This resort was amazing for relaxing while still allowing to see everything Costa Rica has to offer. I expected the lack of AC to be an issue, but it was not as we kept cool in the evening with fans and windows. Be sure to lock your doors at night, as we had a critter break in and steal some cookies! (Makes for a great story, but it was quite a surprise in the middle of the night). Some tents are quite a hike up hills, but the staff was so great about giving rides in golf carts anytime we had sore legs. The hike is worth it as the views are fantastic. Food was delicious, I recommend the lobster or whatever is freshly caught (ask for daily specials). For breakfast the avocado toast was the best I’ve ever had. I recommend island kayaking, Tortuga Island, sunset cruise and the Curu preserve excursions. All staff was absolutely amazing, special shout out to Alonso, Ismeal, Alejandro, Andres, Christian, Johan and the pool cleaner!…
We stayed three nights. The “tents” are well designed with canvas and screen exteriors and double glass doors leading to a large deck in front. We stayed near to the beach the first night. At our request we moved deeper into the property to a secluded jungle setting. Guest services was very happy to assist us. From the second tent we saw howler monkeys daily and has an elevated view of the water. We had a couples massage which may never be matched. The spa is an open sided hut perched on a bluff above the water. The wind, ocean sound and chimes provide a sublime backdrop to a quality massage. 5 star. We did the artisan fishing activity. Great fun. A guide, local captain, simple boat and drop line fishing. We caught enough and they served it to us for dinner. The food is good quality and well prepared. All staff is excellent and eager to assist.…
Glamping glamour. My favorite place in Costa Rica. King size beds, lovely shower with lots of hot water. Top notch service in every respect. Food was very good, and the view and location are absolutely the best. I spent part of one afternoon photographing the howler monkeys that were eating the fruits and leaves on the tree near my patio. I snapped pictures until my arms hurt! This is glamping - you are in a tent. There is wildlife everywhere.rI did have them come and remove the spider on the ceiling, but handled the tiny gecko I found napping in my bed on my own. Be sure to partake in the excursions offered, as well as swimming, snokeling, kayaking. Breakfast is served outdoors, in the shade of lovely trees next to the beach. Dinner is indoors, on on the patio. Nice menu, lovely selection. I'll be back for a third visit soon.…
We LOVE Isla Chiquita!!! We have never felt so welcomed and relaxed. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier and the food was delicious! Everything we ate, the juices, the cocktails, the desserts…EVERYTHING was superb! Very special recognition to staff member Ismael. He was the coolest ever and couldn’t have been more welcoming to our entire family throughout our whole stay. Our bioluminescent tour guide Alejandro was very knowledgeable and the tour was truly magical. Our guides on our snorkeling and Tortuga island tour were a ton of fun… I know I’m going to spell names wrong so I apologize in advance but but thank you Jordito, Christian, Teto and our boat driver. They saved us from missing our ferry when leaving the island. We were so happy we ran into Jordito on his way in to Isla Chiquita. I swear we would have missed our ferry and our ride if he didn’t help us! …
We stayed here for 2 nights and loved the whole glamping experience. We stayed in the master suite which was amazing. The room is huge, with amazing views of both sunrise and sunset and has a lovely area to sit and even an outdoor hot tub. Because of the suite we spent all our time there just venturing out for meals which were also amazing. The staff are so friendly and eager to please, nothing is too much trouble. We also did the nightly bioluminescencetour which is a must. The guy who runs this is so knowledgeable and obviously so enjoys nature which makes this all the more interesting. Thanks to all for a lovely stay.
