What a place! Although its primary purpose is for scientists, this place is perfect for a stay. During our 3D/2N it was full of Oxford students so we were lucky to stay in a chalet. View is fantastic, it is so quiet and beautiful... We would have stayed there for a week at least!! The food is pretty good, staff...

The most amazing place where every morning you meet ring tailed macaques, monitor lizards and wild pigs on your way to breakfast. You get 3 large meals a day for approx. 13 euros. No menu but traditional food with vegetarian options. Try getting up at dawn and you'll hear the gibbons singing in the distance. If you choose to stay...

We were a party of 13, ages ranging from 10 up to 75. Very basic accomodation, very basic food, but the whole experience was a delight. We had two excellent guides, Dean and Hati. They led us into this wonderful rainforest, where we saw orang utangs, silver and red leaf monkeys and a host of other creatures, including active leeches....

We really enjoyed the place and the hikking in the rainforest. A must go for for nature lovers. Please do not expect to see big wild animals. Its a rainforst and not a zoo. We saw a wild boar, some monkeys, a civet cat and plenty of insects. Be prepared to get bitten by leeches.

We booked two nights at DVFC through the travel agent Sticky Rice. We booked a package including guide and transportation. The center is owned by the government, and travel agents like Sticky Rice book accommodation here. It is also possible to book room directly with them. There were a small amount of researchers there when we were there in July...

I have been there for my academic trip recently. It was an incredible moment since it was my first time in Lahad Datu, Sabah. The price was reasonable as we paid for the student price. We stayed in a dorm style of accommodation, the bed was comfortable because I was able to sleep peacefully even though they turn off the electricity...

If luxury is what you're after, then head on down the road the the rainforest lodge. If you want an affordable place to stay that's clean, has healthy filling meals, and is right in the middle of pristine dipterocarp rainforest, then this is the place for you. We stayed in one of the "rest houses" which are basic motel rooms....

I get angry when people give this place bad reviews. They somewhat expect to be catered for and that this place is built for tourists. Guess what, this place is a scentist research facility and you should be lucky that you are at all allowed to set foot in this area that is under conservation. The fact that is not...

Very expensive for what it is but it is in the middle of the jungle and one of only two accommodations in the area so I'm not sure if it maybe should cost less or not? The room was large and clean. No aircon but a ceiling fan that worked when the electricity was on between 7am and 12 midnight....

The overall score should be 5 for the experience and 3 for accommodation and services. My husband and I have just spent a few days at the Danum Valley Field Center (DVFC), and I would like to share the basic and practical infos necessary to book and budget your stay there. I am thinking of those visitors who are allergic...
