The hotel is well situated in a pretty village square with ample, free car-parking just outside. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. There’s a small café/bar area just inside the front door. Our room (€48 per night) with en-suite bathroom was on the first floor. The room was clean, tidy and simply furnished. There’s free wi-fi in every room. Unfortunately the walls and ceilings have little, or no, soundproofing and we could hear other guests’ conversations and activities in neighbouring rooms…

The buffet style, self-service breakfast is €8.50. There are croissants, bread, and a selection of jams and conserves. Disappointingly the only coffee and juice included in the breakfast deal is from vending machines. We only had this breakfast on one morning. The second morning we went to the boulangerie on the other side of the square to buy croissants etc which we brought back to the hotel then ordered fresh coffee at the bar counter. This was much cheaper and better quality.

We stayed here for three nights while attending a friend’s birthday party. The service is friendly and efficient, the room was delightfully clean. It is very comfortable place to stay. We loved the capacity to boil our own eggs for breakfast!

As always book your table we arrived late morning before wandering the town and reserved our outside table.
As always the food was fantastic.presentaion of everyone of our meals was perfect and good value.
The lamb was beautiful and my fruits if the sea salad was perfect for a sunny day with a glass of chilled red.
We have been coming here for five years and have never had a bad meal.
Plenty of parking. Sitting inside or outside. Staff wonderful English spoken if needed

Booked for proximity to Limoges airport, we couldn't have found a better place. It was welcoming, smart, clean and efficiently run. Plenty of parking as in the square. A bar and restaurant with food to savour and enjoy. The menu is extensive and food really well cooked , served and presented. The rooms are clean, comfy and quiet . We slept on the second floor with sloping roof , but plenty big enough. Wifi was abit dodgy in that room but wasn't bothered by it. It was a fabulous find and so thrilled with the experience we booked it for on the way back. The town is beautiful with a fabulous chateau and lovely walks around.

Room Tip: First floor rooms probably lighter as larger windows, second floor half in roof.

Our intention was to visit Rochechouart for its annual Brocante and arrived the afternoon before. We had not booked but upon request we were shown a room and booked in. The room was small but enough for our needs and importantly clean. As the brocante was taking over the town we were not allowed to park outside the hotel but we were shown to an alternative parking area about 200yds away. We decided to eat at the hotel and as it was a nice evening outside, Our meal that consisted of 3 courses was good my wife enjoyed hers very much my own was rather poor with the meat under cooked and very chewy and the vegetables overcooked. The real downside was that it took 3 hours to complete. Breakfast was fine - the usual continental nothing remarkable.

This was an unexpected last minute choice after we had a car breakdown and needed to stay in the town close to the repair garage. A family run hotel with a very good restaurant and rooms which are basic but meet the standards you would expect from a logis.

The restaurant has been awarded the highest level by the Logis chain and you will not be disappointed with the variety in the menu.

We had one dinner and one lunch here and both were really good value and of a high quality. The wine list has a number of half bottles which means you can have what you want without going overboard. For the lunch we had the EUR13 plat du jour which was really excellent value

The room was EUR 50 for the night and they were kind and let us store our luggage there beyond the normal check out time and we had to force payment on them for that ! No scenic view from our room but we were not much bothered by that at the time. A room looking out onto the square might be more interesting if you can get it.

The hotel were exceptionally helpful to us when we had little idea when the car might be fixed and it made the wait less painful than it might have been.

We reserved a table here as we had been told it could get busy sometimes. We probably didn't have to book as there was pleanty of seating available when we got there.

There were only two members of staff on that night; one who seemed to be supervising while the other served everyone. It took a little while for us to be waited on but we were very happy with the service we received.

We ate outside in the evening at perhaps the worst time because there was a thunderstorm heading over the town that night which caused a large swarm of insects to invade the area. We were sat just to the side of an outdoor light which had attracted them so we spent the majority of the night swatting flies. We managed to move tables, however, and were also allowed to eat dessert inside to get away.

Overall the food was amazing and the staff were wonderful. English is spoken well here but we endeavoured to speak in French anyway. Would recommend to anyone.

Right in the middle of the lovely old part of town, with good free parking out the front. We quickly resolved a small problem with our booking, and were shown to our room. Nice big bathroom, small but clean twin room on the top floor. A couple of flights of steps, but not a problem. Very quiet sleep.

My Choir CANTIQUE hosted a visit from VOCI choir and needed accommodation for twenty something people.
Hotel de France were fantastic and Cedric, Annie and the genius in the kitchen Herve gave our UK visitors a real home from home.
We know how good the food is here and count ourselves lucky to have such a fine place where traditions are upheld and standards remain high.
So THANK YOU to all at Hotel de France. They will be back!
This hotel is clean and secure with excellent management in Cedric and delicious food.
