Detailed Reviews
Fascinating. Clun is like a film set for a Dads Army episode. Great pub with a lively atmosphere and home brew beer.
The rooms were supplied with flannels, nice biscuits, a dog welcome pack with towel, rug and dog bowl and no nasty individual plastic shower and shampoo packages that pollute the environment. Instead we had refillable bottles. Jack offered to drive us to the next stage of Ofars Dyke
Will definitely visit again if we get a chance

This was our first visit to Clun so we weren't too sure what to expect but we had a great stay. The room was spotlessly clean, very well appointed and had everything we needed; we were especially pleased that it was cosy and warm as the weather outside was very chilly! Although our room was over the bar we didn't notice any noise from it at all (ear plugs were provided just in case but we didn't need them) and we had a really good night's sleep. We didn't dine there but the food seemed to be very popular and looked good. We can vouch for the beers - the ones we tried were excellent! The atmosphere in the pub was also really good - the staff and locals were very friendly so we quickly felt at home.
After a very relaxed breakfast the next day we had a walk around Clun and again everyone was very friendly. We hope to return to the White Horse when the weather is warmer and we can enjoy walking some of the beautiful countryside.
Many thanks to Jack, Hannah and the team, we look forward to seeing you all again.

Loved our stay here. Our room was warm, spacious and tastefully furnished. We had a large tv with freeview. Our bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was huge with a bath and shower over the bath with a rainforest shower head as well as a normal shower head. There was some shampoo /bodywash included. Our little dog was also thought of there was a tub on top of the wardrobe with a pet bowl blanket and doggy bags too.
The room smelt lovely with a plug in and there was an air purifier too. Our room was exceptionally clean.
We ate downstairs in the pub, again it was very warm with a log burner and our evening meals were very nice indeed I had the lamb with red wine and rosemary the meat was very tender and locally sourced.
Breakfast is served between 8 am and 10 am in the morning there was cereal, yogurt fruit bread and butter / toast you toasted yourself with marmite marmalade and jams, tea and coffee also the breakfast menu we had the full English, again the bacon, sausage eggs and mushrooms were also locally sourced. My scrambled eggs were delicious but you can also have the eggs cooked to how you'd prefer.
We would definitely stay here again the staff were all very nice the locals looked like they were all having fun the accommodation was to a high standard inside the room and outside the room we had a staircase leading up to our room and there were also other rooms on this level but I saw rooms at a lower level so the pub could accommodate you if you have difficulty climbing the stairs just make sure that you mention this at the time of your booking, I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem . There's a few walks in and around Clun to walk with or without your dogs. There's a shop/mini mart literally outside of the pub and the castle is within walking distance of the Whitehorse.

What was impressive about the White Horse was how well they catered for a Gluten-free diet. They had a clear menu making it easy to choose (unlike some places where you just have to wade through an allergens book) The GF food was good. Also Gluten Free muesli was available at breakfast. The beer was good too. I don’t think we had the best room, there was a loud noise of something running and vibrating all night, but the facilities in the room were fine, and we were only staying one night. Thanks to all who gave us a pleasant stay.

Very pleasantly impressed as, to be honest, was not expecting much. A traditional village pub with rooms, my room (Purple), was spotlessly clean, warm, with a comfortable bed and nice linen. There was a nice tea and coffee tray, ear plugs in case the (quiet) street below bothered anyone. Next morning, a really nice buffet breakfast spread with hot breakfast to order. Good value for money and I would stay again.

I stayed one night int White Horse on a walking holiday in south Shropshire. I’d booked in advance as there wasn’t a lot of accommodation in Clun so I was taking a bit of a chance as pub b’n’b can be variable. For a cost of £60 per night including breakfast this proved to be excellent value. I arrived earlier than expected as the weather had taken a turn for the worse so I curtailed my walk and decided I could at least get lunch at the pub and wait there for my room to be ready. Actually it was available when I got there and by the look and the smell it was brand new with tasteful wooden finishes. I spent the rest of the day there as it didn’t stop raining and the food was good with veggie options. Beer is a speciality as it is brewed on site, and there are some excellent ales. Would highly recommend if you’re in these parts, to stay or just for a pint.

Friendly local pub with accommodation serving well prepared basic pub food. The rooms are mostly above the bar or adjacent to the main road so expect noise from the bar until.late or from around 0600 due to local deliveries. However, ear plugs are provided. Room 4 is quite small and appears to have a damp/mould issue as the smell is unbearable even with the windows open and fans activated. Hopefully, the owner will address this.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We appreciate your patience and understanding. It appears there was a minor issue with your room on the first night, and we were glad to be able to move you to an alternative room that evening, as we had availability. Our team quickly addressed the issue by bringing in a plumber, ensuring the matter was resolved promptly. On the second night, as we were fully booked, we did inform you of the option to stay elsewhere at no charge, should that have been preferable. Regarding noise from the bar, it's worth mentioning that only two of our rooms are situated directly above it, and we generally close by 11 p.m. on weekdays and midnight on weekends. Many guests find our atmosphere quite peaceful, with earplugs typically used by partners of guests who may snore a bit more after a relaxed evening! As for the A-road, while we cannot control traffic, all rooms on that side are double-glazed and equipped with air conditioning for added comfort. Room 4 is a cozy single room, priced competitively as a more compact option for our guests who appreciate a value-friendly stay. We’re pleased to note that 95% of our guests enjoy their experience with us, and we’re always striving to improve. Thank you again for staying with us and sharing your thoughts, which help us maintain the warm, welcoming experience our guests value.

I arrived early evening and was given a very warm welcome by the landlord . This is just the sort of pub but I look for off the beaten track and cosy.
Room was absolutely lovely spotlessly clean and ample tea and coffee with fresh milk provided at the bar in a glass milk bottle.
I took my pampered pooch with me and Although they didn’t know I was taking him there was a little box with dog bowls a towel and placemat, very much appreciated.
The pub was a typical old-fashioned country pub with lots of friendly guests inside who all spoke to me when I came down to the bar later.
Value for money fantastic would love to come back here for more great hospitality great food and welcoming locals.
Fantastic walks around this little village with a couple of quirky coffee shops and antique shops.

We stayed here 1 night while walking the Offa's Dyke trail. It was a Monday yet the bar and restaurant were both busy, but in a good way with a nice vibe. Great ale and food with a brewery on site, and lovely room with comfy bed. Our room was over the bar, but we weren't kept up by noise and complimentary earplugs were provided. Jack very kindly gave us a lift the following morning back to the Offa's Dyke trail, which saved us over an hour or walking. Wouldn't hesitate to book again and look forward to returning some time to taste more of that lovely ale!