This glamping hotel is more glamour that’s camping. The tents are extreme comfortable and the views are lovely but chose carefully. The dining areas are smart, for lunch and dinner and the breakfast in the shade of the palms and coconut trees next to the beach, superb. If you can, save up for the Master room on the top of the resort. It is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. Not a tent, it is a thatched building with an open seating area, with plunge pool, hammock and loungers for 4 people. The bedroom has a large bed, shower and loo and 2 side sofas which. Can be used as beds. The Master, accommodates up to 4 people and would be great value if there are 4 of you. Food was local, fresh, and presently immaculately, and they sensibly have a limited menu. If in one of the tents you use the hotel pool and enjoy also the amenities.. a trail, kayaks, paddle boards, fishing etc. We will never forget this place. Go there for a couple of days, and spend the extra to be at the top if the island. The walk up after each Meal makes you feel less guilty about consuming the yummy food.( you can get a golf buggy if you don’t have a trainer for a spouse! A truly lovely place for couples.…
We loved our time at Isla Chiquita. We stayed 3 nights in mid August with our 2 adult daughters and we all wished we could stay for a couple more days. From the moment we arrived the service was superb. They made us feel special. From Diego and his partner helping with our bags, to Adriana greeting us at reception, Marvin welcoming us and making sure we knew the resort details, and then our main waiter Kelvin providing superb dining experiences. Everyone else performed their role just as well, just don’t have the names to list. The food and drinks were satisfying and presented well. Monkeys migrating through the trees just outside our tent was a bonus. One of our 3 nights was in the master sunset suite at the top of the island. Blew our minds. We are returning 2 months later just to stay in this suite, (during the rainy season), because it is that good!…
Wow, what a beautiful experience is staying at Isla Chiquita. We knew we were in for a treat, but never expected it to be this special. From the moment you hop onto the private water taxi to the island, to the way you are welcomed, to the moment you get to see your "tent" (glamping taken to the next level!), to the overall experience on the island... it was all so beautiful! The food was delicious, the kayaking and SUP-ing around the island so much fun, and the many howler monkey visits made us smile throughout the day. We really enjoyed our stay here and could've easily stayed longer to just relax and absorb the beauty of it. Special shout out to the incredibly friendly team who are really doing an excellent job!
We (family of 4) were picked up by a larger boat at the marina. We arrived at the island 20 minutes later. The island is beautiful. The meals were all excellent. The wait staff were attentive and fun. Mario and X were the best. Marvin, the manager, checked in frequently to make sure all our needs were met. He genuinely seemed to care about his staff and guests. The tours: whale watching, bioluminescent, fishing, and kayaking were all good. The huge downfall came after we checked out and needed transport back to the marina. We were sent in a small boat. The ocean was churning. The captain stated he was putting our luggage and us up front in hopes to keep us drier. After 10 minutes, we were completely soaked and all our bags were equally soaked. After 20 minutes, we were only 1/5 off the way across and another boat was summoned. We transferred boats/luggage in the middle of the ocean. When we arrived at the marina, our van driver wouldn’t transport us because we were soaked. Fortunately, the marina was gracious enough to give us garbage bags to sit on so we could continue our journey. We didn’t have any dry clothing, passports/money/electronics/ all belongings were soaked. We spent 6 hours doing laundry and 3 days drying things out. Other suggestions: 1) . I made the reservation 6 months prior and requested a tent with 2 beds. We were given 1 bed. We made it work. But it would have been nicer to have two beds for my adult son and I. 2) don’t chop down all the privacy vegetation around the tents. We had some privacy and then all the large plants were removed. We could see into our neighbors tents. 3) represent tours accurately: the kayak isn’t through mangrove trees, it’s around the island. It’s beautiful but could be done without a guide. We were also told the whale watching was only available the morning after we arrived, but that wasn’t true. They also went out the day after. 4) provide aluminum water canteens for guests. Guests can refill with water as needed. The garbage, including plastic water bottles, is a big problem. Make the effort to really be green and encourage guests to do the same. A beautiful island is far less beautiful when it’s covered in garbage. 5) Establish reserved times for the cabana’s. We were there 3 days and were never able to use the cabanas or hammocks. People would plant their belongings there in the morning and leave them there all day, regardless if they were using them or not. 6) Respond to your guests. I’ve emailed twice requesting a response from Marvin about the boat transfer. I only wanted an acknowledgement and apology. I’ve never received any response. Its very disappointing. I felt the staff and the island were special, but maybe not.…
Isla Chiquita is a stunning glamping resort on its own island just off the Nicoya peninsula. We stayed in the master suite at the top of the resort and had an absolutely magical stay. From the outstanding room amenities to the friendly and helpful staff, we made magical memories with our children on this trip. Food was fresh and delicious, we loved using the free kayaks and paddle boards and the evening bio-luminescence tour was a must. Highly recommend!
