We booked this stay months in advance but got worried when we saw the reviews and watched to see if there were any more up to date ones. There was none in the English section but we decided to stick with it and visit anyway. We were very glad we did. It is a lovely place. It is hundreds of... More

Nice spot but that is the only positive. I was greeted by a surly chap who had the charisma and charm of a soap dish. The room had a broken shower and the pop up waste didn't work. When I mentioned this to the only member of staff he shrugged his shoulders. We made the mistake of eating in the... More

This is a pretty little chateau in quite a conveninet location for a stopover travelling between the UK & Belgium or Germany. The building itself is quite imposing, akmost completely surrounded by a moat & with small but pleasant gardens. However the bedrooms, service & particualry the food are simply terrible! The bedrooms are tiny, one of our party had... More

Dear guest Thank you for appreciating our castle and our 5-hectare park We are sorry that you found our rooms too small; yet they are the standards of a *** hotel including our budget rooms, certainly enough space reduced, but with a quality / price very interesting. For more space, we recommend you in the future our standard rooms and... More

We arrived on a Sunday eve after spending several weeks touring Europe and we're looking forward to a little luxury to end our holidays before heading back to the UK. The website paints a glorious picture of a small French Chateau and on arrival it looked the part. Inside however was a different picture. Shabby and tired looking. We were... More

We booked the Chateau d'Aubry as a bit of luxury for the final night of a two week visit to France. Unfortunately it was far from luxury. The room had seen better days. Tatty and torn bedspread, understocked mini bar, sub-standard toiletries. We had our four year old and 18 month old with us so had asked for a family... More

Dear Guests, We have carefully read your review It is true that our castle is not trying to be luxurious; it has the natural beauty of its building five centuries and its 5-hectare park with deer and donkeys; we have renovated to give it all the modern comforts, but we wanted to keep the charm of small castles in which... Beautiful setting, excellent food and helpful staff. Would have been a five star perfect place to stay if there was tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The superior room was comfortable with a four poster type bed and a small lounge, but you needed to be fit to get to it up two spiral staircases.

As our car rolled through the gates, our jaws dropped. The beautiful sunset lost it's significance as the historic building soared into the sky - turret and all stealing centre stage. The bridge across the moat leads to a front door gushing with power, significance and prestige. As we bumbled to find the bell, the door graciously retreated and we... More

My expectations were low given the 85 euro price for a large double bedroom. However, the reviews were good and the photos enticing, so we took a punt on a overnight stay in France from the UK.
