Detailed Reviews
A very nice stay at this old farmhouse. Conor is a very informal host and makes you feel at home. Good breakfast and good spacious ensuite room. However, be prepared for a long trip along the dark country lane that is almost a mile from Clun. Good TV in lounge though no TV or Radio in bedrooms. An away from it all break. Recommended.

We stay at the Old Farmhouse at least twice a year. It is full of character. The owners are very welcoming without being intrusive and they provide an excellent breakfast. Large attractive bedrooms with splendid views of the Shropshire countryside. Gardens filled with birds to wander round.

We visited the Old Farmhouse in February for the third time, as always it was a great welcome, clean, warm and charming.
We slept well and woke to a grand breakfast cooked by Conor (host).
As we were out walking each day we took our evening meals in The Castle Hotel, Bishops Castle and the White Horse pub-hotel in Clun; both served a good dinner and I would recommend either.
We are looking forward to our return to the Old Farmhouse in May 2011 for another walking weekend.

Do not believe the website. Rude, un-welcoming and arrogant owners. Dirty accommodation (I think the owners dogs had been in our bedroom as we were bitten by fleas). The cooked breakfast was cold and 'swimming' in grease.
I have stayed in some awful places over the years but nothing prepared me for this! I originally booked for 2 nights but left after the first. Do not waste your money on this B&B.

Response from diggerClun, Owner at The Old Farmhouse
Responded 20 Jan 2011
This is very odd as we had no guests in December and no one with a two night booking has left after one night in years. We have complained to Tripadvisor about this review.

I stayed at the Old Farmhouse for a short mid-week break on my own. I was made very welcome, the house had such character and the gardens were beautiful. The local knowlege of the owners was invaluable, they could recommend short and long walks, give an idea of the history as well as other places to visit. The area was so quite and peaceful, one of the best nights sleep I have had!

We arrived in a blizzard, with snow and ice nearly preventing us from getting to the Old Farmhouse, but within 5 minutes of arrival we were warming ourselves in front of an open fire with hot toddies all round. Our three night stay remained at this high level of enjoyment and relaxation. The kids had a ball sledging on the slopes nearby whilst the adults enjoyed some wonderful woodland walks suggested by Connor and Helen. The farmhouse is cosy and close by the beautiful village of Clun. The breakfasts are full English with all options catered for, we had a couple of veggies in our party. I cannot recommend the Old Farmhouse higly enough, this was our third visit and we are already planning our next trip.

This stunningly located and welcoming B&B hosts our small group of friends for a walking holiday every year. Year-by-year we have watched the owners upgrade and develop the facilities, most of the clean, comfortable rooms have en suite bathrooms and all have god views over fabulous countryside, the only noise being that of distant sheep. Beautiful gardens with a huge pond and surrounded by woods make it a peaceful and restorative place to spend time. A briskish walk takes you into the charming and historic village of Clun.
A good selection of breakfasts, served in an elegant dining room, are cooked to order, and excellent coffee. We have also had excellent vegetarian dinners cooked by the owners.
I have recommended this welcoming and relaxed place on many occasions.

Unusually beautiful B&B. Historic and utterly quiet. The hosts couldn't do enough to look after us. Very pretty rooms and all beautifully clean etc. I travelled with senior family members who were quite frail and they were really looked after.

My girlfriend and I stayed for 2 nights, in this excellent B & B.
We were made to feel very welcome, full English breakfast was superb, room had en suite bathroom.
Was very quiet and scenic, excellent food in the local pub.
Would definitely stay there again.
