Old charm, fantastic views, relaxing. We will be back. Unfortunately the food is not on standard and expensive for what you get. Will not have dinner at the hotel! Nice swimming pool and big erea for kids to run around and enjoy fresh air.

We spent the night at Rawdon's as we were attending a wedding nearby. The hotel has improved, if anything since we were last here over 4 years ago. Furnishings have remained the same, but the toasted sandwiches we had for lunch and the breakfast were greatly improved, and delicious! Our comfortable bedroom was warm and welcoming when we got back...

I remember this hotel as being very up-market and luxurious. On returning for lunch, the restaurant was closed and we were offered a bar meal; I was quite disappointed. The weather was bad and it was cold outside and in, with no form of heating available. There was nothing to differentiate the place from a hundred other similar bars in...

We stayed here here only a night and we're blown away. The grounds are beautifully kept and tended, and the hotel has a real old England charm about it. Rooms are spacious and well equipped, if a little dated, and the bathrooms recently renovated. The hotel staff were a little dower, but the staff in the pub were spot on...

Old but charming with great service and views. Bedrooms are wonderfully decorated and well kept. Have a drink on the porch overlooking the lake you won't fine a better way to end a day. Don't give this one a miss!

Rawdons is the classic chic country hotel. Our family room was expansive and luxurious. The bed was exceptionally comfy. The breakfast and dinner's we ate at the hotel were delicious (highly recommend the lamb curry for dinner). The bar, with its roaring fires and fine beers, makes for a great spot to unwind from the days meanderings. The real charm...

Great hospitality and service - they accommodate guests preferences well. Wonderful location and grounds. Their food is of a good standard. Bathrooms really well refurbished, rooms well furnished too. Some areas of hotel need some refurbishment. Good value for money.

This hotel is one of those gems dotted around the KZN Midlands and I was fortunate to enjoy a delicious meal there with fellow battlefield enthusiasts who were on tour but staying elsewhere. The original flagship hotel of visionary David Rawdons (of Lanzerac, Stellenbosch / Drosdty, Graaff-Reinet / Marine, Hermanus / Lord Milner, Matjiesfontein fame - might even be more),...

One of the most interesting pubs around in a picturesque setting. You have a choice of several of their own beers and the booths inside the pub have an eclectic collection of stuff on the walls. The welcome at the gate is good and you have a choice of several outside and inside places to dine - no booking required....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Rawdons Hotel is situated in the heart of the beautiful KwaZulu Natal midlands meander. A family run hotel for the past 40 years - set on a stunning 240ha estate is a great place to unwind. We have a superb Micro Brewery on the property brewing some great ales and lagers. The pub is more English than most English hotels. The rooms have recently been upgraded and well appointed and an boardwalk alongside the main dam leads to various birding, cycling and walking trails. We look forward to welcoming you to our piece of heaven. And if having so many repeat guests over the years isn't testimony to our offerings, then come and see for yourself. ... more   less
