This was our 10th trip and it was our favorite. We’ve read from many reviews that it’s not as good as it was in the past. That is the opposite of our experience. It is more EXCELLENT than ever!! The renovations to spa and many of the restaurants were beautiful and classy. The renovations to Lobster House are still happening, but we never really noticed. We spend most of our time at the beach, so weren’t bothered by construction. AND Los Olas is beautiful right there on the beach. Breakfast there on two mornings was a wonderful treat. Dinner at Agave, Chez, Basmati, and Spice were all perfect. We were not Excellence Club this trip and never really noticed. Ceasar is still working his magic at the Martini bar. He is an institution and deserves a raise. The spa staff are the best. Cassandra at the desk and the therapists, Ana, Martha, and Patricia treated us to amazing massage treatments. the last was my best massage ever. We will be back as soon as possible.…

Just finished a 5 night stay in a rooftop terrace with excellence club, building 8 Room: we loved it. The room was clean in great co condition. We didn’t use the roof top as much as we thought but it was a nice place to relax later in the afternoon. I’m not sure we would pay the extra again for the RTT but it was great to have. The bed was very comfy compared to other Mexican resorts Grounds and pools: absolutely gorgeous, clean and well manicured. Zero complaints. We didn’t spend a ton of time on the beach but there was some seaweed but nothing excessive. Food: I am by no means a foodie and can be picky sometimes but we loved the food. Flavor market was probably our favorite. The meat and cheese board was perfect. We had agave our last full night and it did not disappoint. I had chicken flautas and wife had fajitas. Both had great flavor. Other restaurants we hit up were, spice, magna, lobster house. For lunch we did pizza multiple times by the main pool and it was delicious. Las olas had great food and speedy service for a snack by the pool Drinks: we drank way too many! I drank a lot of mimosas and icebergs that were all tasty. Wife had a lot of mojitos. We had no issue with them not being strong enough. Spa: did the hydro therapy (kinda different but kinda fun) also had a 70 minute couples massage that was perfect. No complaints except maybe the price lol Service: by far the best we have ever had at an all inclusive. Drinks constantly being brought to us, rarely had to actually go to the bar. All very friendly and happy to help. Only real negatives: had to go to second choices for dinner a few times because we didn’t double check what nights they were closed. No biggie. Steaks at all inclusive always disappoint compared to us steak houses. Not a huge deal as I expected that going in. Just don’t get your hopes up. We have done all inclusive 5-6 times previously including sandals. In our opinion it blew sandals out of the water from top to bottom. We would definitely book again…

Everything was excellent and our waiter on the beach, Francisco, was amazing. We had so much fun on our anniversary trip. All of the events that Excellence had planned was very fun and engaging. My wife and I really enjoyed ourselves.

We went to EPM on Feb.23rd-March 5th 2023. Originally we checked into EC room 9358, however it looked out directly over the rooftop terraces on building 9a. We were moved to 9353 the following afternoon. Prior to moving, we were greeted by Bldg 9 Concierge Adrianna while we were in the Bldg 8 pool. After asking if there was anything she could do for us, we requested the assurance that our unopened bottle of Moet champagne be moved to our new room. We also requested Tanqueray gin, Johnny Walker Black and a bottle of house Chardonnay. She asked me to write the requests in her book so that she got them right. At 3pm, my husband went to the front desk to get our new room keycard. We felt it would have been a nice touch if someone had brought it to us, since they always seem to know where their repeat EC guests are. Not a huge deal, but a suggestion to Management. We got into our new room only to find out our luggage was not. Again, not a big deal however another idea for Mngmt. We found that none of our requests to Adrianna (Bldg 9 Concierge) were in the room. I immediately went down to her office to check on them. She looked at me blankly, and I reminded her of the notes I wrote down for her. She said someone would bring them up in approx 15 min. If not, to call her. After waiting 30 mins I called her.....no answer. Nothing in our room next day either. I went back to her office with less patience than the day before. Why bother hunting us down on our first day to ask of there was anything she could do for us if she had no intention of executing the requests or following up to see if they had actually been done. Moving on with our vacation, we have decided that Excellence Playa Mujeres is no longer right for us. The resort used to be an elegant retreat primarily visited by couples. Now there seem to be larger groups (some Corporate) that tend to take over the pools and restaurants. The rooms are very dated, having never been renovated since opening day in 2007. With the renovation of many restaurants, the outdoor dining options are limited to 1 or 2 places to eat outside. For some odd reason, with The Grill taking over the former Barcelona and Basmati spaces, there is no evening outdoor dining on the large terrace in front of The Kitchen Table. Such a wasted space since KT is not open for any dining experience in the evening. It seems odd that with Basmati sharing the Agave space now, that they wouldn't have considered sharing the outdoor courtyard also. Aside from the updates/movement of restaurants, the new dining decor has a very minimalistic design but in a very cheap plastic way.....IKEA-ish All in all, we find that Excellence Playa Mujeres doesn't tick all the boxes for us anymore. With the decline of dress code, lack of outdoor dining options and extremely tired rooms, we would prefer to spend our money and vacations elsewhere. It's a shame that the Rewards Program means nothing to benefit repeat guests. It seems they created it, and then thought "Oh $h1T, what do we do now!" The resort has declined, which is sad because we love so many of the people that work there. Especially Gonzalo Martin, Martha at Cielo and former manager Nelson Kalixto. Goodbye EPM. We’ve taken a number of trips to all inclusive resorts and we finally have not been disappointed. The Excellence Playa Mujeres is beautifully kept, the hotel room with the rooftop pool was amazing, and the service was impeccable. But the food! Wow! Best food that we’ve ever experienced at an all inclusive. Our favorite service staff were Guillermo and Tonatiuh in the “Kitchen Table”. We were fortunate enough to have them nearly every day and they were so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back to this resort and others in the Excellence portfolio.

