It's me, again. wrote a review Oct 2021

My wife and I enjoyed a week's holiday ending on 2nd October 2021. We stayed in the Gatehouse and thoroughly enjoyed it. There is plenty of room for two people and the standard of the accommodation is excellent. The decor is fresh and the standard of the fixtures and fittings is very good quality. The wood burner is great for autumn evenings and the owners are generous in the amount of logs you can have. The views from the cottage is a real usp as is being able to just walk out into woods. The cottage is accessed by a rough track so, probably best to leave the Ferrari at home.
Carolyn and Marcus are delightful hosts, as are the two dogs, Eric and Walter.
All in all the Gatehouse is lovely and, I have to say, there is nothing to carp about.

What a lovely, peaceful, relaxing, beautiful cottage in the village of Clun, Shropshire. The detail to the cottage inside was fantastic, so much through has gone into the little touches to make your stay was just right. I will not say anymore because I want Pooh cottage to be my little secret, and I cannot wait to go back in the spring.

We stayed in the Bothy for a week at New Year. The weather was wet - almost every day - and yet we had a terrific time.

The cottage is clean, well equipped and warm. For cold weather visitors there is a Clearview woodturner and unlimited supplies of logs. This was the easiest woodturner I have ever had. It even had a spark left in the morning and relit in less than a minute.

The kitchen is small, but after all only has to cope with two people. It had lovely spotted crockery, made locally, and every tool, pan, glass and dish we needed. The rest of the cottage was similarly well designed, with plenty of cupboards and hanging space.

The view from the private terrace was wonderful, so good in fact that we intend to visit again later in the year so that we can sit there with a glass of wine or a coffee - anything! At night we slept with the little casement window open and could hear nothing but a small stream.

We chose the local breakfast welcome pack and ate it after a particularly long walk. The Ludlow sausages, local bacon, eggs and butter, and home-made bread and marmalade were superb and led us to buy more at the Ludlow Food Centre.

Walks in the area are great, some from the cottage itself. Offa's Dyke has some particularly good stretches locally and we enjoyed walking to the Iron Age hill fort from Clun. It was too wet to try the Long Mynd but that's for next time. Clun itself is worth looking round with the Heritage Trail leaflet. It still has obvious Saxon and Norman layouts, one either side of the river. Leaflets and maps for all walks and some rides are up to date and in the cottage. If you return wet and muddy there is a warm laundry room to dry your things and an outside (warm) dog shower that was useful for boots. The Bothy itself has a spacious walk-in shower.

We went on a guided tour of Ludlow that was really informative. Even without it you can have a great day wandering around the church and castle (bigger by far than Clun's), the cafes, foodshops, market, and the eighteenth century streets in general.

Clun has a brewery. Its beer was well represented in the local Spar and the White Horse pub.

Sue and Peter, the owners of the Pooh Hall cottages, live in one of the group of four cottages. They were on hand to help and advise on local places but never intruded. The layout of the cottages means that you can be as private as you want to be.

We've rented a lot of cottages over the years and this has been the best.

A perfect retreat with amazing views! Little touches of luxury ( the best bed linen! ) everywhere. Walks from the door into the pine forest and down to the village. Owners on hand but never obtrusive. A wonderful, memorable stay.

Just returned from a weeks holiday in the Gatehouse at Pooh Hall Holiday Cottages.
Probably the best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in. The Welcome pack provided was a generous breakfast for two, including local produce and Sue’s home made bread and marmalade. We had great weather which was a bonus , and there are great walks from the cottage, but there was a great selection of c.d’s, books and dvd’s if you wanted stay in. Sue and Peter work very hard to make your stay special, all three cottages have their own seating area and garden, and the views are stunning.
We look forward to returning to this magical part of Shropshire.

If you after a beautiful, quiet retreat in the heart of rolling British countryside - Pooh Hall Cottages are a fabulous choice. We stayed in The Bothy which was perfect for our needs and my folks had The Gatehouse - it was a great arrangement as we could trot between the two which are both doggy friendly (by arrangement). The owners arefriendly and relaxed and provide a thoughtful welcome pack made up of local treats. We will definitely be back!

Fabulous cottage, very well appointed with great breakfast welcome pack. Easy to light stove with supply of logs - February and it got too hot! Stayed in The Bothy - light but cosy, couldn't fault it - had pots and utensils needed to cook an evening meal. Situated at the start of the forest trail - perfect for running, walking and mountain biking. Lovely hosts - love to go back again.

Pooh Hall Cottages consist of the owners residence with 3 separate rentals all within 50 metres of each other. All are self contained and 2 out the 3 cater for dogs. All 3 rentals accommodate 2 adults. I believe all have log burners and all are well equipped for modern day living. The owners Sue and Peter Murray offer an excellent service. Everything is provided for (just bring your carpet slippers). If you wish to eat insdoors in the evening then no problem. Provided you state at the time of booking, Sue will serve you up a fantastic freshly cooked meal (main course only) and it's delivered to your door. I believe that prior to owning Pooh Hall Cottages, Sue and Peter once owned a restaurant which was credited with 2 Michelin Forks - and it shows in the quality of food served. The cottages themselves are accessed by a narrow lane come track. and is surrounded by the glorious open Shropshire Country side. No neighbours other than the other rentals on site. Step out of the cottage and you immediately enter what can only be described as thousand upon thousand of acres of woodland where you are free to roam. Ideal for Dog walkers. In fact Pooh Hall actually provide an outside Dog shower with running warm water. You also get your own parking spot right by the front door
If you want to escape the rat race and leave the world behind for a while then you will find no better place than Pooh Hall. Very Limited phone reception (which can be a good thing!!) though free wi fi is available.
My wife and I together with our dog have just returned from there (19th March 2016) this being our 5th Visit in the past 3 years. We have no plans on not returning next year - or later this year if circumstances allow. The location is a short distance from Church Stretton (Cardingmill Valley), Ludlow, Bishop's Castle. Eateries and Pubs not too far away.
Sue and Peter are the most welcoming and friendly persons you could wish to meet and this alone will make your stay even better - if that's possible!

Wonderful in all respects. There was nothing my wife and I would have changed about The Bothy. Before we left we booked in for two visits next year, that's how good it was. View from terrace across valley is outstanding.
