This is straddling the rail trail, and is a convenient stop if you are doing a 4 day trip. There is not a lot happening here, just the pub at the foot of the hill and the self contained cottages. But if you are doing the rail trail to relax and take in the scenery and meet the locals over... More

Stopping for a cold one after reaching the summit it was a pleasure to sit in their bar and yarn with the owner. We went back that night for a meal and it was very pleasant, although the salmon could have been a bit bigger.

Awesome stay, after a long cycle from Omakau the lodges were a welcome sight. impeccably clean and well presented. Free laundry, beautiful west facing deck just topped it all off nicely. Great ample breakfast provided. Wedderburn pub at the bottom of the driveway was a welcome amenity. Service and communication was outstanding, this is is a shining example of true... More

We stayed here for one night in April. We stayed in a double room with an ensuite bathroom that consisted of a shower and toilet. Rooms were small but warm and clean with everything we needed. The Wedderburn Hotel is within easy walking distance and we had our evening meal there - as has previously been noted you do need... More

Lovely host, Phycillia adds homely touches with fresh flowers in lounge/dining area. Clean, neat and tidy. We stayed here as a family group of 12 ranging in age from 8mths to 85yo. We were able to self cater meals using the fully kitted kitchen on site, a large chiller allowed us to keep food and beverage cold. Situated in the... More

This place would be good for groups, however we were only one couple. Compared to the other 3 places we stayed at on the rail trail, I felt this place was a bit over priced; however the facilities were adequate and the breakfast was pretty good.

Depending on which end you are coming from on the rail trail this will either be the first place or last place you come to as it is just past the old station heading out of Wedderburn towards Ranfurly. It has the appearance of an army barracks type facility as it used to be a large shearers quarters and still... More
