Definitely a highlight of our road trip! We were made to feel at home in this beautiful castle by the wonderful hosts, which is definitely an experience not to be missed. From the moment we turned up we were welcomed by Alexandra and their gorgeous dog and then offered a drink with her husband Hugues on the terrace. He told...

What a wonderful chateau. Beautiful setting, fabulous host, loved every minute. Alexandra made our family so welcome. The breakfasts were delicious & different every day. The tour of the chateau was so interesting. The scenery around the chateau was idyllic & the view from the river showed the magic of the chateau. The Gite was short walk away & was...

An amazing experience! The chateau was a true medieval gem with lovely watchtowers or Donjons as the French call it. It was located in a very idyllic area and on the bank of a little river Anglin. One can walk down the lawn in front of the chateau to get to the river. Nearby there are many sheep grazing all...

This is the most perfect castle you could wish for. Don't bother sharing Carcasonne with millions of tourists - stay at Forges and have the place to yourself, in a building that dates back to the 12th century but has all the mod cons, delightful hosts, fabulous food (we were lucky enough to be there on one of the nights...

We spent two nights at Chateau De Forges in August 2013 with our four year old son, breaking up a journey from the UK to the Pyrenees. On arrival he had a 'special bed' already made up for him in our room and we were made very welcome by Alexandra and Hugues. The breakfast was amazing with lots of local...

During a 3-week tour of western Europe, Chateau de Forges was the best place we stayed! My wife and I chose Forges because it has been preserved in its medieval appearance while offering modern comforts. After I wrote to Forges to reserve a room, Alexandra was immediately excited to have us stay there. She made us feel welcome even before...

When I first saw the pictures of the Chateau de Forges on their website, I could only imagine what it would be like to sleep in that beautiful bed with the crimson curtains, enjoy the solitude of the countryside (definitely off the beaten path!), and play "princess" in the small castle. After two nights of traveling through Italy and France,...

“There are three rooms. We chose the Jeanne room. It was large, and had a very nice bed, a desk, and wardrobe closet. The large bathtub in this room is very nice as well. The west window offers a view of the Chateau courtyard.”
