We met local friends here on Wednesday evening for a meal and a catch up.
Three very nice fillet steaks were enjoyed and one T bone. The food was cooked to order and came with all the trimmings.
Local meat, chips/ new potatoes, salad, onion rings and tomatoes were enjoyed.Delicious.
Couldn’t fault anything.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The Sun was very airy , doors and windows open with log fire burning. Very cosy, spacious and light.
Plenty of space and a courtyard garden.
A one way system was in place, enter through the back and exit out of the front door.
All very well organised and we felt happy to sit and enjoy our evening there, so much so we left after five hours!
Thank-you to Barry, Heather and Llynn for making us feel welcome.

Visited several times during our week's holiday in the area. Super old fashioned pub, really friendly and helpful staff and the food is delicious , especially the Sunday roast. The Three Tuns beer is fantastic. Definitely worth a visit.

The Sun Inn Clun has changed hands and only food available is sandwiches, the previous owner has not changed his website telephone number.
Very disappointing as was expecting Sunday lunch. Staff did not seem interested in helping me to find another venue.

This Inn has just been taken over and we were happy and surprised to see it open when we arrived as only expected one pub in the village. Lovely weather that allowed us to sit in the rear beer garden. Didn't stay in rooms and only rated down because no food available except from next door cafe that prioritised its orders first. From what was advised food will be available very soon. Excellent service and big old pub that deserves to be part of the village. Good luck, hope you succeed

I came to the Sun inn in Clun with my Husband and pet dog Lab x for four nights to do a bit of walking in the area. What a great place to stay.We were lucky enough to get the granary room which is a little more expensive than the other rooms but well worth it.Large sitting room with oak beams ,large bedroom with a nice ensuite shower room. With its own front door leading on to a small patio area with a gate so the dog could have a little outside space to relax and a car park behind it was just perfect.
The sun inn is full of character and charm. The Landlady and Landlord are very friendly and welcoming and work hard to make our stay enjoyable.(even though they are new to it)
The cooked breakfast in the morning sets you up for a good days walking.(Best bacon I have tasted) .There is a choice of cereals, toast ,orange juice also.
There is not always available an evening meal but when there is the food is excellent. It is best to check.
We were lucky to catch the Clun wheelbarrow race in aid of a local charity the start being right outside the pub allowing us to meet the locals who were very friendly. It was a great fun filled evening and a good experience. Thank you to all at the Sun inn.

We were showed our room No 3 in the annexe near the car park it was off a musty smelling corridor and it was tiny with dated decoration and fixtures.
The bathroom was adequate but I struggled in the small shower cubicle there was sufficient hot water, towels, and shampoo etc.
Three days in the room was difficult especially when the weather was poor and the tiny tv with faulty remote was difficult to watch.
The parking was hit and miss, the car park was poorly organised with members of staff using most of the available spaces.
Breakfast was well presented and tasty although we did play musical chairs not knowing which table to use.
Overall the accommodation was poorly maintained and seems to be of less important than the pub business.

Rooms out the back are above the smoking den (and where the manager's dogs do their business) so some noise and smoke. Beds and room OK if sparse and bathroom alright but with a strange shower (the head was massive). Breakfast average - no sausage offered ! Only two meals - curry or fish and chips - on the night we were there so we went elsewhere.

If you want to pay £80 a night for pub B&B managed by people who don't know the first thing about guest hospitality, then book yourself in. Be prepared though to walk through Fag Alley to get to the bar, wait an hour for very average food and when you complain, get ready to be threatened by the supposed landlord in the car park afterwards!!

An impromptu visit to the Sun Inn last week after 30 years and we couldn't have been treated better. The welcome, the tray of tea and the delicious food later on in the evening set us up for a great night's sleep and the fantastic breakfast the next morning sent us happily on our way.

As vegetarians we're used to encountering problems, even in this day and age, when we stop at short notice, but here it was no problem, a lunch item was quickly added to the dinner meal so we should have additional choice in the already unusual menu. There's a good selection of locally made beers. The breakfast was comprehensive with a choice of cereals and a large jug of orange juice already on the table beautifully laid for our arrival. This was followed up with a freshly cooked vegi breakfast and plenty of toast.

And all this for a very reasonable amount.

Beverley, we didn't meet Duncan, was a gracious, friendly and helpful host and we will certainly return to this beautiful part of the country when we can.
