First of all, I think this place is pretty quaint. It is an older resort and very Tico, which I prefer. There are quite a few amenities and access to the best beach near San Jose (Playa Blanca). The pools are great and the property is well maintained. I have only been to Punta Leona on a day pass because...

A beautiful facility with 2 great beaches and multiple swimming pools. Both beaches are easily accessed either on foot or by shuttle bus. Don't miss Playa Blanca, absolutely beautiful. Several conveniently located bars, so you always stay hydrated! Don't miss the butterfly exhibit, it is well organized and the guides are excellent. Always plenty of birds to view, take the...

This was my 4th or maybe 5th time at Punta Leona. I first went there in the 90's when my father was a member but in past years I have come on my own to stay in the hotel. Despite its flaws, I do like going there. I think the grounds are gorgeous and I love walking through them and...

We just transferred from a small boutique Hotel, the Pumilio and were riding a high. First, when we arrived through the gate, we had a gorgeous 4km ride through the jungle to get to the resort. It amped us up and got us excited. When we arrived at reception, they were polite though not especially friendly. I confirmed our breakfast...

For a relatively inexpensive all inclusive it was good. On the negative side, the rooms are a car ride to the beach and very basic. You're in the jungle so there are bugs. ( we had a huge millipede in our room which I loved. My wife... not so much) We did all inclusive and arrived two hours before the...

This hotel is great for the nature! Monkeys, geckos, iguanas, macaws and tons of other wild life! I would recommend doing the night walk, we saw two species of snakes and I even got to hold a scorpion that glows in the dark with a black light! Alex was our guide and he was amazing and very informative! The pools...

This hotel should be called a motel, yes the nature is very nice and the monkeys come to see you for breakfest. This place makes me think of a camp ground, it his huge, you better be ready to walk and take the bus to go to the beach and wait in lines to get on the bus and at...

If you want white sandy beaches with gorgeous calm & turquoise waters this is the place. You don´t need to drive very far from the capital city of San Jose. And there you have many options to stay, like hotels and apartments. Just enjoy and relax. It is paradise!

The people who work at this property get the highest ratings, they were awesome. Cottage rooms are dated but were comfortable. The pool gets very crowded early and chairs are in short supply. The nice kids pool is family friendly. I didn't think the food at the 3 restaurants was bad like some reviewers say. There was typical Gallo Pinto...

It is close to the beach and has shuttles there. It is geared more for families and there are plenty of people around. Dining gets crowded at mealtime so get to breakfast early if you don't want to have to wait for a seat. The food is pretty bad I have to say. I can usually get by on salad...
