Hugely disappointing experience where on making a booking never received any confirmation email. I then chased up to be advised that they had called me twice and left voicemails as an issue with payment, however it transpires they had taken down mobile number incorrectly as well as bank details clearly!!!!! And now you can guess, to add insult to injury...

Staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant is excellent. Room was well appointed and well priced. One evening the restaurant had been fully booked for a function and staff organised a first class me for us at the bar. Highly recommended.

Four of us enjoyed lunch here, with every dish being a winner. Star was the light and delicious smoked haddock soufflé, which I hope will still be on the menu when we return. We also eat Cornish crab, pea and mint soup, panfried Pollock, pork T-bone with crackling and apple, liver and bacon, two different deconstructed cheesecakes, and raspberry sorbet. The prices...

After a day walking we went for an early dinner and were not disappointed. The staff were efficient and unobtrusive and although we thought the menu was somewhat limited the quality of produce and cooking were both first rate. Like so many gastro pubs veg or potato were an extra cost. We came away well satisfied and would strongly recommend...

Brilliant, a well kept secret. The pub has two bedrooms. One must remember that the building is old and the floor boards creek and the floors slope. Bedrooms are en suite and are small, but cosy and well appointed. Dinner was wonderful, the place is more a restaurant than a pub. Warning there are no street lights and it becomes...

Booked for a romantic anniversary dinner and overnight stay. Lovely old pub with flagstones, wood-burning stove and dogs lazily sprawled on the floor. Room was homely and comfortable with huge bed and nice little touches: espresso machine, candles, massive cushions and a quaint little bottle of milk in the fridge. Lovely view onto the little church opposite and the rolling...

We came on Saturday night and yes we were 10 minutes late............So I think we were being punished for this. 30 minutes to take the order. We had to go to the bar to remind them. Drinks did come quickly. Haddock soufflé excellent. Malbec very good too. Main courses - duck good, sole saltly, chicken average. Service poor. They just...

The menu and cooking here are of a high standard. Amongst 7 or so starters, the smoked haddock soufflé was excellently executed. Cheesy, haddocky, fluffy. The scallops on peas bacon and lettuce made a very good combination. For the main course we went all out for the lobster Mac and cheese. An impressive ratio of good firm lobster to good...

What a shame! We went for a late lunch so place was almost empty. Food was quite nice ( excellent smoked haddock soufflé) but the wait was unacceptable. God only knows how long we would have waited if it had been busy! New waitress was pleasant but did not really care enough to learn what was available as wine by...
