Lovely old world charm hotel. Plenty to keep you occupied in and around the hotel. Great pub food. Friendly staff. Grounds are very well maintained and beautiful scenery. Would love to visit on winter to experience the atmosphere then. Family room very well decorated and spotlessly clean.

Thank you for your review - Roaring log fires and cozy rooms in winter are most inviting.

If you love the Country Side this is for you! Beautifully appointed large rooms, overlooking a beautiful lake, rolling lawns, wisteria and a resident chocolate Lab, make this place very special. Delicious pub grub, friendly staff and roaring fires. What more could you want?! Very Cozy Indeed! Oh and beautifully kept lawn tennis courts!

What a pleasant stay at Rawdons Hotel and Estate, your home away from home. Cosy atmosphere with fires burning in fire places as we experienced some rainy and cold weather. The food is divine, lovely ambiance with collector's antiques all complementing the colonial feel. The friendly staff are willing to go the extra mile. Location excellent to explore Midlands Meander....

The location is amazing, the website is very good but then it all goes down hill. We stayed in room 1 - this has still to be refurbished. The room was very tired, the bathroom especially so. It was a very quiet room, according to some other guests those overlooking the pub were very noisy. This hotel is a once...

Having grown up in KwaZulu Natal or Natal as it was then this was one of the places I longed to visit. When we eventually spent a night there it lived up to expectations exuding old world charm. We ate at the hotel restaurant enjoying what the charming waiter dubbed a Boycott Curry (the runs come slowly). The gardens and...

We stayed at Rawdons as a family during December 2015. We stayed in two inter-leading rooms with a bathroom in the middle. The rooms were clean and spacious and the bathroom was very large with full bath and shower. The view from the rooms is spectacular. We had a lovely dinner in the pub restaurant and our waitress was friendly...

Old style decor with faded mattresses and missing light bulbs pawned off as deluxe rooms because you could see the dam. Bathroom doors do not close - water pressure low - old cathode ray tube TV's. Not what I expected when I paid for it. Good news: chef was brilliant, food was wonderful, barman was great and on the ball....

My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of staying at Rawdons on Friday, 13 November 2015. From the moment I made the booking with Charmaine until we left we were treated like royalty by all staff members. We had lunch at Rawdons earlier this year (June) and our waiter, Douglas immediately remembered us and welcomed us back like family....

My girlfriend and I stayed at Rawdons for three nights. The rooms are comfortable and we loved the style of the hotel. The old English pub is cosy and a great spot to have a drink - I would recommend the Whistling Weasel Pale Ale brewed just across the courtyard. The grounds are also beautiful and we enjoyed walking around...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Rawdons Hotel is situated in the heart of the beautiful KwaZulu Natal midlands meander. A family run hotel for the past 40 years - set on a stunning 240ha estate is a great place to unwind. We have a superb Micro Brewery on the property brewing some great ales and lagers. The pub is more English than most English hotels. The rooms have recently been upgraded and well appointed and an boardwalk alongside the main dam leads to various birding, cycling and walking trails. We look forward to welcoming you to our piece of heaven. And if having so many repeat guests over the years isn't testimony to our offerings, then come and see for yourself. ... more   less
