I loved Danum Valley Field Center so I'll give them a 5 star. But I did not like the Danum Valley Field Center Office in Lahad. We arrived at the office at 8:45 am and the door was locked, even though they open at 830. A woman name Susan or Suzanne (I forget) appeared after several minutes of us knocking...

As is evident, this is primarily a research center. If you want things done for you book with sticky rice who are expensive but their customers seemed content. To do it independently which is much cheaper and just as good (if you are happy to do things on your own) you should contact a lady called Susan at the office...

My stay at the Danum Valley Field Centre could have been better. Poorly maintained tracks made it hard to get anywhere in wet weather. Seriously if they want a diversity of tourists here they need to keep the tracks to a far better standard. Vegetation was growing in the bridges and any board walk. Very few steps just sliding mud....

I guess what people must realise is that you are paying for an experience and conservation. If you want luxury wrong place. It has what you need to get by however the food was pretty good. As for the trecking, unreal. We had Bedley from sticky rice who was incredibly knowledgeable about everything. The trecks did take it out of...

What a place! Although its primary purpose is for scientists, this place is perfect for a stay. During our 3D/2N it was full of Oxford students so we were lucky to stay in a chalet. View is fantastic, it is so quiet and beautiful... We would have stayed there for a week at least!! The food is pretty good, staff...

The most amazing place where every morning you meet ring tailed macaques, monitor lizards and wild pigs on your way to breakfast. You get 3 large meals a day for approx. 13 euros. No menu but traditional food with vegetarian options. Try getting up at dawn and you'll hear the gibbons singing in the distance. If you choose to stay...

We were a party of 13, ages ranging from 10 up to 75. Very basic accomodation, very basic food, but the whole experience was a delight. We had two excellent guides, Dean and Hati. They led us into this wonderful rainforest, where we saw orang utangs, silver and red leaf monkeys and a host of other creatures, including active leeches....

We really enjoyed the place and the hikking in the rainforest. A must go for for nature lovers. Please do not expect to see big wild animals. Its a rainforst and not a zoo. We saw a wild boar, some monkeys, a civet cat and plenty of insects. Be prepared to get bitten by leeches.

We booked two nights at DVFC through the travel agent Sticky Rice. We booked a package including guide and transportation. The center is owned by the government, and travel agents like Sticky Rice book accommodation here. It is also possible to book room directly with them. There were a small amount of researchers there when we were there in July...

I have been there for my academic trip recently. It was an incredible moment since it was my first time in Lahad Datu, Sabah. The price was reasonable as we paid for the student price. We stayed in a dorm style of accommodation, the bed was comfortable because I was able to sleep peacefully even though they turn off the electricity...