We had the most amazing vacation with friends at this beautiful resort. Everything was absolutely perfect from the private transfer from Cancun Airport with Seasons Tour to the extremely efficient check-in. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and so wonderfully maintained. The most wonderful aspect of this property is the people who work there. Each and every person we met was extremely friendly and only wanted to make you comfortable and help you to enjoy your vacation. We originally had a pool view room on the second floor which was beautifully shaded with lush vegetation. Our friends very kindly surprised us by using their upgrade so we could move for four days to the Club Level which gave us a two story room with a private plunge pool and two amazing decks with an ocean view. The lovely rooms have lovely sofas, king sized beds, fully stocked bars and fridges, wonderful closets, and the bathrooms are very spacious. The service is twice a day including the turndown evening service. We had amazing weather and can only say positive remarks about this vacation resort. We have travelled to a variety of all inclusive resorts and we can honestly say this was at the very top. The people, the amenities, the weather, the beach... The memories for one week are absolutely the best. We can hardly wait to return or visit another Excellence resort in Punta Cana,DR. We have been looking already and we just have been home for a few weeks. …

We stayed at this location for the second time in May 2023, after previously staying here in August 2020. We have also stayed at the Riviera Cancun location in 2018. I cannot say enough good things about this resort brand and the Playa Mujeres location. Everything from the pool, to the ocean, to the food and entertainment, service, it was all incredible! As this was our second time at this resort and third time with the brand, things just keep improving. Firstly, the entertainment. It is always a highlight for us!! They have so many offerings everyday to look forward to. Our favorites were sand and water volleyball, the drink/food-making classes, water casino, pickleball, and the trivia challenges. The entire entertainment team was AMAZING, but our favorites were Alejandro, Mario, and Nala! They took our trip from great to FABULOUS, really engaging us to participate in the events. When we left, we were sad to leave our new friends. They work so hard to curate an amazing experience for everyone and it shows! The food offerings are unique (and include many vegetarian options) and the restaurants are being renovated to a more modern style. Although the portions are smaller than in the United States, this gives you the option to sample an app and dessert or different entrees with each meal. And the 24/7 room service is amazing! The pool is well-maintained and the lazy river is so nice to float around with the rafts. The ocean is beautiful and they do a great job of cleaning up the seaweed so you never see it. 100/10 recommend staying here! We keep coming back and plan to keep doing so. …

We Enjoyed our stay very much. Gustavo was amazing by the pool, and Celest could not do enough for us. Fresh towels every day and day bed made. The Food and Beverage manager even took the time to say hello and make our evening special at Agave. (Best meal we had) My only complaint would be that if you are a couple looking to spend quiet time together this might not be your resort. Go nextdoor to the Beloved its 5 stars as well.

one star rating is based on homophobic, awful customer services my husband and I received while vacationing. We booked the family side of the resort while traveling with a 5-year old and 8-year old. Although there is an adult side of the resort, events can be hosted everywhere. Needless to say, music was blasting directly across from our unit until 11pm so the kids couldn’t sleep. Thereafter, the treatment by management/customer service when I raised the matter can only be described as homophobic, unprofessional and disrespectful.
