. Given that I have stayed in many Caribbean hotels and never experienced anything similar, this was nonsense. The wi-fi was non-existent, the service was terrible, all day long two men were cutting the grass with deafening machines. There was no possibility to have lunch at this hotel. The owner told me that I would have to go into town to buy lunch! I arrived in the early afternoon and left before night. That's how bad it was.
